The BURNINATOR - Extreme DoT AOE Semi-Tank PVE Vanguard Hybrid Build

Hi all

 

this is a build I sometimes use for Flashpoints with my Vanguard

 

It's a "semi-tank" build that focuses on dealing insane damage with Explosive Surge

 

You won't be using Ion Cell but Plasma Cell so you're not an actual tank but you'll be taking aggro

 

It's great for trash mobs, somewhat good for overall tanking (if you have a good healer), somewhat interesting for PVP (purely for big scores and utility)

you need to be at least level 50 to make it work so there's no point leveling with it

Why not move a point into Ionic Accelerator? It would make those situations where you have to single-target something significantly better, because Ionic Accelerator is that awesome.

The joke was Assault Spec had significantly better defensive cooldowns, and as such could be hybrided into a tank. It sort of worked in a few boss fights too, but I wont be pulling it on my NiM Progression raids any time soon.

I've played all of these with varying degrees of success. I'd never take these into NiM ops and I would only take the PvP pyro/tank hybrid into ranked PvP (even then only in group ranked where people knew the strengths/weaknesses of the spec). But I like to mess around with hybrid specs in FP's and SM ops.

Really does seem crazy not to have a point in Ionic Accelerator when you're already there...

 

While we seem on the subject of posting hybrids though...

 

Here's my probably silly 14/32 hybrid tank spec...

With Reflexive Shield, Reactive Shield is up every minute or so and you're constantly getting little bubble shields, almost like you have another bubble proc relic. With Shock Absorbers, you take less damage from aoes and when stunned. Super fast interrupt, longer Hold The Line, and the option to change to High Energy Cell for quicker soloing. Also you can build up Pulse Generator in HEC before a pull then switch to Ion Cell.

Thanks for posting hybrid builds for dps/tank. I'll enjoy these so I can que up tank/dps slot and get faster pops.
