No to a X-realm Dungeon Finders with automatic teleportation à la WOW. I've said this thousand time already.

I find the actual "who" list fine enough. The General chan of the Fleet is also working pretty well.

As I said yesterday the biggest problem I can see isn't that there isn't a easy "queue for instance LOLZ Lewt" button. I think we call all agree that taking the responsibility and accountability away from grouping is in general a bad idea which tends to encourage ninja looting and epeening instead of effective group dynamics.

But there is still room for better LFG tools. Having a /who panel that actually showed everyone would be a very good start (it's still currently bugged for guildies and searches) having a global LFG channel would be an even better one. Neither of those solutions remove accountability or communication.

Personally I would like the ability to at least see people's advanced class and level as they queue so i know if we're going to be underpowered for the flashpoint, but that's just me and I can understand the reluctance (because while it is a far way from armory lookup and gearscore it's still heading down the same path).

As for everyone who is saying "LFD ruined WoW :. we shouldn't have anything like that in Swtor" remember that ultimately community isn't created by Bioware or Blizzard -- it's created by us. If we make a community of immature jerks the onerous lies with us, no one else.

I think we need a lfg tool, that when you click on it, you are transported to a single player version of your instnace, and upon trying to loot the final boss, your game crashes. I am a psychology major and im pretty sure this would work to wheen people off this, "i dont want to wait 10 whole min for a grp" nonsense

I don't think they should bring LFD tool but... if they do I think it should be only used within the server your on and not cross server (like WoW's) that way you would still only participate with people on your server. That way community would'nt suffer and it would keep people from being rude and keep the ninja problem down because it will make them that are rude and do ninja think twice because you have a reputation with your community on the line. I think it's not really needed though as I haven't had a problem forming a group, or joining another group if needed. For the people that want LFD stop being lazy and talk to people. Use your community ask other players to join you on your journeys thats all it takes and "be nice" even if someone you group with sucks and doesnt know what their doing, try to teach them thats what I would do.

Just big no no to automated LFg tool, it just makes the world feel empty.

What, on the other hand, is pretty damn awesome, is the LFG System Aion had (before the automated crap).

It was a very well done UI where you could click what you needed for your group. Then people interested in a group would open this window and apply to a roll needed. You just clicked on "apply to group" and the info was sent to the group leader.

After making a group you would have to WALK there, no summoning, no instaporting. It was very good, was easy as hell to find party and you could actually see people in the world.

Put me down as a full-throated supporter of the Dungeon Finder from That Other MMO Which Shall Not Be Named and for the eventual implementation of a comparable cross-server matchmaking service in TOR. The simple fact of the matter is that in any multimillion person population, there are going to be a not-insubstantial number of jerks and other social miscreants. Automated matchmaking services do nothing to empower them: There will always be the potential for loot drama and griefing whenever you get a random group of people together to go dungeoneering. All Dungeon Finder-type systems do is make it easier to get another run going if loot drama or griefing comes to pass.

But to each his own. I'd still prefer to do a flashpoint after a short wait in the queue over spending half-an-hour spamming the Fleet General channel for warm bodies at off-peak hours, even if it meant the apocalyptic community sunderings predicted by those who do not desire a Dungeon Finder-like feature.

no offence but creating a manual group with randoms doing it the other way is actually really not alot of difference that using the LFG tool than you would in rift/wow.

how many of you actually go into a converstion beyond "hello" when you join a group with randoms?

how many of you actually add those people to your Friends List after the completion of a Flashpoint and then go with them again in the future?

I bet the answer to those questions for the majority is a "no", and the ones that can say "yes" fall into a small minority, (I've myself actually tried initating converstions, during story decision making choices, before/after a group, midway to bosses etc and actually get no responses... most of the time it's just a "hello" and "thx for the party")

I do get the points for manually creating the group and can see the benefits if it works out but honestly how many of you actually socialise with your randoms?... in all the groups I've joined up so far (which is alot, for both questing and Flashpoints) 98% of them party chat has been relatively quiet.

I'm not fully against a "LFG" tool, nor am I in favor for it don't get me wrong, in all honesty I've actually seen alot of people just standing around at the flashpoint terminals just waiting to join a group (this is more so if you're DPS due to a shortage of spots per group created).

That has been my experience in wow, sometimes not even a hello.

On Aion, on the other hand, it was really nice to party with people, a lot of em ended in my friend list, and we actually played a lot together. And was after doing a run with randoms that I found the guild I ended up joining.

It's way, WAY better than the automated thing.

Lots of whining... stop being lazy LFG takes 3 keystrokes. Just as bad as all the people in General asking how to play their character when theres a tool tip help guide staring them in the face and a in game Manual called the codex.

Plus there already is an LFG tool... open your Social Window click the button that says....FLAG FOR LFG... type in comment. Voila.. if that doesn't work for ya ask in general.

no Do not add a LFG tool, use the already existing Who tab when you press "O"..

If this gets as automatified as wow, people will start to drop as dead rabbits.

The reason why we NOT want a LFG tool is beacue:

1. People no longer need be social to find groups.

2. An MMO game is supposed to be living, not automatified, like in wow where u can stand jumping around in any major city until you gets telepiorted the isntance automaticly..

3. We have seen this before, people doesnt even say hello when they enter an instance.

5. Too get invited by a groups you will have to be some what social and kind, this wont be anylonger.

6. I stopped play wow beacuse you didnt have to do anything, just stand and wait until a group is ready - wich is totaly retarded and boring.

My vote is a major NO for a LFG tool

1. Typing LFG is being...social?

2. MMO is supposed to be living yes, but I would rather not waste my time running to instances. If you like to run to instances through 20 waves of mobs, be my guest. When they implement teleports to instances, just don't use it.

3. No one says hello. I am level 36, done plenty of heroics, and I don't think anyone has said hello. Everyone knows what the quest is. You just go do it.

4. So the only way to be social and kind is by LFG. Right.

5. Sorry, I like to stand and wait while the group is ready. You find it retarded? A lot will find it convenient.

Like every other reason for not implementing a LFG tool, or addons, or any other convenient feature that exists in other MMOS, none are actually reasonable.

I am shocked someone hasn't said go back to WOW if you want a LFG tool.

You don't have to sit on the Fleet to get into a group. As you quest you can put it out there on the planet.. seen that many times and groups forming for it as well. Everyone should know by now though overabundance of dps = less opportunity for groups. And I'm just guessing most of you who complain are dps because thats the group that always complains... and then complains the dps queue times in an automatic system are too long etc etc... Then again as dps, tank or heals. I've never had much of an issue finding a group aside from first couple days due to leveling too fast for the masses so was just a limited amount of people for higher level content. Automatic systems that I have seen lead to meetings with extremely rude and inconsiderate people, to include purposely wiping, griefing, ninja looting etc etc. Leave out an automatic system if anything make a seperate screen just for Flagged LFG people so you can filter through and put together a group yourself. Making groups yourself can lead to meeting new people who are actually decent people and can lead to forming new guilds, alliances, friends etc. It embodies the MMO aspect of the game, instead of the feel of a FPS.

To all the people saying a LFG tool is not as social as typing in General chat "Tank LFG Esseles" every 30 seconds and never getting a response because most people that might be interested in doing a flashpoiunt are sick of doing just that and have moved on from the current general chat to quest, need to get a grip.

The real social aspect of the grouping for something is when you're actually in the group and enjoying the content together, not the feeling of typing LFG or LFM or whispering "invite pls im a tank/dps". working through the content and coming up with ways to get down that boss that's annoying you or whatever in party chat is where the real social aspect comes into play.

just my two cents..

Yes you have if you want to do a Flashpoint, if you want to do a group quest it's another story of course.

I would like at least to be able to search for a group for a flashpoint while being anywhere in the galaxy.

For the group quest of course it's not big of a deal while the game is full of people leveling, it will become an issue in the next months tho.
