Depravedone
So just a recap to clarify here. I've got a T3 Item rating 242 [iokath MK-5 Relic of Focused Retribution [Augmented]] that I cannot upgrade to the T4 Unassembled component. I've got 1.5k unassembeled components (on hand), got the relic, going to the correct vendor, and I cannot upgrade. I have gone to all 4 T4 vendors just to see if they would allow me to get the unassembled gear piece with no luck. I am familiar with this process as I've done it many times. Now I've got a couple of toons with T3 (got in crate/242 gear) gear that I can not upgrade to the t4 unassembled components. Don't know what is going on here. Maybe because I augmented them? I had the T3 Iakath belt on my Operative and could not trade it in for the T4 unassembled components...got another T3 belt in a crate (the exact same belt) and was then able to trade it in for the T4 components. Not sure whats going on here. Im having this issue on other toons as well. SOLVED: TY Standos Reason I could not upgrade is because item was equipped lol. Unequiped and traded. Thx again to all who responded. Edited May 13, 2018 by Depravedone Solved
juliushorst
It's the shell that you trade - so if you moved ench\mod\armoring to some other shell and sold the old one you can no longer trade it. You still can trade empty shell of your original T3 gear. Augmentation slot shouldn't break anything.
Depravedone
Maybe has something to do with that but I'm having the same issue on my relic with my sorc. Also is there a way to know which mods/enhancements/armor etc go with which gear? I have the shell but might have swapped mods/enhancements. But you can not do this with a relic, and I have this issue on my Sorc. Its a 242 Item rating [iokath MK-5 Relic of Focused Retribution [Augmented]] that I cant trade up for the T4 unassembled component. SteveTheCynic
Just to confirm: * You got a 242-yellow Iokath MK-5 piece (belt, I believe you said) in a T3 crate. * You got a pile of enough Unassembled Components(1) from PvP and/or disintegrations. * You went to the Unassembled Gear vendors on the Fleet, in the very last bay in the Supplies section with the shell of the piece (with or without mods, augmented or not, doesn't matter) in your inventory. And the vendor wouldn't sell you the Unassembled GEMINI Belt token? The game, unfortunately, has a bugged display in vendors whose prices are "X of this and Y of that". It shows both X and Y in red unless you have enough of both. What it should do is what GW2 does: show the "not enough" number in red and the "you have enough of this one" number in green. So if you don't have enough UCs but you do have the gear piece, the vendor currently shows the gear piece in red AND the required number of UCs in red, while it should show the gear piece in green and the UCs in red. (1) The term "Unassembled Components" refers to the "currency" mode tokens that drop from Warzones and (I think) GSF battles, and also from the daily and weekly missions for WZ/GSF, but they also drop when you disintegrate Eternal Commander, Iokath, and GEMINI gear pieces in the Command Stash. To upgrade from T3 to T4, you need anywhere up to 810 of them per piece (Mainhand/Offhand weapon). Look in your Currency tab to see how many you have. I have over 2k Unassembled Components on this toon and the belt to boot. But it will not allow me to upgrade. I have gone to all 4 t4 vendors just to see if they would give me the upgrade...nope. I have the same issue on my sorc. Item rating 242 [iokath MK-5 Relic of Focused Retribution [Augmented]] and can not upgrade the relic. I ended up getting another belt on my operative (exact same belt) and was then able to upgrade. I'm lost. I've submitted tickets on it in the past but got nowhere. Lammia
Are you sure you go to the right vendor? 242 is Tier 3 gear. You exchange it for an unassembled piece, and then you buy Tier 4 gear at T4 vendor with it and tokens.

BRKMSN
First you go to the Tier 4 (class) Unassembled Tokens vendor --- then you can cash in the token for the piece at the Tier 4 (class) Equipment vendor. There is a 2 step process.
Rabenschwinge
Reason I could not upgrade is because item was equipped lol. Well, I am glad this is settled then. One thing I wanted to mention is that is not necessary for the existing lower tier item that you wish to swap for a higher tier token to be in your inventory. Even though you cannot have it equipped, it is enough to keep it in your personal cargo hold. Whether or not the same is true for "Unassembled Components" I do not know, but know that it is not enough to keep them in your legacy cargo hold. The requirement that the item be not-equipped is something I should have mentioned. Glad it's worked out for you.
