LyraineAlei
Nope... no one died... only Theron, Koth, Lana, Tora, Senya, and two companions of either Gault/Vette/Torian get any of the action, Kaliyo may state how she was jealous of all the action you got if she's alive. Sadly, not a single main character died in this chapter, let alone a ally of your side, the only people who died were the nameless Knights of Zakuul. I don't mind tedious tasks if the payout or reward is satisfying, but it just isn't with the alliance and KOTFE. Literally none of the alliance you could of done in between chapters matters, you could have all 6 star fortresses floating about with a mostly empty base with no resources and it changes nothing of the story, not even a small dialogue off comment. No nameless nobodies? Aww.

It does when walking through the base though, if you haven't built up your alliance the comments made by others as you walk by is different. Not story changes, just subtle base changes as you build the alliance. You are right though, it should change how the story plays out, with at least a different cutscene here or there.... Storm-Cutter
The alliance crates where just a MacGuffin to try and keep you busy while they produced more content. As others have pointed out, there is an achieve & mount for getting all your alliance to rank 20 and you get buff(s) in the SF if they're >10. There are also armour sets if you're into collecting whole sets. - I suspect most people vendored most of the armour. But in the end it was just recycling / papering over the cracks for another few months, hoping you'd stay interested and subbing / spending CCs. But who knows, once the next expansion starts, they might up the cap- but if people can't see the point (relevance) now, they certainly won't later. Adric_the_Red
Toss 'em into your legacy bank for alts that may or may not be going through KotFE, or keep cashing the crates in for the armor sets if you're still missing stuff (or so I would assume, I haven't maxed the specialists yet so I don't know if they stop accepting crates). It would be nice if having the Specialists at higher levels did do something though. The specialists do continue to accept crates after you get them to max influence level (currently 20). GythralSWTOR
Like almost everything added to the game, it will now be ignored, having served the purpose of giving players something to do between Chapters IX and X Edited September 7, 2016 by GythralSWTOR

The rep grinds have the same funciton, just laid out a little differently
BlazeTomahawk
Spoilers on chapter 16 of KOTFE. Nothing needs to be rebuilt, at all. No one on the ground was attacked, and nothing was destroyed. Unless you're talking about rebuilding more manpower if you lost the ship that koth steals. You're right. Torian and Kaliyo even talk about how nothing happened on the ground during the space battle in 16. Makes Darth Marr into a real liar with his "it's a shame so many of them will die" proclamation. The only one even close to joining my Troopers alliance to die was Broonmark, and he never was given the choice
