It works but you need the actual physical disk to play.
Rankyn
If by "work" you mean "provides a pale imitation of the former game" then yes.

Foune
I tried it and it worked great, was pretty boring though. Only time I played it in retail was when they all those specific classes, this seemed like a vanilla patch and there wern't that many players online. TheNahash
...and there wern't that many players online. so, basically, it felt just like when SWG was still, officially, alive.
Jnaathra
It "mostly" works, but they are still doing wipes. Ultimately I figure Disney will swoop in one day and deathblow the entire project. -shrug- Sucks, but thats how life works.
jeremyofmany
A guild mate of mine who played SWG for 6 years speaks very highly of SWG Awakening. Several members of our guild who own the original SWG have loaded up this emulator and are having tons of fun. They now play SWTOR much less. mefit
SWG was dead on arrival and dead after NGE and CU . But I would not mind at this point with all the Casuals and Easy Mode coming to SWTOR for a SWG2 to come out . As for the EMU , it is more dead than SWG when it was live . Problem with that game is it was more Player supported than Content Supported . So largely you have to use your own imagination . Personally I play games for Story , like a good movie , and interaction with other players . SWG had good things for player interaction but not enough players to do it with . SWG is a nightmare to SOE and Disney + LucasArts seem to largely not care and ignore that people have since made private servers of the game . Kinda feels like being disowned . Truth is if the game had more player gripping content , the game would have did better pre CU NGE . But vastly Casuals have taken over the market and no one wants to be patient and work for goals anymore . Hence why all the crying over the 12X EXP being taken away on the SWTOR forums . Today's Gamer cannot handle games like SWG , too much grind , too much thinking , too much work .
Wodaz
I play on Bloodfin EMU, its a great mix of pre-cu and its heavily modded to resemble some parts of NGE.
Manwe
The NGE got a bad rep because it was released half finished (and because they made Jedi a non-Alpha class), but they eventually got sooooo much more content put in it. Something between the preCU and CU systems for combat, plus the NGE content would have been the perfect game. There are a lot of emulators out there, at least one for pretty much every major stage of the game, but most of them don't run well or aren't finished yet. It was like a quarter of the way finished at best, and an alpha version at that.
