Eldrimner Posted March 25, 2012 Share Posted March 25, 2012 I don't play my vanguard much anymore but when I did I never got the 5k+ repeated crits, most posts says their vanguards do. I got full combat tech/eliminator bm gear on him(lucky with bags). I only got pvp gear on him. I moved around some mods and stuck more power and surge in them but never got any pve mods. Only pve thing I got is the relic. My hibs/ap with buffs are around 3-4k max, stockstrike 2-2,8k(when I'm not detaunted). I once hit for 4,8k but that never happened again. Also my highest damage in a wz was 580k. Mostly I'm just around 300-400k. My build is full assault. So what combination of pve/pvp gear do you use to get the 5k+ crits and 600k-900k+/wz? Also in patch 1.2 with the new gear do you believe it will be possible to do this kind of damage with pvp gear only or will you still need to get the pve set as well? High Impact Bolt damage increased by 6% (Brutal Impact)60% additional armor penetration on High Impact Bolt (Focused Impact)High Impact Bolt ignores 30% of the target's armor (High Friction Bolts)High Impact Bolt deals an additional 9% damage to burning targets (Rain of Fire)High Impact Bolt has 30% bonus damage (Assault Trooper) Those are the only 5 you really need to spec in to for it, but you'll be going pretty high up Assault Specialist to even get near that. People are getting more and more geared and the 5k crits usually were on non-geared people. 4.5-4.8k crits happen often, but dont see 5k+ crits a lot anymore. Coramac Posted March 26, 2012 Share Posted March 26, 2012 same. Same. 5k+ crits are uncommon. Once you get around 75%ish Surge, you're best off looking for power in Assault currently. Unfortunately, current itemization doesn't really leave us with much in the way of options for gear optimization. I've gotten pretty close to 6k a few times since the Surge nerf, but those are abnormalities where you have the 15% damage buff from Sentinels and the 15% expertise buff with consumables going and tage the undergeared 12k guy. I don't even remember 4k crits being the "norm" against players not drastically undergeared. Upper 3k crits were more common unless I was using consumables at which point 4k+ was very common. exphryl Posted March 27, 2012 Share Posted March 27, 2012 With BM Gear it's doable, albeit a bit harder. Your best bet as explained is replace your Enhancements with +23end/34power/48Surge enhancements which would be available on smuggler gear. Since you are a BM, use the Power/Surge Implants (as well as bm mh/oh for more power). You'll get 5k although it won't be consistent. To get *consistent* 5k 4pc PvE Combat Tech remodded to full power enhancements, you can wear PvP gear for the rest of the slots (this will put you around 10% expertise) You'll also want an 8/x/x Pyro build to maximize the 9% aim boost. I personally run 8/6/27 for my PvP Pyro build. (although 8/8/25 works just as well) Then the only people you'll struggle to get 5K on are very geared heavy armor users.
