Obi Wan vs Dooku....

So is the chief reasoning behind Obi Wan getting lolpwned by Dooku (twice actually) still cuz he was simply tired? That's it? He sure looked like he had plenty of energy/willpower/confidence left right before he fought Dooku.

He's supposed to be the greatest practitioner of his style ever, right?

Soooo.....

Well Dooku had more experience and was a far greater duelist than Obi-Wan was.

Dooku taught Qui-Gon it isn't unlikely that Qui-Gon taught Obi-Wan what he had learned from Dooku, this would mean that Doou would know alot of Obi-Wan's moves and tricks.

Obi-Wan wasn't near the swordsman that Dooku was. In fact, he wasn't that great a swordsman at all. He had excellent Defense, and he was a master tactician, which helped him win countless battles. He was also an expert at finding his enemy's weaknesses, and exploiting them. But as for raw talent with a lightsaber, he wasn't all that great. Quite a few times, he trolled his opponents into getting sloppy. :p

Dooku is The Greatest Practictioner of Makashi.

He is to Makashi what Obi is to Soresu.

Rhyltran made me realize something in a discussion about the Forms. All Prequel Characters that Sword Fight are the greatest users of the form they show.

Obi-wan= Soresu

Anakin= Djem So

Dooku= Makashi

Mace= Vapaad

Qui-Gon= Ataru

Though the only one I may find debatable is Qui-Gon... Yoda's primary was Ataru as well...

You realise Obi-Wan was the greatest Soresu practitioner of all time, right?

Yep. He had 6 foot thick lead wall defense. The ONLY way Vader beat him on the Death Star was he let his guard down and basically commited suicide.

No... Vader would crush Obi if he was trying or not. He nearly beat him in Mustafar.. Post-Mustafar he became a better Dueist.

Also Obi-Wan hadn't had a proper lightsaber duel in what....like 30 years?

And yet, he STILL gave the impression that he was basically toying with Vader. Looking for a weakness or opening. Vader was trying, and still couldn't do it until Obi-Wan dropped his guard.

Except Obi-Wan was beginning to weaken, and Vader says that his powers were weak. Eventually even if Obi-Wan didn't sacrifice himself he would have lost.

Maybe. Or he MIGHT have ended up trolling ol' Vader enough that he would mess up and "Hey, Vader. You is pwned again!" :D

Obi lost twice with Dooku because he was worse duelist than Count. Yoda, Windu, Dooku, Sidious, Maul and Anakin Skywalker were much better than him. He was although master of defense but he win with Vader on Mustafar only because of Anakin's arrogance, fury, anger and mistakes which comes from them - the same in fight with Darth Maul. He couldn't defeat Dooku because he was always calm and he controls the Dark Side and never was blinded by it.

So you are telling that Dooku was defeated by Anakin only because Darth Sidious betrayed him? Palpatine betrayed him but this didn't change that fight at all. Dooku start this duel as a show, a game to test Skywalker's strenght but then he realised that Anakin is far more powerfull than him, that his fury and Force potential gives him unlimited power so Anakin defeats Dooku because he was just better in that fight. Palpatine's treason affected only the end of fight - instead of taken to prison Dooku was killed.

PS. If you are using in your signature words of Darth Vader the Dark Lord of the Sith, do it properly, it's "knew" not "new"
