Tiverius
Your PC is fine, your video card is not. I would recommend buying a new video card and get some more ram. DDR3 is dirt cheap right now.

Tiverius
Whats your budget? I'm not sure what the wattage is on a Dell power supply but I imagine you can't go to high end. Also, Newegg has a 4GB DDR3 kit for $20 with free shipping.
Lureei
swtor runs fine on my 4850 on high settings, have 40+fps should run fine on yours aswell if u want a rather cheap and excellent card id go for the 560ti or 570. (MSI twin frozr 560ti is so silent u can hardly hear it, thats a huge + in my book )
ArrowCool
I think that is more than adequate to play on low settings. I am currently playing on a PC with a Core2Quad at 2.4, only 3gigs ram, vista premium 32bit, 7200 rpm HDD, and a 8600GTS video card with 512 ram. Granted my settings are turned all the way to low, but I still get a respectable 35-45 fps. If you haven't tried yet, turn off shadows.
NaimiIflya
What video card would you recommend ? NVidia prefered. Anything thing that's at least a 460+ or 560+, depends on your price ranges. For between 100-200, I would suggest the GTX 460 or the GTX 560.
Tiverius
I have a Radeon 5450 on my HTPC, it won't do too well with this game. See how low it compares to other video cards (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/mid_range_gpus.html). Those two mentioned video cards are great. My concern is the power supply that came with the Dell system. (and how much he wants to spend too)

beemerz
Still have the spec receipt from 6/2009 when I got it but it does not show the PS wattage. Whats a safe bet?
ArrowCool
I think he's got a 460W PSU on that machine. OP needs to confirm. Probably needs an upgrade if he wants to put a decent GFX card in there.
beemerz
Well I cant open her up at the moment to check but I will later. Assuming I want a GTX 550 what is the min PS I need?

(MSI twin frozr 560ti is so silent u can hardly hear it, thats a huge + in my book ) That 5450 is not in the same catagory as the 4850. It is the lowest tier entry level card, whereas the 4850 is a decent mid-high end card. I would prob stick with an ATI card just because systems built by companies like Dell can be a little finicky, they tend to cut corners on their motherboards. The 6950 is a solid bet, but you def need to check if your power supply can handle it, the nVidia 560 is comparable if you really dont want ATI. Kunitsukami
A 5870 will run every game on the market at the moment on full settings if the rest of the system is fine.
Tiverius
Even if his power supply is 460w (I googled some reviews on that PC and it said 460w as well), I don't know if a Dell power supply has the PCIex power connectors to power a video card. If that is the case, you will need to look at the fastest video card that does not require a separate PCIex power connector. EDIT: Actually nevermind that, you can use a molex adapter to use one of the regular power supply lines for a video card. The GTX 550/560 will take 250 watts under load, the HD6950 will take 225 watts. Your 5450 takes 15 watts under load, so you will prob need to upgrade your power supply to 650 watt. Rhazz
You guys are focusing too much on the wattage...the important info is how much amperage is on the 12V rail.
Tiverius
If you want to stick with an Nvidia GPU, the GTX560 has the best price/performance. Newegg has an EVGA 560 for $165 (about $35 more than a 550 and much faster).
verzin
I'm buying an ASUS Nvidia GTX 560 for about $180 on newegg (I know I can get it for 20 cheaper, but I'm very fond of ASUS). That should fit your needs for quite a while. and when it doesn't cut it anymore, it'll probably be in the $50 range and you can just grab another and slap it into SLI. Iskandarian
I've got a Asus G60VX-RBBX05; Processor Intel Core 2 Duo P7450, 2.13 GHz 4 gigs of RAM Graphics Processor / Vendor NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M Video Memory 1 GB DDR3 VRAM I play everything on the very lowest settings, no shadows, and pvp is unplayable, with enemies jumping all over my screen. load and lag times are almost 3 mins between screens, there is mad delay between my character's attacks, sometimes, i have to spam buttons and it still doesn't do the move... i'm seriously considering an upgrade in hopes that i can play this game somewhat smoothly in the future... Tiverius
Unfortunately, that's a laptop. Upgrades options very limited. I would try to optimize your laptop (i.e. latest drivers, shut down unnecessary programs and processes and turn off shadows). Beyond that, there's not much else.
