What Do You Think of the Night Life Event Prizes?

This isn't a rant, just wanted to share a few of my thoughts and see what everyone else thinks. Also not trying to be condescending so I hope no one takes this the wrong way. This is my first time participating in the event and I know it goes on for a while so I'm eager to see how my luck unfolds.

First off, I have some mixed feelings about the event so far. Most of the items in the certificate vendors aren't particularly motivating to me although I could see some people really liking them. Why not some of the *really* good stuff? IMO rancor mounts are kind of played out and the decorations are kind of meh. Didn't like the outfit or companion customizations either. Maybe its just me....

Secondly the slot machines are kind of boring. Prior to doing any research before the event dropped, I was expecting some weird symbols or numbers like on an actual slot machine. Instead I was surprised to see such a simple half moon going round and round to randomly stop on an arrow that has no significance to any prizes won. Kind of kills the anticipation factor or semblance of skill involved, just more of the Random Nonsense Generator. You click and wait for RNG to tell you if you win or lose and wait again for it to tell you what you won. Made me want to open up a window and do something else, then I started thinking about all the credits I was wasting and on and on and on LOL. I'm not bashing the event as I'm smart enough to move on and do other things, but I want to like it and it would be nice to win a big prize.

And third, maybe I'm being whiny here, maybe not...but as a game I was kind of expecting a prize at some point on either machine. I did see some people win big early in and some hit the jackpot later on so we'll see. But I was thinking back to the Life Day event where the frequency for parcels was just high enough to keep you throwing snowballs. I was sick of the snowballs the first day but it didn't stop me from throwing them LOL. And the things you could buy with those parcels were somewhat desirable. The frequency of anything for Night Life is well...depressing. Its highly sporadic and seemingly a tremendous credit sink. Some of the Kingpin prizes are great but since its a game, I'm of the mind that everyone should walk away with something. Even if it was a much lesser item than the companion or mounts. This would be a great way to reward players for playing, even if it was just something lame they could sell to a vendor or auction off...like those snow covered parcels from Life Day. So far I've been collecting certificates but there's nothing I'm really interested in that they buy. Some of the items I noticed are bind on legacy so that kind of kills resale value. I don't know....just some thoughts.

What does everyone else think? And again, this isn't a pointed ---Night Life Sucks--rant, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it and decide to either enjoy it or move on. While I didn't win anything really, it was neat to run into some old friends and have a social atmosphere going without all the Fleet Chat nonsense, just people being friendly. Kudo's for that by the way!

Yip, have to agree this event is just meh...

As MMO events go . this has to rank in the top 1 of the most poorly presented and most boring.

To spend even 15mins mouse clicking repeatedly and watch that basic little graphic move round ... totally lame.

The Cartel pack opening is more fun to watch than this half baked idea of fun.

The rewards are fine... the first time you get them, then the reality of repeatability hits all to soon except most if not all are BtL if I recall.

It is nothing more than a credit sink plain and simple with a heavily weighted RNG system.. that much is obvious but not the main issue... the sheer lack of creativity and fun is the issuel, but that's my opinion..

I guess I would rather go run clock tower in GW2, at least it gives some element of skill to the event.. or Mad King for a bit of light hearted fun and a little more entertaining fetch quests.... Nightlife Event maybe better being called Nightnurse... aimed at helping players sleep :)

I like the new decorations available from the Nightlife event and will pursue getting them. I'm indifferent to the other prizes, but not because I think those prizes are bad. They just aren't items I'm interested in obtaining. Clicking the slot machine can get old. I usually send companions out on crew skill missions while I click.

Overall, I like the Nightlife event. I think it is what it is: a (for me fun) diversion. And, a chance to get some new decos.

I actually think the new decorations are rather nice--with some being downright awesome. I love the Gambler's Party Floor in particular, me and my RP guild had a bunch of fun trying out the 'example' in the casino. There's dances programmed into that thing that don't exist as emotes yet, it was exciting! The mic stand is nice too, though I wish the channel lasted at least a minute (like the dance floor) to keep the performance and the disco ball/light show going.

So the event is worth doing for me, just to get as many of those decorations as I desire. If I get some of the other rewards along the way, hey, that's nice too! The two daily quests they added are kinda cute as well for a little extra reward and a few free chips. All in all, it's a fun diversion for a while--and a credit sink in a game that badly needs some. Nothing more, nothing less, and totally optional!

Kind of odd to see this when people have been asking for it for such a long time. That said, the rewards aren't anything I'd ever want. Maybe the dance floor cause why not. Otherwise no. I spent 100k got 5 certs, I'll keep it at that.

Hopefully event items will get an update someday or have some new items added.

Thanks for sharing your input everyone! It's always great to see what others think. I didn't know that dance floor was a clickable object with dance moves programmed in. Maybe I'll give that a try since I have a few certs.

Wait, wait, there are daily quests? Where?

There's one you pick up in some small crates with holoprojectors along the sides of the casino area. That one is just to spin the machines 10 times. The other one you pick up in the back towards the bar area from a pit boss NPC. He has you scanning for cheaters at the sabacc tables. Both of them award some CXP (at max level, I assume it's XP below max level) and a few free chips.

Whilst for some the items you can purchase with the tokens may not be appreciated others will want them - especially that dance floor!

Yes the mechanics are not all that interesting but let's be honest - it's not meant to be. If the rewards were superb and the experience was great then there would probably be an outcry over EA / Bioware promoting gambling.

Thanks! I played enough to get all the decos last night, but I guess it's time to get back to the tables for some more fun!

I think the Gambler's Mike stand is fun as well. There are some sprinkled around the Nightlife casino area to try out. And, the clickable dance floor is there, too. :)

I think the prizes you can buy with the golden certificates are very nice. Someone really outdid themselves in coming up with those, especially the dancefloor and the gambler's mic. The bar is a bit odd, I would have preferred something more like a long counter with stools rather than a round bar with some weird contraption on top of it. The vehicles are nice too.

As others have said, sitting there for ages clicking randomly on the machine is dull. If they had symbols that lined up and meant something, it would be more exciting, rather than just the triangle thingy. Still, I had fun and got several nice things already. I plan to get more, as I have lots of strongholds to decorate.

I also like the daily added. I hope there will be more of these.

Thanks for the event and the super nice prizes. :)

Tbh I've always found night life slightly disappointing. The only time I get excited is for life day, because it gives me an opportunity to make buttloads of credits without putting in the work most of the time.

although i play since day one i really never did this nightlife event.

But now there is the gamorean companion and for a star wars lore fan, i just need to have one.

this prize just makes this event interesting, the other prizes are useless imao. they don't worth to lose time and money.

1st time round there were no rancor mounts in the game

I got one after 7 goes, my guild hated me

now there are so many other rancor mounts that they dont really matter.

same with companions.

get a gamorrean guard comp... do got with the other 50 comps you dont use

there's nothing that makes me wanna play.

now if they dropped cartel certs, or black dyes etc....

I just wish the choice in decorations were more broad. There's only a few and they have a certain look to them. ;/ Kinda rusty? I suppose it goes with the theme. Need moar decorations!! Or dyes would be nice too as someone mentioned. Even if not possible now, please consider adding more to the vendors next time around and for other events.:rak_03:
