swtor has less servers than rift!

Ya, you're correct. Another 300K have probably unsubbed since April. So there are only a million people playing this game. That's still three times the number of Rift right?

Well 23 servers x 3000 server cap is 69,000. Take that as 10% and that would say no more than 700k players.

Common sense would tell you its no where near 1 million people playing the game.

No, just no. RIFTS zones are nowhere near the size of some of the planets in TOR. Hoth can probably be compared to 3 of Rifts zones, Belsavis may as well be another 4, and Ilum another 3. I dont even remember how many zones Rift had but they are nowhere near massive in size.

hoth is the same or about the same size as Stillmoor is. You also have to figure in that zones in Swtor are just strips sectioned off, where in Rift it is one huge area seamless tied together by the other zones connected to it.

Hoth has a little strip which leads to a little strip which leads to a little strip which in all makes up a sizeable amount. Making it feel bigger.

You mean:

SWTOR has FEWER servers than Rift!

Generally speaking, it's less+singular idea (non-countable) and fewer+plural (countable), though there are occasional exceptions.

For example, one would say "less information" but "fewer players".

? Isnt it expected that only 10% of subs play at a time? Thats why 70k became 700k

Also I dont care about the people that have subs and dont play. This game could have 20 million subs and it would still be exactly the same as it is now if the extra 19 million dont play.

And what would of this game peaked at if it wasnt Star Wars... honestly now. Rift is unknown name made by an unknown developer. You can try and hide behind the lies of 1.3 million players but somewhere inside you has to realize its only because its Star Wars and made by one of the most popular game makers in the industry. Rift has way more things to do then Star Wars does. It also allows for far more customization. Im not even saying its a better game... im just saying....

Sorry, but to me this is tripe.

I didn't like Rift, Eve, and many others because of game play, boring, snoring, blah. I do enjoy SWTOR, and I never played Galaxies or other SW based themes.

So that falls under what? SW name didn't bring me to SWTOR, nor did BW and diffinitely not EA. It was the actual game play of SWTOR, and it does have a great story too, in my personal opinion.

You are not saying it's a better game ... but you are saying ... (it).

By the way, what ever SWTOR would Peak at is probably well done and gone now, at present, allowing for the growth that could happen.

If you hadn't noticed, as many seem to have and others have said (that they were "them") people have re-subbed, even if temporarily to see whats up, and whether they stay or not, that is an increase in sub numbers.

To OP, reiteration, Server numbers =/= server populations.

WoW has dead servers, EVE has 1 server, Rift ... meh.

Well, anyhow, just a quick post before a council meeting, and when i get out I am going to play and forget what I can.

May the Truth be with you, erm, the Force too. :)

Oh, cmon... everyone knows the Gamebreaker show is a joke that caters to the haters and trolls. Besides, their so called "specialists" barely play anymore.

Gamebreaker is pretty much a GW2 fanpage at the moment.

Just like they were for this game, before launch.

Just like they will be for the next big thing that comes along.

You hit it right on the head, except for the fact that not everyone knows this.

The OP, for example.

You bet, I mean they want to get the most ammount of viewers so they jump on whatever is popular at the moment, they are doing everything and anything to overhype GW2 as much as possible.

But a year from now you can expect the swtor show and maybe even the guild wars show to be canceled to make room for an Elders Scroll Online and a Titan show.

Gary Gannon is a admitted Troll. He doesn't play swtor anymore but has a recurring sub, and trolls every single game they talk about.

Larry Everett plays Swtor everyday and likes the game. He defends it unless it is something that bothers him, like losing his character names in the transfers. Or lack of chat bubbles since he is a rp'er.

Justin Lowe plays the game still, he is a pvper and raider, he defends the game a lot unless it is an obvious issue like end game bugs, also runs Darth Hater which is a fansite for swtor.

Ed Park is a pvper and doesn't give a lot of attention to pve because he likes to pve almost non stop. He likes the pvp in swtor but gets annoyed with Bioware's attempts at balance.

Calling these guys haters and biased trolls is retarded. Gary, yeah he is a troll like nobodies business. The rest of the guys are subscribers who like the game and aren't afraid to either defend what they like or pick apart what they hate.

Get over yourselves

The company that created Rift, Trion Worlds, is an unknown company but the lead man, Scott Hartsman, is a very well known individual. Ever head of EQ2? He is the creator of that. Would that explain more on Rift's failings?

I think most people were referring to the Gamebreaker-affiliated one of the bunch, not the other, obviously more level-headed guests.

I forget which thread it was, but someone said it best: Gamebreaker is the Fox News of the gaming world. And by that I mean they are (objectively) not news and (subjectively) horrible.

no where did you get the number from? Where did you ever hear that only 10% of a mmos subscribers play?

It was a number put out by Blizzard some time ago and rightly or wrongly used as an approximation since for all MMORPGs.

I dont know who or if there is a 10% rule or what the actual number is but using the data she collected and the subs that bioware released, taking a 10% as the amount of people that log on is acurate in this case.

Where were all the no way its not 10% its only 5% back then? There wasnt because the numbers fir together. Now when you do it you have to make it 5% or else the numbers dont fit the 1.3 and you dont want to think this game only has 700k +/- players now (which would also fit the average loss of subs since release numbers) you would rather change the percentage.

The 10% is an average over time while also taking the subs as an average over time. 10% dont play at 3 am its much less as is it much more than 10% at 8pm. But on average it works to be 10%.
