Let's do it ourselves!

Hi all!

There have been alot of negative discussions about declining populations, dead servers and lack of transfers of late. Since BW have not really addressed those issues or leviated the problems in a timely fashion, we could actually do something ourselves :)

How about we in The Community decide on a few servers that are not Tomb of Freedon Nadd or Fatman, and alot of us reroll on those until they fill up? That would make for a much more fun experience for all I think.

How about:

Europe PVP: Basilisk Droid

Europe PVE: Dune Bantha

US PVP: Bondar Crystal

US PVE: The Harbinger

I will re-roll on Basilisk Droid right now, and perhaps I will see you there.

It's a really good initiative, I hope that your destination server will fill up soon. It might work because it did for my server (Jedi Covenant). Since about a month, some players and I kept encouraging players to reroll on Jedi Covenant and it gave excellent results (always Heavy or Very Heavy from 7pm-11pm EST). Edited by Sammm

How does rerolling solve anything?

It doesn't solve everything but it sure made the game much more enjoyable for me. At first, I didn't really believe in rerolling but I gave it a try about a month ago. I chose Jedi Covenant because someone suggested it in the forum. It was so amazing to see hundreds of players on the fleets.... and 87 players on republic Taris! I already said it but it was really like playing a whole new game. Since then, I never regretted my decision and I will probably transfer my previous main character to Jedi Covenant during the transfers.

I understand why someone would choose to reroll. Higher population is more fun, healthy economy is more rewarding, etc. Believe me when I say my enjoyment of the game is severely hampered these days by playing on a completely dead server. However, it's not just my legacy that's keeping me from rerolling (again, I did it once before). I'd seriously hate to have to level my crafting skills again, as RE-ign everything is a complete pain in the arse. Plus I'd miss the handful of people who, like me, keep logging on faithfully now and again if only just to chat ;)

I'm not sure I get it? You want a company to pay you to reroll? Is that it?

he thinks like me, i suppose.

im not gonna leave my 5 50's behind and reroll on a new server, paying bioware again money to do so, because they cant get their things right :)

I like the thinking, and the positive attitude that we can still salvage something from Biowares monumental F up, but for me, and probably many others, rerolling is just not a solution.

I have only 1 level 50. The rest are 47, 28, 25, 21, 20, 17 and 14

All 8 characters are maxed out with crew skills, and i have alot of Reverse engineered discoveries in all the crafting proffessions.

My main has full rakata healing gear, and half rakata dps kit, my companions have some pretty uber gear. She's nearly valor rank 60, although only full battlemaster kit.

It might not sound like much, but i've invested alot of my time playing these characters. As a mother to a 9 month old girl, my play time is very sporadic. This week for example, i've had 4 days off the game straight, purely because random RL events require my time and attention.

Its quite difficult juggling being a mum, keeping house, and keeping my man fed and happy, with my enjoyment of being a gamer.

Rerolling is absolutely NOT an option for me.

Its taken me this long just to nearly get another lvl 50.

Like i said, its great initative on your part, and i admire that you still have hope. But Bioware need to address the population issue, rather than quietly hoping the players will (specualtion)

I never understood how they capped the servers, at what felt like pretty lowish populations. (more than likely wrong, but the figure i heard tossed around was 5000 per server) Apparently its to do with their hardware or something, not going to pretend i understand it all, but to me it does seem a bit pathetic that in december 2011 on launch, there wasn't better technology available to them. That or they weren't willing to invest in.

They made an absolute balls up of release and the servers. The cap was too low, and there were far too many. IMO they have left it far too long to try and sort out.

And now there's talk of server transfers?

This, coming from the makers that really drove home the message that they wanted community to be a huge part of the game. Tranfers wont help whats left of each servers community, it'll break them further.

They need to look at merges instead. At least that goes someway to keeping guilds, alliances and friends together.

I hated playing wow towards the end of last year, the community on the europe servers F ing stinks. Couldn't wait for Starwars.

And yet yesterday, i resubbed :-/

I'd rather play with a**holes, than stand alone on the fleet all day, or level on planets with only 5 people on.

Sad, i had such hope for this game. It had enormous potential, Starwars being the epic saga that it was. Shame that Bioware and EA have comepletely fluffed it up from day 1, and ruined it.

I understand your frustration. If you'd never come back to SWTOR, it'd be totally comprehensible. The server populations issue should have been fixed since at least 2 months I'd say. We can't change the past and I really hope Bioware learned from that (unintentional?) mistake.

At first, I didn't fully understand why they'd do free transfers to specific servers instead of simply merging some servers together. Then, a couple of days ago, I think I finally understood their "plan". Like I wrote in a previous post, the upcoming "super-servers" change a lot of things. Based on this new piece of information, the logical course of action in the next two months would be:

1) modification of the servers architecture to increase substantially the server population cap (this is the merge we waited for so long without admitting it is a merge)

2) free transfers to a specific super-server (I bet they'll also inlude the option of transferring whole guilds so that guild members can stay together)

3) paid transfers to another super-server if you really don't like the ones they suggested to you

I could be totally wrong about my prediction but it seems logical.

So, I hope we'll soon you in SWTOR after all this! :)

Actually, I think part of the problem is that they did NOT add enough fluff to the game.

There are hardly any social things to do in the game. I was looking forward to wasting a few hours on Nar Shaddaa playing Pazaak in the casinos for some side credits (or to lose my credits).

I understand why some of you have issues with rerolling on a new server.

The initiative was meant as a way to have fun with the game until we get either merges or transfers, instead of just waiting - which is not very fun at all, I think.

So, I still hope some of you, or really ALOT of you, decide to come and play :)

If I wanted to reroll, I'd pick Tomb of Freedon Nadd. As I said, I've rerolled once, only to end up on yet another now dead server. No offense, I'm sure the servers you suggested are lovely ones, but I'd rather reroll on a server that's sure to survive and not at risk of turning into yet another dead server. Edited by Sauska

how do you guys still defend this F up after F up game?

I was going to give you my answer but then I checked your posting history. You came back after 3 weeks of forum inactivity to ask this question. Based on that observation, the way you formulated your question and the fact that you unsubscribed about a month ago, I don't think you really want a real argumentative discussion. So, I'll pass.
