You mean the problem that exists in regs anyways...No need to make changes on account of this.

 

 

 

Starter gear would be a great solution, especially in conjunction with something like I mention at the bottom of this post.

I think a solution to a lot of the problems you bring up would just be to make Ranked a "toggle". When you queue, you choose Unranked or Ranked. This doesn't change which queue you end up in (everyone gets tossed into the same pool, warzones and arenas), only whether the match will effect your rating.

 

First off, I very much like your idea and have been saying it among friends for months. A toggle system would be awesome. I've won hundreds of ranked games and have been tier-one every season and top 3 VG S3, and i've never seen more problems with the ranked scene but from a lack of consistant player participation. Allowing to harnes the vast population that normally plays casually to support ranked content would certainly help if not solve the vast majority of problems. QUIT USING BANDAID FIXES BW, solve the REAL issue. Second, who the heck are these "bad feeling podcast" guys? Do they have ANY reason to have a voice in competative PvP?

IMHO, ranked should be redesigned to be about winrates. Winrate % should be adjusted every season, but receiving certain tier rewards should require X amount of matches, and you must play at least Y amount of matches before you qualify for rewards, IE, say, 50. Rankings could be balanced between matches won and winrate % then skewed by the average quality of the enemy players, dictated by winrate percentage to form a sort of composite rating. The system would also take into account premades and pugs,and while premades are not separated from soloquers, matches won against a premade count for more in the rankings while matches lost to premades factor in less into rating, though the player skill ranking generated by the other statistics will also skew the weighting of premade vs non premade

 

This weakens wintrading as the ratings are determined just as much by enemy skill, as well as winrates, as well as matches played as well as enemy group status. The system would encourage LONG TERM PVP, not just short spurts of soloranked dependent on "when you que." Matchmaking would not be in effect, though the difficulty and challenge of the win would be created by the average group ranking.

 

Players that have not played in the season yet are given an estimated skill level and projected ranking generated by the most recent statistics, and if that is not available, are rated based on the valor level of the character in question.

 

This also naturally filters out weaker players, designing a ranked system that rewards perseverance and gradual improvement. Those that don't adapt to PVP will wash out as they do in the current solo ranked system.

 

REMOVE SOLO RANKED. PERIOD. It's dumb, stupid, and incredibly idiotic. Make all forms of arena role matched in regs. Team Ranked can stay as it is now.

What about good players just not wanting to play Ranked, but instead farming Unranked because they find farming so much more fun ?

 

Who is going to help those who get farmed ?

 

Or do you rather believe in the "right of the strongest" and that "weak players deserve to get farmed" ? That'd be typical Elitist behaviour.

 

You only argue in an one-way way of argumentation : EVERYTHING towards Ranked.

No-one believes that Newbies and others not that good in Ranked should get protected from players exploiting them. Why ? Because Ranked is EVERYTHING and Unranked is NOTHING - people say so. This is like Black and White.

 

You simply won't get more Ranked players if you are not alloweing other players to build up expertise and experience. But a lot of Ranked players do so by trash-talking and harassing Newbies away.

 

But maybe you really don't want any new players in Ranked ? Then move on with this argumentation.
