Sharing same class storyline???

So my friend and i want to level up together with the new 12xexp story line. If both of us makes an imperial agent, can we progress together or do we have to do the missions twice?

You can visit each other phases (allow entering the same class phase in preferences), but the other one will not be able to participate and progress. Your class story = your choices.

Yes. It would not make any sense otherwise. Class stories with actions in cutscenes, conversation choices etc. are built around 'one' individual having personal story progress.

Also, if you think about, if you each did a different class, you'd each have to do your own storyline, so there's not really any 'extra' time involved.

Plus, after you've watched the cutscenes once, you can skip (spacebar) through them the second time.

Having leveled with members of the same class on numerous occasions, the way we usually did it was to quest together for everything outside the instanced class story areas, and simply split apart and solo'ed those. You're still playing together for 95% of the time (if you do all the sidequests), and even some of your non-instanced story missions can overlap.

You have to do it twice, one for each phase, I just went though the same thing with a friend of mine so...

That's viable under normal circumstances, but with 12x XP it's likely that many players are skipping some or most of the non-class story content available.

With 12x, this would look like this:

 

1) Do the same quest twice. Repeat 3-4 times on a given planet.

2) Go to your ship for a cutscene. Possibly head to the Capitol world to visit your boss (twice!).

3) Go to the next world and run through the 3-4 quests there but do each one twice.

 

As you can see, this is getting pretty pointless. If you're going to duo, it's more fun to select different classes (or just solo all your class missions, and with 12x XP why duo if you're going to do that?). I recommend Operative healer and Assassin tank. Two of the greatest stories in the game, and if you ever want to queue for a FP you get an instapop every time.

As you can see, this is getting pretty pointless. If you're going to duo, it's more fun to select different classes .....

Yeah, with two different classes it becomes:

1) Do 2 different quests. Repeat 3-4 times on a given planet.

2) Go to your ship for a cutscene. Possibly head to the Capitol world to visit your boss (each!).

3) Go to the next world and run through the 3-4 quests there but do each 3-4 separately.

 

Bottom line - not much different in time, but perhaps a bit less boring.
