New gear drops and weapons imperial - collecting but not sure why or what

Maybe a stupid question but the imperial gear and weapons that's dropping is all low level modifiable i.e armour, mods, enhancements - when will we know what they are for and is crafting back in vogue again?? Also I recently got a level 10 mission my level is 80 any insight or information would have been appreciated prior to this happening, then again we're only the players

The fact its dropping for a level 80 is the issue.

Dropping, or a reward?  Class mission/planetary/sidequest mission rewards are still geared to planet level, not player level.  If you run story flashpoints then the trash mobs drop items geared to the level of the flashpoint, not the player level.

StevetheCynic is right, we need more context from the OP about where they are getting these items.
