What is the origins of the Imperials

The in-game Empire is the remnant of the Sith race on Korriban, after the Republic culturally and racially obliterated everything the original Sith ever built. The Emperor gathered fleeing survivors during the xenocide and fled into deep space, eventually rediscovering Dromund Kaas and settling there.

If you mean The Imperials from TOR era then thats easy as of right now most of the Imperials belong to planets that the Sith Empire enslaved at the start of the war before the treaty or were giving to them as per the treaty the ones who dont fall into that category have been apart of the Empire for Millennia through their family but aren't of the Sith race or Force Sensitive so they stayed citizens or went into the Military. Hope that answered your question

So Imperials as referred to in the movies, the Legacy Era and the Imperial Remnant New Republic all originated from the ingame Empire that the Sith Emperor built during the Rebirth of the Sith Empire?

Cool that is consistent with the Galactic History clip on this website - http://www.swtor.com/holonet/galactic-history (BTC1251).

However, in that clip there is a reference to the Imperial People helping the Sith Empire rebuild on Dromund Kaas. This would indidcate that the Imperials - who aren't Sith - have a history seperate to the Sith and Fallen Jedi and that the two factions (Sith and Imperials) converged after the Great Hyperspace War when the Sith fled Korriban and headed into the Unkown Regions and rebuilt their Empire.

It's similar to the Galatic Republic having a seperate history from the Jedi and the two factions converged when the Jedi joined the Republic.

Sounds like you are a bit confused on the term Imperials.

First there is the generic, encompassing term: any person living on a planet that is under the domain of the Sith Empire is an Imperial, this is regardless of their class, status or species. In the game this would include the Sith(the Force using Sith definition, not the species definition) and all non Sith.

Then you have the more direct definition, and one which I think the Sith tend to use as a pejorative: Any person living under the domain of the Sith Empire that is not of the ruling, Force using, Sith class is referred to as an Imperial. In the game this would include the Moffs, Imperial Agents, and other military personnel as well as the civilians; but would exclude the Force using Sith like the Sith Warriors and SIs.

The Imperials from the game are either descendants of those that escaped the Republic's scorched earth policy during the end of the Great Hyperspace War who eventually found and settled on DK or those that have conquered by this Sith Empire(remember the Empire has conquered many planets in the Unknown Regions besides the ones we see in the game).

Chiss and the Bounty hunters are fringe Imperials because the Chiss willingly joined the Empire in exchange for no Imperial presence on Csillia or their holdings and BHs are contract employees.

The Imperials from the movies are the inhabitants of former Republic planets who became Imperials when Palpatine formed the first Galactic Empire in Episode III.

I get what your saying.

It's just that in the link I posted it implied that the Imperials were a faction, like the Galatic Republic, who where conquered by the Sith and both factions combined formed the Empire.

However, I understand now that you have the Sith Empire/Galatic Empire and the non-force sensitive people living under the Empire's rule or those who are affliated with it are commonly referred to as Imperials.

Thanks.
