Though I know there are plenty on this server who don't really place too much stock in the leaderboards (and admittedly, they don't necessarily exemplify all aspects of a well-rounded pvper), they are something that makes game after game of what has been many of the same maps since launch something a bit more interesting. Sometimes a leaderboard-worthy moment will sneak up on you and someone will say "Hey, take a screenshot." For me, I suppose it adds some distraction.
