These latest Collections Prices...

I am a bit disappointed at the higher prices. However, I will not campaign against the ability of Bioware to earn profits, so I will digress for now.

Hopefully demand remains constant, and if not they adjust the prices accordingly.

They are looking into it ATM.

I can't help but wonder how they are going to "set things right" if this is indeed a mistake.

Plenty of people have bought the unlocks despite the high price.

Maby they'll give back the CC to those people?

But how will they deal with the messed up drop rates?

I don't see an easy solution to that. And right now the market is completely messed up because of it (Some things that are supposedly pretty common are so rare that they are selling for millions.)

If it even turns out to be screwed up all they are likely to do is fix the drop rate. They aren't going to refund money or give away CC. The drop rate is probably screwed up, but I'm still confident the unlock prices are intentional.

Yeah, I was thinking about this too today. They have a pretty good track record of doing things in a fair manner for the players, but until they express the status of the two issues, it's difficult to project how they make things right (if they indeed acknowledge accordingly).

I was super excited that the RNG loved me, and I got the Xoxaan top in one of three packs I bought. I picked up the rest on the GTN, dyed it on my main character, and went to unlock it on another.

..Yeah, that was a fun surprise.

I'm disappointed in this raising of prices. I already sub, but the fact that it cost over 5 dollars to have another pretty outfit on another character, is just annoying. Yeah, yeah, that's less than dinner at a fast food place, but still.

Definitely disappointed. I hope it's changed back, be it due to a bug or on purpose.

It's still 1/3rd of the monthly subscription price...

I agree. It's one thing that Collections unlock prices take rarity into account, of course - but to overcharge because of 'perceived desireability' is....dare I say it.....gouging.

ah yes, the idiocy of a free market. people, including bioware, charge more for things based on what someone will pay, regardless of something's actual value or use is. this system may have been around forever, but it is still pretty stupid.

although i would agree with having older (and thus less common) items being charged more due to rarity on the GTN, i find charging two things with the same properties, that do the same thing, and have the same ingame rarity differently from one another ludicrous.

fashion is really sweet, but spending 10 mil on a saber, in which another one for 10K serves the same function, is insane. everyone has their opinions on what they like, but would anyone even spend that much? there are limits on how far everyone is willing to go, but the high resistance to massive prices is so far it is insane, people should stop spending so much on frivolous things.

not only does charging cosmetic items differently make no sense from a logical perspective, but i doubt bioware would know exactly what people want. the GTN sellers would be able to adjust to changing fads, but for bioware to closely monitor the popularity of every item on the market and then alter their collection unlocks to make a quick buck is impossible.

even if bioware monitors every transition on the GTN, trades, etc. and notes what people are paying for these things, they cannot guarantee that popularity will remain for more than a week. not only that, but everyone has their own opinions on what they like. someone may pay 1000 CC to unlock a super-spiffy rifle, while another person would have to be rewarded CC to even use that weapon they hate it so much.

i personally think that bioware shouldn't be interfering with the way the market is. i think the players should have control over the free market, despite so horrible they are at running it, and that all collection unlocks should be the same depending on the type.

all crystals: 600

all vehicles: 300

all weapons: 250

and so on...

now if bioware wants to tweak out the rarities and drop-rates on all of these items so be it, but if someone already has it they should let them unlock it without any other factors. if someone deems a particular item worthy of account-unlocking than that thing is worth it to them in particular.

the community's opinion of the item shouldn't be a factor because they are unlocking it for them and not anyone else. they are permanently binding this item to themselves so that they can have it, and now that they have bound it. now it can no longer be released into the market so it is no longer a variable for the market, therefore it shouldn't be anyone's concern anymore.

Collections unlock has always had a whiff of the bouncer at the door of the casino, taking a cut before you can go home to the family. Doubling his cut just discourages you from visiting the casino ever again. Arguably a good thing, I really shouldn't spend so much time, money and effort on digital fashion.

On this plus side its great to see them encouraging people to buy more player crafted gear, I did got to all that trouble running underworld missions for set schematics, its nice to get some use out of them.

Yeah I considered ourselves lucky to get a response on the matter in the first place.

If we're lucky Monday, if not Tuesday.

I'm not sure what they'll be able to do to remedy the situation, though. Lower the collections prizes, but then get a boatload of grief from everyone who already paid the higher cost? Refund everything individually? Adjust the drop rates of the pack and get the same load of grief from the folks who already opened crate after crate?

They can always do that which they did with two items already, which were either removed or not introduced in one of the cartel packs: Sell them on Cartel Bazaar for one credit, each.

Different situation altogether surely but it would be a start, assuming someone did mess up with both the drop ratio and CC unlock increase.

It would be best to adjust the drop rate to match up with what we are used to. As for the pricing what they could do would be to lower the prices and give out like 500 CC. I mean it isn't much but idk what else they could do.
