Children

Recommended Posts

From my recollection 2 are in the game. One with his father in Hutta (and none of my characters ever killed the father) and the other on Coruscant, who was looking for someone to find her brother. As far as I can remember I never saw any other children running around on Corellia which was a warzone nor on Balmorra and places like that.

And on that note I have stated my opinion and with that I wish you all a good day.

The one I took in my SS was in Zakuul, I'm not sure about the Corellia one, but I thought I saw it. could be wrong however. You have a nice day too. :)

1. Three children hoarding water on coruscant (appearing in a cut scene) as part of the 3-part gree quest chain.

2. A sick child on Ord Mantel being cared for in a tent by a thieving cathar.

3. Another sick child on Ord Mantel being cared for by a doctor who doesn't want to abandon those under his care.

4. A child on Ord Mantel who has run away from his parents and is under the influence of drugs and forced to fight.

5. Reports of a teen killed when the player arms devices on the corpses of independence fighters on Balmorra.

I think there's also children in Balmorra in a Heroic by blowing up the reactor? A sister and her little brother or something.:rak_02:

I fail to see the value in this.

Neither do I!

Well in Hutta as an agent, this mom of a Force sensitive child wants to send her child to Korriban to become a sith, his dad doesn't want him to go. So while we aren't shown children on Korriban, I think they do learn over there.

I am thinking that might be an anomaly - the Sith Warrior comes to Korriban after training somewhere else and some of the other acolytes mention that they had been training on Balmorra before coming to Korriban. And in the Sith Inquisitor storyline, Zash tells her it's a special honor to get an apprentice specifically from Korriban, basically saying that those are the best of the best. So it seems that Korriban is the final stop for most acolytes, as teens or adults, if they've reached that level of skill.

Also, as I have not played through the agent storyline entirely - do they show the child? Because in the SW storyline there's someone referred to as a "child" who is actually a grown man (Lord Grathan's son), and Jaesa is referred to as a girl even though she's 21.

Yeah they show him, you can tell him how his anger can make him strong and use it to kill you later or something along those lines. He's sad and cries.

Parents would want to keep their kids safe, or they'd be in school, like the Sith Academy.

um... Since when is the Sith Academy "safe"?

There are plenty of kids in this world who, unfortunately, live in Warzones.

In the Star Wars galaxy, they aren't always safe. See The Jedi Temple in Revenge of the Sith .

That said, I think our characters shouldn't have them following us around, I think they would have enough "clout" to keep them safely in our Strongholds as decorations.

If you want something young and short with a high-pitched voice following you around, get Treek. ;)

I would love some stronghold Personnel children as NPC decorations, though!

LOL I have Treek and the point is I don't want them as companions, just as "pets" which doesn't even have a "voice" some just make some growls and noises at a random moment, kids can stay mute as far as I care.

And why shouldn't we all be able to let them follow us anyways? You guys confuse the "CAN" with the "MUST", for starters having kids as obtainable pets in game WONT force you to get them in the first place. If you don't want to collect them for whatever reasons you have its perfectly fine, people who DO want to collect them will be happy to get them. If you find this an issue well I pretty much vomit for having the retarded vented Saber in game, yet I'm free to choose whether I buy it or nah, there's people who do want it and will buy it anyways. Its the same thing.

Now if you do unlock them everyone decides how to play their game, everyone here comes to build their own star wars adventure the way it pleases them most. If you want to keep your kids to be spoiled or confined to your stronghold because its to dangerous to even let them go get a jar of blue milk to the marketplace at the other side of the street its your choice to do it, no one will force you to do otherwise. And if I want to get my kid to the wilds of Tython to train him as my padawan or prettend I'm doing some sort of escort quest with my friends trying to take some refugee kids to safety in the streets of corellia, or even go with my family on vacation to the beaches of Rishi, adopting a kid in my bounty hunter's gang (like how boba started), or trying to survive in the streets of Nar Shadaa. I should be able to do so. And by doing it I wont ruin anyone else's experience nor I will tell them how they play their game. Taking the example of the ****** saber again. Its as if I ask BW to forbbid everyone to use the saber just because it gives me cancer on sight. That would be unfair for players who are happy with their sabers and want to enjoy their game their own way.

In the end this is only a game, the point of this is that everyone can have fun and enjoy it in their own way.

Since when the Sith Academy is a "Safe" place xD People die every hour in there.

Also didn't Anakin's mom, let a stranger they just meet days ago to take her son away? Why Quigon who was responsible for Anakin's safety allowed him to follow everyone to the assault to Theed's palace (which was pretty much a WARZONE). Why no one scold him about how dangerous it was to fly a starship right into yet ANOTHER warzone in space?

What about Leia? she didn't grew in a school or in the Organa Castle doing princess stuff she was traveling around planets on diplomatic missions even breaking the imperial laws by helping the rebels and getting into shootings.

Lets not talk about Luke, uncle Owen and aunt Beru who were responsible for him allowed him to go around the desert in his adventures with his friends, yeah that doesn't sound much of a deal till you remember Tusken Raiders (the Lars seem to have easily forgot what happened to Shimi for just going outside one day to pick mushrooms on the vaporators on your backyard), also the agresive fauna you can find on Tatooine, Jabba's thugs who doesn't really give a **** about respect and morals. If it wasn't for obi wan protecting him well... at least we still got Leia around.

Ahsoka wasn't even 18 when she was already fighting in Warzones A LOT OF WARZONES during the whole Clone Wars.

Han Solo was an orphan and he wasn't precisely safe at some orphanage, he used to rob and get in trouble with gangs to survive.

Starkiller was brutally trained by Vader during his childhood.

Jyn Erso, you know that story already guys.... Just take a minute to think and remember we are talking about the star wars Galaxy in a period of whar that leaves many orphans who will be pretty much picking up a pair of blasters while planning a big heist to earn the credits for their living, or as padawans to a Jedi Master who has to be sent if not to warzones at least to missions where is 90% possible you end up in the middle of a shooting or in throuble with the Sith, not to say that the less lucky ones are sold as slaves even as kids (*cough cough* Vette). And Mission (for those who know her) wasn in her 14s when she joined Revan and she was already involved in a series of troubles before that, This is the Star Wars universe we are talking about, there isn't such thing as "keep your kids safe at home" the galaxy is a harsh place, people know that the only options out there are that you learn how to handle a blaster or the galaxy eats you alive (sometimes literally). Kids in Star Wars are not the same as kids in real life, gawd!.

The point is, unless you go into the Jedi Temple in the movies, or some very special setting that's key to the plot, you don't see many kids. You see them in Phantom Menace, because it's about a kid...but the rest are what happened when that kid grew up. I realize they're not 'safe' as such in the Sith Academy, but one would expect that force senstivie Sith kids would be there, same with the jedi in their respective school. Bounty hunters might have their kids with them, but even that is a bit far fetched. I still hold to the idea that they'd make great stronghold decorations, that you can plunk down in the corner of your media room and say, 'voila...family' and head canon the rest of it as you see fit.

Also all the kids in swtor are human, are they going to make Twi'lek kids too? And of all the other species. And for humans they'd need boys girls of different skin colours. I think there's only skin tone atm!

This all together with the points of many other people in this thread seems like waaaay more work BW is ever willing to do. Or should.

I...I don't know. To each their own but reading this again...something just doesn't sit right with me with having children as mute 'pets'.

Definitely agree. I'm not against having children NPC's, but not any that you can have any control over - it'd just open it up to abuse (there's always one), and Disney would never allow that.

when you're on your speeder the pets run behind them. that would be funny with kids especially if you're using something with 2 seats.

Since speeders usually go faster sometimes it appears as if the pets just teleport back when you stop. It would be funnier to see a rancor mount running with a kid chasing it. I would love to take a pic of that.

In someone's stronghold as a decoration piece is not a "battlefield". Also I don't know why people keep pulling that tired old excuse of "it's x years later" out. It's Star Wars. Technology has basically plateaued for their universe and people have lived the same way for hundreds of years. It's almost static.

That said I don't have an investment in this request because I couldn't care less one way or another, but I don't think it's a particularly weird request- children exist, and happen to be a huge part of some people's lives. It's not too out of the ballpark to think some people would like to see them actually existing in the game. A lot of games have child NPCs- to have them standing around, existing, is not out of the ordinary.

In fact I think it's a lot weirder that I can count the amount of child NPCs I've seen in the game on one hand. Given the fact that the lack of character diversity leads to a lot of clones, I have to wonder if everyone in the Old Republic era reproduces primarily by mitosis..

I can see them as decor or something for RP, a lot of characters are married or something and I am all for more

Domestic decorations. I still want to see kitchen and bathroom stuff so my house can be more house like. Couches and tvs like we see kaylios apartment.

Anyway, I like the idea of having more characters as decos anyway. From Kids to giant Hutts, I want more NPCs for strongholds.

I don't really need them following me around though but whatever. I would not mind seeing some teenage companion that is your offspring.

True that. I'm glad to see people using reason and common sense before assaulting threads lol

I don't particularly care for kids in the game, but there are more than people think there are.

I also saw one with the exiles during the Aric Jorgan chapter. They were just being attacked by those Zakuul troopers.

I agree, there are kids here and there in the crowds, etc.

I do think there's a difference between having them there as background extras and someone wanting kids as a mute 'pets' to follow them around in the game, though.

I understand. :) I however feel indifferent towards the situation. I don't think it'll happen as the desire for it just seems too small. If it were to be available, I'd probably put one or two in my SH living room, if it doesn't I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. :p

I find it a little...weird and off-putting (the idea, not the OP or those who like the idea) to have them as 'mute pets,' but I'm not going to care too much if it actually happens. My characters don't want kids at all, so I wouldn't be placing any in my SH, but if someone else does, it's not like I'm going to see it.

True!

Well I can't blame you or anyone for feeling the way they do. :)
