Did game sub go up in price?

This is something that actually needs to happen.

State sales tax laws were suspended (for the most part) on the Internet to foster e-commerce and help build up the net. But it has also drawn off billions in revenue that these states should have been bringing in due to those sales, and that has led states to suffer under various budget crunches.

The sooner those taxes go back into effect, the sooner the states begin to recover a bit, IMHO.

Stop yourself right now. We DO NOT NEED anymore taxes. We need someone to track the abusive spending and find out just where in the heck all our money is going.

There's been a lot of threads about this already - it's not Bioware doing it specifically, just some states have shifting tax laws. I've been paying tax on my sub since day 1 here.

BioWare is doing it specifically in that BioWare is charging you the tax. In doing so, they may or may not be complying with state laws regarding tax collection for internet services.

However, since they are calling it a "tax" on your bill, they must by law forward the funds they collect for it to a taxing authority.

Yes, yes, I get the "NO NEW TAXES" meme.

HOWEVER, the sales taxes being suspended for internet commerce was something from way back in the 1990s, not the current round of tax cuts and so forth, and the sales taxes have been collected for many, many decades in the states.

The state sales tax issue really has no place in the "NO NEW TAXES" area. The states need their sales taxes back. It's that simple.

The other issues of legislatures needing to be held to spending caps and such is a different argument entirely.
