SabreNova
Well with my new awesome Gunslinger, I decided to play around a bit with the build. I'm going for primarily Sab Slinger, with just a bit DF and SS mixed in. This is what I have: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700McZrIMbRRMRbsZG.1 This build is my other choice, a SS Slinger with a bit of Sab mixed in. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700rsdbdRsRrzZrcZh.1 First of all, Now, which one would give me greater DPS, Damage Output, "Faster" kills, and an easier time in PvP and PvE? Second, How does it look? I didn't put points into skills I saw as less useful/useless. Its my first real "Me" build that I (in what I believe to be slightly original, but if anyone has a similar/same build I apologize in advance!) designed, so its probably needing some work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! And on a slightly off note, would Corso be the best companion for me until I get the healer companion? Kinda confused on this aspect....Since I can't heal I don't think Bowdaar would be very good, but I don't know. Anyone who can shed some light on this would also help greatly as well. Thanks! Junostorm
Pure SS go http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700bsrddRoRgzZbfZh.1 Generally Sab better for PvP, SS better for PvE. Though it is really up to you. Edited March 20, 2012 by Junostorm
jayfourc
http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=367592 I like my 2/8/31 build the most in terms of pure consistent killing power in PvP. Almost half of my kills are from killing blows - DF lets you finish what you start. A lot of that has to do with the mobility that DF gives you. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700bZbIZGbbkrMGdhR.1 I'm playing a 31/3/7 build right now. Very different play-style, will post a video soon once I get used to it. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700bsrrbRoRgzZ0cZGb.1 Edited March 20, 2012 by jayfourc
Riiquiem
I like my 2/8/31 build the most in terms of pure consistent killing power in PvP. Could you please post your DF spec? Been playing DF ever since but lately I feel like I could improve it a little.
JoyProtocol
Be aware of 1.2 going live "soon", and that it will bring noticeable changes to the spec tree. Few, but noticeable. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=363056
jayfourc
Could you please post your DF spec? Been playing DF ever since but lately I feel like I could improve it a little. Copy and paste error. Meant to post it originally - just updated that post. One thing I'm changing from my normal playstyle is opening up with vital and shrap bomb instead of hemo. This could help a tad bit with the energy recovery in the first 3 GCDs before I start my wounding shots. The primary reason though is because I think I'm potentially missing out on some of hemo shot's effects at the end of wounding shots since I've let vital/shrap tick into the 10 stacks from hemo already. After playing SS for two days I think aside from the mobility/anti-LOS that DF gives you, the biggest different to SS is how other players react to you. Seeing big numbers pop up tends to draw attention quickly. With DF, everything kind of creeps up until it's too late.

Few, but noticeable. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=363056 For DF I think the changes make our damage more consistent from engagement to engagement due to the free hemo and cheaper wounding shots. However, BW toned down the "burst" damage that you can get from a full rotation. The changes to SS might make Burst Volley worth it.
SabreNova
On a side note, can anyone tell me who is the "best" companion for a Gunslinger? Im using Corso, but he's the only one right now. I don't know if I should use the others when I attain them, aside from Guss because Healing would be nice.
Junostorm
I dropped Corso like a hot tater once I got Bowdaar. Corso's harpoon was bugged, you turn it off, zone to another planet, go up an elevator, etc.. turned in on. The later fixed it but by then I was using Bowdaar. Started using Guss once I was near 50. SabreNova
I'll see how Bowdaar runs with me once I get him, assuming he's not glitched up still.
JoyProtocol
Is this true? Ihave a baby lvl 14 GS and was gonna go Sab for grenades and such but I never do PVP. Should I go SS instead or maybe DF?? Saboteur is really fun already, and is getting some nice buffs in 1.2 Saboteur Hot Pursuit has been redesigned. It is now located in Tier 4 of the skill tree and makes Quick Shot cost no Energy for 6 seconds after leaving cover. Incendiary Grenade has been improved. It now deals more of its damage in the first few seconds and snares affected targets. If the initial hit strikes a target affected by your Shock Charge, that target is stunned for 2 seconds. Pandemonium is now located in Tier 2 of the skill tree. Sabotage's range has been increased to 60 meters. In other words, you have a 1-2 combo ranged stun, with a built in ranged snare! WasabiWei
Sab is fine in PvE. I run HMs just fine and the AoE vs. tough mobs comes in really handy. Sab has enough 'straight-line' for bosses even if straight SS is a bit more efffective vs. a single target. Good enough on Bosses plus great on mobs, imo. Sab is good, looking to be better in 1.2, though for Nightmare Ops runs it does not shine.
Horror_Business
The gunslinger is a great class with lots of different and effective ways to play. Find one you like, stick with it and get good at playing your class. Learning what's fun for you to play imo is half the fun of playing these type of games. Don't worry about what other peoples builds will do for you, besides someone with a really good original build will never share it in an open forum. So... pick a tree that looks fun and start adding points into it, if it sucks respec. Edited April 13, 2012 by Horror_Business
