Scrap bolster for 55 bracket.

Updated: completely reworked suggestion based on this thread. Unable to change title, but this suggestion works for all PvP brackets.

No gear is given out. This suggestion will NOT affect PvE in any way.

Scrap bolster for all warzone brackets. When entering warzones:

- Have a dialog box pop up with 2 options.

- Option 1. Overide stats from gear with standardized, predetermined, competitive PvP stats (could be un-augmented Partisan). Have checkboxes for DPS or tank stats.

- Option 2. Use unaltered stats from gear, exactly what the toon is wearing.

Default would be Option 1, works for both 55s and lowbies.

Suggestions welcome.

Instead of this boldtering garbage where PvE gear can end up better than PvP gear, simply replace all the non-pvp items "under the hood" with default recruit items in warzones.

So no matter what non-pvp item one wears, it will be replaced with a default set of stats. To some that might mean a reduction in stats (though they would get expertise IN EXCHANGE), to others it would mean an overall increase in stats.

Whenever the amount of expertise on an item is less than the amount of expertise on the default recruit piece, simply use the stats from the default recruit piece instead.

"True" PvP gear would still be better, ofcourse, but the increase in stats could be kept relatively small there, so they might give an edge, but not a guaranteed win.

Result:

-Not a chance to ever get anyone rofl-stomping a warzone by merrit of some operations gear, or even worse, by merrit of NO gear.

-No need for PvP-ers to optimize their gear using PvE barrels etc. from raids. That was a pretty stupid thing that happened at the end of pre-makeb.

Now we just need some proper encouragement for those who gathered all their PvP gear to move on to ranked games. Maybe open up ranked for pugs, and whenever a player goes over a certain expertise tresshold, automatically place him/her into the ranked queue instead of the unranked one. All depending on the gear he/she has equiped when signing on. Disable gear switching within the warzone (even before the starts) and when someone switches gear while in queue, have him/her automatically re-que.

Stop signing something you will regret. I'd rather they remove expertise entirely and use the bolster system to give everyone the exact same amount of expertise. Allowing us an even playing field, so we can tweak stats that actually matter to us.

Yea and in that case BiS PvE gear would be the best pvp gear. Every serious hardcore pvper would have to grind operations to be competitive.

Real smart.

We all understand bolster is needed for lowbies because of level differences.

But for 55's, don't change what wasn't broken before bolster. Improve the old system instead.

Scrap bolster for 55's.

Give everyone Recruit MK-III for free.

Itemization for the Recruit MK-III set: exactly the same stats as Partisan, but blue so you can't augment them. Still big incentives to grind Partisan, but wearing Recruit will be very competitive in WZs.

Voila, problem solved?

Although I'd prefer fully moddable starting gear (hey, just because it's an entry set doesn't mean that I don't want to minmax it), this solution is definitely viable.

/agreed. very simple. very sweet. everyone wins. newbies get a full set of competitive gear. veterans get to grind and min/max a full set of gear to gain a slight edge. very simple. very sweet... of course common sense solutions tend to be simple and sweet.

Well, the problem with gear itself is that more than a few people don't wear, or even get the free Recruit, because reading in-game mail and item tooltips is too hard for them.

Dumb people are a dead weight in warzones, but without gear they can't even really be used as meat shields\cannon fodder, because they get cut down in seconds. And that's a problem that new Bolster was supposed to solve.

I believe the main point of the bolster system was to remove the need to make a set appearance and gear for a new recruit set each expansion. Instead the bolster will give stats without having to design a new set of gear. The problem is simply their math. Eliminating bolster and adding recruit gear set doesn't solve the problem. Sorry, but I do not support this thread for these reasons.

They will not do this. Partisan not augmented is OK for doing HM FP 55lvl - so u have a free gear to do this. It should be on BH level (61) not modable.
