  1. I never understood this..... Why all this talk about server populations, decline, number of subs....? Why not, you know, play the game until you feel you are done with it? It's not like you have any power over the game what so ever. Someone else made this, not you. You play - they make - end of story. Your contribution to this is that you pay to play, they sell to live - basic economics really. If you do not want to buy, then don't, and if you do, then do. Is the game declining in popularity? Not here, not in my gaming room, not from the chair I am sitting in. It is still fun to play are several years. Will my amount of fun somehow be lessened by the fact that a smaller amount of people like it today than they did a few years ago? Hardly. That would be incredibly shallow and show serious signs of pack mentality and the need of being one of a large heard. I do not need that. Neither should you. Dare to be an individual! Do not care what other people say about what you should like or not like. Just..... Play the Game! It is still great
  2. But... we are entitled to it..... It is another cash grab from Biofail! Another falied update..... and my favorite... It should have been in the game from the start!
  3. No worries. They will be fixed and until then, just run with tank-spec.... or skip PVP with it.
  4. We sure have gotten alot of new cool armor since the start, but.... It should have been in the the game from the start!
  5. If you do not like getting more XP than you feel you deserve, perhaps due to the possibilities of outleveling content, there are some thing you can do to battle this game-killing problem. 1. Play the game in Black & White so you cannot see the color of the quest text. If this is not possible, just play with a pair of old school 3-D glasses that will filter out reds and greens. A good pair of sunglasses might work too. 2. Do not upgrade your gear or, even better, use inferior gear to combat your hysterically inflated stats. 3. NEVER train when leveling! Doing this will kill the game for you! 4. If you, by an obvious mistake, have trained new skills you should not have in the first place, because BioFail, remove those skills from the hotbars ASAP!! If you do the above, you will be able to play the game even when there are bonuses to the XP gain. Oh, just to keep yourself honest, you should remove the space-bar from your keyboard so you do not risk accidentally pressing it and thereby missing out on, perhaps, the N:th rerun of the, fully voiced, quest lines. If the mere thought of missing ANY of the content makes you sweat and twitch nervously, also make sure you have a clear path to the ESC-key, just in case. That way, you can smash the little bugger as soon as the quest speech seems to come to an end and you can both read it and listen to it again, over and over. By doing so multiple times during double XP-weekends you delay those horrible extra amounts of XP. Oh, and never run. Always walk. If you run, you might miss something, and that would also speed up your XP-gains to incomprehensible levels.
  6. Hmmm... this sounds like a no-issue. It can go one of two ways: 1. You want the offered stuff, pay for it and then get it and likes it. 2. You do not want the offered stuff, keep your money and moves on. The dyes clearly states they are 2-color packs. It is no secret that armor is 3 colors. Each pack can be previewed before using it. It is stated that it is random. To complain about it is really just a waste of time...really..... Move on!
  7. Yes, well..... after a lot of cries about low pops on APAC servers..... now it is finally possible to consolidate and bring everyone together in one (mostly) happy bunch. HUZZAH!! Oh..wait.... now there is one more thing to cry about isn't there? SWTOR - The glass is always half-empty.
  8. I do not get it.... Here we have a great game, which many of us are hoping that can live on for many years, and that game went F2P and relies largely on income from what you would call "milking the populace". You HAVE options... You CAN sub and get all content and game modes for 30 days to less that the cost of going to the movies and seeing a Michael Bay flick. Or.... you can play F2P and only pay for stuff you WANT, that is stuff you did not get free in the first place. Things like unlimited Warzones, Operations, Flashpoints, lootdrops, XP acceleration, high quality gear, and so forth. Now we get another option. Character re-styling that we can pay for by using CC. Not really anything that is vital for the game, is it? You buy it if you want it, or else you roll up another toon with the correct likeness and play it during weekends with XP-boost while it lasts. Same goes for all the stuff in the Cartel shop. Nothing vital really, nothing we have not been able to live without in the past. A subber gets complimentary CC each month. They never seems to expire so one can stack them pretty high, or one could use them to alter ones toon or getting the new Cathar race or whatever. To each his own. My point is this - There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that forces anyone to spend CC in SWTOR. But I get that there must be a few out there who gets the old nerdrage by the mere existence of the Cartel shop - but to those I want to say: Use your energy elsewhere! Write a book, create a song, or cure cancer - this is a game and as such it has no real consequence. It is supposed to be fun. If it is not, do not play it. And to Bioware I say: Keep on with the Nickle-and-Dime approach if that is what keeps this game afloat!
  9. Yay! Awesome! Been here since day one and still enjoying it on a daily basis. Wow. Has it been a whole year already? And I have still not completed all the storylines, only 3 imps to lvl 50, so given my haste, I will be done with the other five in 14-16 months By then, we will probably have even more to do so it looks like I have my entertainment cut out for me for a long time. Now, time to gather up all the guildies and make a seriously big fireworks show.
  10. Easy there. Do not blow a gasket. We do not know what will be in the expansion yet, do we? Yes, Makeb and increased level cap has been mentioned before, but I am very certain that there will be alot more changes coming with the RoHC. I am looking forward to this very much. We were "promised" before F2P were on the table... but such things change. Now, BW needs to make some money so that we can continue to play the game. That certainly trumps all "promises" in my book.
  11. So, in your own interpretation, even XP boost are P2W since it is possible to skip some quests during leveling? How about creating a character and place it in a cantina for a long time to get alot of accelerated XP to be able to skip a few quests, and during that time just pay sub... is that P2W too?
  12. I really enjoy opening those packs and look forward to the new stuff. I have zero issues with BW making money on those things since, you know, they are in the business of making money. Now, let's hope they hade fixed the bugs that came with the items from previous packs... like the Devastator doublebladed lightsaber f.x.
  13. I have seen alot of complaining about the restrictions for F2P players, calling this and that "stupid" and "gamebreaking", not to mention the popular "this will FAIL". So in the name of constructivism I will ask the question; How should the plan look for BW/EA to actually make any money on the F2P? I want specifics here, things that would actually work. And please... keep it constructive and above all feasible and very resonable. In other words, behave like adults or do not answer.
  14. Yep, Maelstrom Prison is really great, and so is alot of the other flashpoints. Some might be a bit too simple in design, but on the whole they are all fun experiences during leveling. At endgame, the FP's might get to feel a bit boring as you will run them over and over again to get gear, but if done with a PUG, all Hardmodes can really be a challenge to complete - and therefore alot of fun. I like this thread It is a fresh breath of air to actually read something positive for a change. I had mostly given up coming to this forum thanks to all those who thinks they are entitled to this and that just because they pay a fee. Mostly their demands are more out there than Star Wars - and not so few thinking everything that gets added to the game should have been in the game at release. It is baffling really. So, glad you had a good time on the flashpoint. I really enjoy this game too, being an altoholic myself and with 4 more slots to play with I actually will be able to see how the Rep side lives
  15. No, they did not, and if they were a bit ambigous at one point, it has been cleared up the last copule of weeks when they have repeatedly stated what was going to be in 1.4. It really does the game no good to spread these false accusations, even if they are based on a lack of knowledge and fact. I really love the saying "If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all" and "Better to be quiet and let people think I am stupid, than open my mouth and prove them right"
  16. Is is the hardcore players that needs a little love this time around. Now is the time for softcore to create a few new alts to fill up the 4 brand new slots we got from the consolidation - or level up one or more toons to 50 and get some gear from HM Flash Points so that they can experience all the glory that is Operations. There is nothing really in that which is mindboggling really.
  17. Love the game too, so I would like to address a few of your points; For the dailies, there is a really fast spawntime on boxes, so if someone ninja them, it just takes a few seconds more to complete it. It's not like there are tons of players on Illum doing the dailies all the time. About the content, I completely agreee! Something needs to happen fast. It was fun doing Lost Island, Karagga and Denova over and over until it became second nature, but now that we are there and nothing poses any real challenge the game starts to become stale and our eyes starts to wander to greener pastures (and they ARE out there). I have only played one toon to 50, granted, but my others are 45,43,43,40,36,34, and 22 - meaning that I have endured for quite a bit of time waiting for new things to do with my main character. World events are cool and all, and a new companion is OK I guess, but they are no substitute for lasting content I want to play over and over again, so... ALOT more of hard FP's and OP's, pretty please with sugar on top? And give us HM on ALL the FP's, and Nightmare Mode too (both FP and OP) while you are at it - that is really not negotiable! It is not hard to create new stuff in the Hero engine, au contraïre, you only need to allocate the people to do it, that's all. And I for one is not picky about the Voice Overs, as long as I get new stuff to do I am happy as a clam to read about the mission from a terminal (as I suspect the VO's are actually the main bottleneck in the production of new content). This post have made me kind of depressed about the state of my favorite game....
  18. I have found next to no decline in server activity despite all this BS about GW2 taking over the playerbase. Yep, GW2 is a great game but a whole other beast compared to SWTOR. They will coexist. I manage about 2 hours tops on GW and then log back to TOR to calm my nerves and rest weary eyes and ears. Also, I could really not care less about the server population... as long as I can find 3 others to play with me through H4's the game is great, and I can. And to get together 8 good players for an EC or KP run is not problem either. 16 for World bosses might take a few minutes more but is completely doable. I play on The Progenitor btw...
  19. I cannot seem to find anything about that in the text on the box. Do you mean that they should have included more than they said they included... just trying to figure out how you think. Could it be You who think it should be included from the start, and because You know that the universe rotates around your person, anything You think should actually be Reality and if it is not, something is Wrong with Reality, as opposed to you posessing some form of super-inflated ego? Which is it? You really need to give me a hint
  20. OK, this is My take on this; I like this game and hope to play it for a long time. If BW wants/needs income in the form of me paying for content, I will pay to keep the game around. Is it "wrong" of BW to squeeze more from their loyal subbing fanbase? Perhaps it is not the wisest move I have ever seen, and perhaps the person who put it forward at the meeting should look for another job asap - but things are like they are.... If we want to keep playing this game, we will have to abide by their rules - and the alternative is to Not play the game. No point in ************ about it really.
  21. Ok, on a positive note, it feels nice to know that my post reached someone from BW and not just the usual crowd from the Negaverse. Looking forward to actually getting some conformation on an eventual, possible, launchdate for the fix - knowing full well that the fix will have been tested and is considered foolproof. And on a sidenote; For those of you feeling the need to complain about the patch and it introducing new bugs BEFORE the patch has launched, try focusing your awesomepowers on something actually useful, like next weeks lottery numbers or perhaps a cure for some today uncureable discese. That way, we might have a chance of a better climate here on the official forum. Turn Negativism into Positivism dammit!
  22. The problem goes like this: 4 persons in a group queues for a Random HM FP After Quick Travel to location, all HM FP quests fills up your questlog if you dont already have them, not just the one you were randomly selected to do. Now, as one ofter the other enters the FP location, all the others who have arrived there gets a popup about "travel now?", but if you select that you want to travel, despite already having arrived, nothing happens. If anyone dies and exits the FP and the reenters, the popup will come again to those who did not exit. When FP is cleared, you will not get your BH Commendations. There is a workaround to this.... all you have to do is continue doing random flashpoints until you hit the one that will give you commendations, hoping you get a new one each time you queue. Keep it up and you will eventually hit the right one, but it will VERY rarely be the one you do first. Another way is to enter the queue with 3 or less people and taking on one or more randoms. So, let's hope BW fix this before all the guildies leave. EDIT: BW have their info on display here: http://www.swtor.com/support/helpcenter/6560
  23. Dear Bioware, You did something to our groupfinder a couple of patches back. If my memory serves me well, it was at the same time The Minefield stopped working correctly. Since then, we have seen you fix the minefield, introduced a World Event, and also released a patch to fix said world event. But the Group finder is still broken. You have noted that there is a problem with it, it says so on your Known Issues page, and you know the exact time when it happened. You have also been flooded by tickets about missing Black Hole Commendations on a daily basis, up until the point of you having several days backlog resulting in unsatisfied customers. Your Customer Service have shown an almost unprecedented range of skill in handling this issue, ranging from quick and expedient granting of the BH Comms, via a standardized reply requesting more information that might very well already be in the sent ticket, and in the other extreme shifting blame to the customer by stating that I was not able to "do the daily random HM more than once per day" as if I was a little child needing a teliing-to and not a reasonable intelligent man who have played this game daily since release. I have now a friend who I loved to play with who have canceled his sub after being manhandled by CC, but this was really just the drop that made his cup overflow as he was really disappointed by how you destroyed WZ play with patch 1.2, but still it lessens my enjoyment as I am losing my gaming partner. Would you be so kind to fix the Group finder for Pre-made groups, and inform all your CC agents of the known issue so that I wont get anymore "reset your UI"-answers when I dont get my BH comms and my questlog fills up with all the HM FP missions just by activating the que and get endless nags of quick travel? Thanks.
  24. I am still here and expect to be for a while longer despite the issues this game has; 1. Patch 1.2 effectively killed PVP and at lvl 50 it is simply not fun anymore. Good fun for leveling though. 2. For all the grand words about the marvellous Hero engine and the ability to 'drag & drop' content into the game on the fly without any need of patching, I have seen about Zero of that. I can live with the engine but I have issues with being lied to - and in this case BioWare just plain lied to me to get me into this potentialy expansive, chaotic and changing game with alot of GM's interacting with the players, cool content popping up everywhere and maybe even the promise of a chance to get that unique item that noone else has. That was not what I got, but I can live with that. Game is still fun. Would be nice with an apology though.... 3. I have never seen this amout of negativity on a community forum. Frankly, if this is how SW geeks behave I might have to reevaluate my own participation in said community and perhaps go to the Dark Side and become a Trekkie instead. So, mostly I just try to stay away from the forums here and instead play the game as much as possible. Community IS an issue though, at least tools-wise. Could we perhaps get even the most basic functions during the first year or so? 4. World PVP did not work because Hero Engine. Well, it DID work for me since I actually upgraded my system in anicipation of this game so when most players got 10 FPS, I sailed through it all on max settings with almost no speedbump to my FPS, no matter how many players were in my field of view.... But everyone could not do this because Money. Not really a big loss... World PVP has never been a big thing for me. 5. Space Game - while being fun for a few hours, it can become repetitive to say the least, up until the point of me being able to run several missions without looking at the screen. I am not saying that all content should have the exact same target audience and that is completely cool. A game should garner for players of all sorts, but to afford such luxury the game needs to very vast and really have more content than could ever be needed. If SWTOR had that amout of content, the Space Game would be a great addition to the plethora of other minigame systems - but being the Only such system it feel just out of place. A SW game, IMO, needs to be designed with vastness in mind. There should be far too much to do than could ever be done even if leveling 8 chars on the same server. This would be near impossible to create using the traditional way of creating MMO questchains, wich is actually quite time consuming. How about introducing a little randomness into the game? It is not that hard and would make this game much more alive. Here is how to do it: 1. Write a simple system that allows for every NPC in a characters Filed Of View to have a chance of becoming a questgiver. This quest should be unique to the character, but let it scale with groupsize. 2. Write a Random Quest Generator using any number of parameters. More is More so use alot. It will not take many hours to do this anyway. 3. Make all the quests time limited to create a sense of urgency and also as a way of purging unused quests from your systems. 4. Let the generated quest play out in the open as much as possible. There is a big difference in catching the pocket thief in the cantina on Vaiken Spacedock as opposed to in a small instanced room in a back alley on Tatooine. 5. Create incentive to do these kinds of quests. Such a system would be awesome if coupled with the Dailies. Just think about it... randomly generated dailies.. I can almost taste it. Come to think of it, it could also be implemented into the Bonus-part of all quests. Random bonus requirements....could work. Anyway, this game could be so much more with just a little afterthought. I will be here a year from now if things do not go completely south with the F2P going live.
  25. Ah, so it is only for formed groups then.... well, I have not used any other way with the groupfinder so that might very well be correct This means that they "only" screwed guilds' and regularly grouped friends' experience of the game..... and in the process also screwed up an OP and a FP. Hmmm.. someone does not know how to verify the patchdata they upload to their servers. Also... I have yet to read any reaction from BW on this issue.... only the Minefield error on Denova.. well, only the subbed will know tomorrow if they manage to swat all the bugs during the 2 hour downtime.
