Proper finisher would be: Ambush + Exp Probe + Followthrough + Takedown = ~10-14k but only with Shattered Shot up on the target. As a rank 58 Sniper I can say that OP is exaggerating at least a bit. Indeed it's very frustrating to continuously hit shields, but you make up for it when you kill someone in 7-8 seconds if he doesn't have his shield up. Stun is melee range, kinda strange for a long range weapon specialist, but ok... we have a stun. Ranged attacks? Yep... am a sniper, so i guess that's normal? The point is that there are lots of things that need tweaking/fixing. For one, i'd like the cover system to be fixed. 2nd is that it shouldn't be possible for over half the classes you meet in pvp to be completely immune to your attacks for 10 seconds or so. If someone gets the drop on me as a sniper, i can understand the loss. But when i engage someone from 35m away and he just goes immune and beats the snot out of me, then we have a problem. Or if someone is running away at low hp and i try to take him out, he just deflects all my shots, with his lightsaber while having his back turned towards me? That just doesnt make sense. Yep, you shore do I totally don't understand the epic wall of text QQ from this post. i know you were *****in in your thread how stuns make everyone OP, but the reality is that ops are still very good if played right despite that... i know cuz i get targeted by them all the time, and if i don't have my trinket up, i'm dead... here's a TL;DR for you anyways cuz i'm nice and the OP's complaints are valid for snipers: 1. 2 bugs that suck for snipers the cover root bug and the unknown effect cover bug, need to be fixed. 2. MM snipers - we do weapon damage which has to go through armor and shield mitigation, sorcs don't, bh's don't - force and tech attacks have no mitigation, it'd be nice if we were equal with them 3. Lethality snipers - good damage, if their dots are not removed by healers 4. cover defends against ranged damage, not force or tech damage, so basically only good against other snipers, to everyone else it does nothing to protect from damage 5. he's wrong about entrench, very good against everyone especially ops like you! 6. he's wrong about our cc's and utility as well, you should read this paragraph as it's about operatives, maybe you 2 can fight about who thinks their class sucks more 7. he complains about sorcs and stuns... like you were in your thread! Drilberg Posted March 2, 2012 Share Posted March 2, 2012 my mate plays a sniper and he completely *********** wrecks people , ofc he might not do that much dmg on a tank with defensive cds up ,but WHO WOULD? lol... sniper is by far the most burst dmg in the game and if full gear & played right deff a nice benefit to your raid. a well played sniper can easily **** healers NP. and once healers are dead you can deal with the tanks who handle the ball no problem anyway. LuthirFontaine Posted March 2, 2012 Share Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) I wouldn't say slinger is broken, but of all the classes we really need the most loving... 1: Getting rooted and not being able to cover is just wrong.. 2: The wierd trying to get into cover but it wont let you bug is annoying as all hell. 3: Yes we do pretty good damage but this wierd sniper frog people talk about that crits for over 90000! is pure bull ****. 4: We cant heal so I dont see why troopers and sages get to keep up with us. 5: Our cc just sucks...leg shot is the only one thats worth a damn 6: LOS is the biggest pain in the *** for us. We do have some nice features but all in all we could use a buff more then most...maybe a increase to range 40 or so... maybe a redo in cover system where if we are in cover we get an increase to power... something... As a 'just DPS' AC they don't seem to have anything else they bring to the table that a more versatile AC is not already providing. Something to take out healers like what the marauder gets would make them worth playing again. If not a healing reducer, then maybe a cast time lengthener. I'm valor 65+, close to full BM My aimed shot does LESS dmg to a tracer missle with a 1 second higher cast time and a cooldown, and less dmg than a force lightning. Take a merc: he gets a free 35% armour reduction buff plus the debuff from grav rounds for a total of 55% armor penetration. A sniper has shatter shot: 20% debuff and...for 2 talent pointsa further 20% armour piercing FOR ONE ABILITY ONLY which has a long cast time and a cd of 15 seconds. Anyone claiming to get 5k crits consistently is straight lying off their ***. I will get a 5k crit on only like a 12k hp sorc with no bubble and all my adrenal/relic popped. Hunkerdown is a terribly circumstantial move since u get LOSed all day on high-cast time "burst" moves. Any mobility with sabo/DF hybrids take 50+ energy to get off a single combo. Our "great" cc has some of the highest resolve gains in the game. Dirty Kick gives 80% resolve as well as flashbang. Anyone claiming gunslingers do great burst on tank classes is lying off their *** or not even lvl 50. The armor reduction and automatic 10% deflection chance with lightsabers make any ranged attacks inferior to other dps trees not just the whole class. There is absolutly no reason to play a GS over any other class. I can play my slinger well and am always carry my own on WZ, but if i were a sage with similar gear I would dominate not just carry my own. I suggest you actually play the game before trying to act like you know something about it. The OP may be mostly illiterate and incapable of forming a coherent sentence, but his message is pretty spot on, snipers/slingers will be in the absolute worst situation when ranked games hit, we wont even be considered on a truly competitive team. Kunda Posted March 2, 2012 Share Posted March 2, 2012 I think that, come rated Warzones, Snipers and Gunslingers may find they have their own niche to fill. With the longest range and being relatively immovable with available cooldowns they'll be one of the best classes for defense and mid control when offered some support. They may not ever pull in the most kills or most damage, but that has never been a good determination of value to a team in competitive play anyway. My Sniper buddy rips through pretty much anyone and anything in matter of seconds (full BM gear) and knows perfectly how to position and maneuver himself unlike most others.
