The Basilisk , only i see this problem?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

So there is in game one Basilisk War Mount, and as its name says, it can be used only as a mount. Still, how can partially functional Basilisk exist ( the mounts) yet

Spoiler

Lane Vizla have no info about them or how to repair them?

Because it's ultimately just a game. Your choice of mount doesn't tie into the story. Another example is taking a companion like Shae Vizla through your origin story, or better yet, fighting Shae Vizla in Blood Hunt, with Shae Vizla as your companion.

Because, as far as I'm aware, most of - if not all - items on the Cartel Market are non-diegetic. (Diegesis definition) The info in the Wiki link all boils down to: is it in-universe, or does it exist solely for the players (like the UI or character stats or Lightsabers not instantly killing people).

Essentially, it's not possible for a character in the bounds of the narrative to have a Basilisk Mount, as the vast majority of them have been long destroyed by the time of the Third Galactic War. In universe, Lane is likely the first Mandalorian in many generations to actually have the honor of repairing one. The mount, on the other hand, is strictly a customization option for the sake of the Player. Similarly, how and why would someone purchase and wear the mask of Darth Nihilus, or the exact clothing and armor worn by Mandalore the Preserver during his tenures as the companion of Reven and Meetra Surik? You would think that, in universe, such items would be in a museum or burial site; if they hadn't already been destroyed by combat or time.

At the end of the day: if something on the Cartel Market can be or could feasibly be found in some other form in the actual game world (sold by a vendor, seen as decoration, worn/used by NPCs), then it's diegetic. If it's something from the KotOR games or inspired by some other piece of non-TOR content (like the items inspired by The Mandalorian and Ahsoka), then it should not be considered as actually in-universe; as it exists solely for the benefit of the players.

IIRC, technically, you can't use Shae as a companion during Blood Hunt, or the Chapter of KOTFE she's reintroduced in with Torian, "Mandalore's Revenge".

At least during a first runs for story, she'll be unavailable to use. Not sure on subsequent runs.
