sofargone
I just set up my brand new dell and I'm downloading SWTOR. I load internet pages in seconds but my download speed is measly 11kb/s. I'm being patient, but I wanna play on my new desktop! What can help my download speed?
AndasKastor
11kb/sec? Ouch! I downloaded the client at my normal cable modem speed. Have you tried restarting it? Your ISP isn't throttling you is it?

eightohfive
If by chance, you have a laptop or other computer with SWTOR installed, you can transfer the game files straight from the old computer to your new one over your network. Cuts it down to about 5 minutes.

Jaekani
Check to make sure your firewall isn't blocking you. Because 11kb/s? ...that's... really bad. You'll never finish. Seriously.

Patmage
Try plugging your laptop directly into the router. This may be a wireless interference issue or a wireless driver issue.
Kinwood
Go to dslreports.com. Use the tools and check your actually speed. http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest Choose a couple in your area, then check further areas. that will tell you if its your end or the sw server. sofargone
I'm not sure why, but when I moved my router by accident I got bumped up to 400kb/s. !
Battyone
I'm not sure why, but when I moved my router by accident I got bumped up to 400kb/s. ! Use an ethernet cable instead of wifi. It is worth noting that a webpage loading in seconds is not a great benchmark, the average webpage (or so I read on slashdot at some point) is just now approaching 1MB of content+markup. (Except those horrible 100% flash pages of poor web design but I digress.) The game is 20,000x larger than an average webpage.
