Darthforey
I found this article amusing and wanted to share it with some more star wars fans. Enjoy. http://cosmiclog.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/01/11/16468880-white-house-thumbs-down-on-death-star-thumbs-up-on-space?lite
FoolsErrand
Cute. I'd read the Death Star petition shortly after it came out, it's amusing to see that they rose to the challenge.
sstanks
yeah sorry but the ability to destroy an entire planet (with a plantary shield btw) is far more powerful then the ability to stand on your head while balancing a mupet on your head and stacking small rocks with your mind. jzheng
I read it too. It was pretty hilarious and whoever thought of it up must be a Star Wars https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/response/isnt-petition-response-youre-looking "The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it. The Administration does not support blowing up planets. Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?" Lmao

annabethchase
While there are a few flaws in the plan, it would be wonderful for job creation. We'd need all kind of raw materials gathering jobs, processing jobs, construction jobs and design jobs. Each of those categories were once high demand jobs in the USA and now they've fallen on hard times. Maybe a bi-partisan committee really should look into something like this. Maybe start it as a housing and scientific project and see where it goes.
