Introduction

 

Howdy folks,

 

This is Kenji from Dead on Arrival. Given the 2.4 update comes two new exciting operations and the transition of this thread. Those who took their time and dedication for this thread before me will be recognized, so shall I quote Z:

I need to recognize those who have come before me, Maris, Zinaire and Arashi, for maintaining this thread and for Magnius for gathering past info. Thank you for your time and dedication.

Progression Rules

(Last Revised Jun. 14th, 2013)

 

Story Mode Operations

Upon completion of a new kill or full clear in a story mode operation, please post your guild name, raid size, and a screenshot (or video) of the last boss that was cleared.

 

Hard/Nightmare Mode Operations

Upon completion of a new kill or full clear in a hard/nightmare mode operation, please post your guild name, raid size, difficulty, and a screenshot (or video) of each successive clear.

 

Guild Progression

Each boss must be cleared in the order they are encountered in the operation. Boss skipping is not progression and will not count towards a guild's progression. In order to count a boss clear towards a guild's progression, there must be more than 75% of the operation size consisting of guild members. This means there must be 6+ out of 8 or 12+ out of 16 members having the same guild tag depending on operation size. If the minimum requirement isn't met, it can only be counted towards an operation group (see below).

 

Operation Groups

Every time an operation group progresses, the progression clear must consist of 50% of the original members from the previous clear. This means the operation groups are allowed to substitute 4 out of 8 members or 8 out of 16 members depending on the operation size each time an operation boss is cleared. The naming of the Operation Groups cannot be the exact same as another guild regardless of faction.

 

Acceptable Screenshots

Required:

  1. Screenshot of the kill is taken inside the instance.
  2. Each ops member's name is visible in some form.

 

Size/Difficulty Indicators: (As long as one of these requirements are met)

  • [Example] Ops Leader's frame showing operation size and difficulty inside the instance.
  • [Example] "Achievement Unlocked" which details operation size and difficulty of boss kill.
  • [Example] Screenshot of the corresponding boss loot.

 

Server Ranked (Only available for Hard/Nightmare Mode)

Progression rankings will be based on Achievement time for each individual boss and title run, which is the most accurate basis we have for the time being.

 

Screenshots (Or videos) will be required to show one of the following while still abiding the Required rules from above:

  • [Example] Clear time on the achievements (Server Time, which is PST/PDT)
  • [Example] UTC time of the clear

 

I will be personally inspecting the achievements themselves for validity should the need arises or two guilds have relatively close clear time, unless the achievements are known as bugged.

 

Last but not least, if a guild happens to have an earlier clear time than the current rankings, simply post the screenshots and achievement times. The server ranked will be adjusted accordingly.

I asked this the last thread, and was not answered but what constitutes a sister guild?

 

They need to be genetically linked :rak_02:

 

All seriousness, I've done digging through SWTOR and even WoW forums about the idea of "sister guild" (Both games have completely different concepts BTW). But in SWTOR most "sister/brother" guilds are faction oriented. Guild A is on the Imp side while they "merge" with Guild B on the pub side and vice versa. Therefore both Guild A & B become a sister guild to one another. If it's same faction, however, I don't see why they just can't recreate the guild into a larger guild. Thereby sharing a /guild chat, XP/Rep boost, Guild Bank, and all of the other perks of being in one unified guild. Though, some may argue that the guild bank is a reason why not a lot of mergers happen. My solution: dailies :jawa_wink:

Regarding this portion of the rule:

If a group pulls in 2-3 people from another Ops group in order to first time clear content, it won't counted here but grats on the loot and kill.

 

I would allow and count such clear towards a guild clear for now as long as the pugged members are given due credit. I understand some may disagree with this, so please go ahead and discuss the said rule before the final rules are set.

 

Also, the new contents are full of surprises and fun [as intended by the devs]

I doubt there's a uniformed definition of what a sister guild is, but in the case of DoA and DL, they are two individual guilds that joined together to enjoy contents in SWTOR.

 

The make up of their members are different, the ideals of the guilds are different, but they do share a similar goal in clearing PvE End-game content, 8man or 16man.

 

Take note that whatever the circumstances are or how we call ourselves "sister guilds" (Which is irrelevant to the thread, to be honest), the progression made by the ops group when the two joined together, we claimed it as neither DoA's nor DL's, but Doomed on Arrival's.

I think Z copied a lot of those rules from the harbinger thread and because of the ambiguity of these rules, large debates have erupted in those progression threads. For example, " Also, going forward one person can only be counted in one progression team" does this lock the specific toon or player? I think if you have these rules you have to come up with set definitions of what they mean. Another example is, since my guild has a number of alts in other guilds would that make us sister guilds?

 

Also for this server, I dont think everyone should have to share a guild tag in order for a kill to be considered a guild kill. On every team in Hit and Run we have people with different guild tags because we want to foster a great community within our server. We invite people from many of the smaller guilds to come raid with us and to join our raid teams. We do this because of the small community of our server, we want to take advantage of the fact that there is at most only two instances of fleet, compared to the harbinger which normally has 6-7.

If you have people from other guild in your progression raid to promote solidarity among the community, is it not contradictory when you claim the kill as your own guild's kill which can be seen as a selfish move as the members from the other guild is not getting any credit? Give credit to everyone if you want to promote solidarity and claim the kill for the raid group not your own guild.

Here the thing though, only doa seems to find it selfish, all the other guilds(there are at least 7 other guilds that raid with us) that we have done progression with have never had any problem with us not giving them credit, and this can be because we do all the planning and leading of the raids. But I really don't want to argue this because I feel we will never reach a common ground. Hit and Run as a guild has decided that we will not be posting our progression here, and will instead post it in our own recruitment thread.

Is it really that big of a deal to give the other guilds credit? I mean, let's be honest, there are two goals trying to be achieved here:

 

1) H&R wants more recognition for leading/running the ops

2) Other guilds want credit for helping out.

 

Now, with those two goals listed out, it's clear that one of them can easily be proved fair. And that is number 2, because you should give credit where credit is due and support the people who come into your raids and support you.

 

Arguing against that shows disrespect to the people supporting you, which is fine I guess if those guilds don't have a problem with it. But because your goal here, I'm hoping, isn't to make sure the other guilds don't get credit and that you want more recognition, perhaps you can come up with a better alternative?

 

I don't see why people can't have "Hit and Run + DoA" under an achievement in the progression list, but I'm sure there can be a more reasonable alternative.

Every 16 man op we did we did with people from Doomed Lemming. And we acknowledged them for their help and claimed the kill under a name that reflects the contribution of both parties. Sharing success does not belittle your achievement.

I've changed the coloring of the Empire side from Red to DarkRed, and Republic side from Blue to RoyalBlue.

 

Let me know if yall like the change or not, it can be easily reverted back to the original coloring (Which were burning my eyes :rak_03:)

 

As for the rules, us colonists will come up with something of our own! I'll revise those and come up with something once I've dealt with my own laziness.

Understandable. Though our progression is not bleeding edge of the server at the moment, I still understand the need for validity.

 

I'll probably just try to get a shot with the group with our guild tags, the loot, and the achievement from now on. May blow open my raid frames all the way to show that we're only 8 as well. Not being the raid leader, I don't have access to some of the other ways to show it.
