exphryl
Here is the text from Torhead: Loads your blaster with ion-charged gas, giving ranged attacks a 15% chance to deal 253 additional energy damage. That is based on a level 50 with green gear, so if the OP's tooltip says 500ish damage then the tooltip is broken. Anyway, spam Taunt if you are having threat issues. The Torhead tooltip is before Tech power / aim etc. Just the base value....
DjasPuhr
Given the brokeness of IGC, should we even waste talent points on things such as Supercharged Ion and Ion Overload?
frmorrison
Given the brokeness of IGC, should we even waste talent points on things such as Supercharged Ion and Ion Overload? You need one to get the DoT up for Rail Shot and the other gives you a little extra damage, even though it is very small.
Galthren
so... can we get any Dev answers to this? It's been known for awhile that Ion Gas Cylinder is broken and now someone posted proof of it, but no one from Bioware has said anything about it. I would like to get this fixed for 1.2. Xneco
With combat logs going in, I expect this to be fixed in or fixed shortly after 1.

exphryl
Bumping this up a bit. STILL showing an appropriate values and not doing proper damage. Why is it so incredibly hard to get an answer on this after months and months of this issue? Edited April 13, 2012 by exphryl
exphryl
>_< Another day, another bug report sent. (Well I at least send these once a month for this) Greetings Exphryl, I am Protocol Droid L5-E7, Human-Cyborg Relations. I have received your transmission. Thank you for contacting us regarding your ability Ion Gas Cylinder which has 15% Chance to deal 779 Energy Damage is only dealing 169 damage. Your report has been forwarded to our development team, who will investigate further. We regret that we will be unable to provide you with further updates on this issue, but recommend checking the latest patch notes at http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes for information on any fixes or changes related to this issue. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and to thank you again for the valuable feedback you have provided. Please do not hesitate to report any other issues you may encounter while playing. Galactic Support is our specialty... Sincerely, Protocol Droid L5-E7 (aka August) Star Wars: The Old Republic Customer Service Hope more people are submitting bug reports on this since they apparently do not read Powertech or Vanguard forums. Rischardo
In some ways, I really have appreciated customer support. Looting items to the wrong guildmate...restoring items that were accidentally sold; they're really helpful in that department. That said, I really hate the canned responses for bugs. "Galactic Support is our specialty..."??? Maybe you can't blame customer support for that (the devs are the ones ignoring us), but it's hard to share that sentiment when they have ignored this problem for far too long. Again, if any devs are reading this, the fact that IGC does so little damage makes the two talents for IGC (Supercharged Ion gas and Prototype cylinders) effectively POINTLESS. Rischardo
No, but I started a thread about this on the public test forums seeing how IGC will play a larger role in 1.3. Ion overload, Supercharged Gas, Prototype Cylinders IGC Tooltip: 230 damage Anticipated damage (assuming 35% armor): 150 damage Actual: 50 damage Difference between anticipated and actual: 66.67% CONCLUSIONS 1. IGC does 2/3 less damage than it should on BOTH live and test servers. As a result, any talents that increase IGC's damage by a percentage (IE: Prototype Cylinders) is necessarily 2/3's less effective. For those of you who think that this is inconsequential, here are some "real world" numbers from a recent HM Zorn and Toth kill (314 seconds). I did not have the 8% damage from Advanced Cylinders: Total Damage Dealt: 216,153 (688 DPS) Actual IGC Damage: 13,321 (42.4 DPS) Approximate IGC Damage if damage matched tool tip: 39,963 (127.3 DPS); 43,160 with +8% IGC damage (137.5 DPS) Difference: 84.9 DPS (12.3% increase) ; 95.1 DPS with +8% IGC damage (13.8% increase) 2. Both Ion Overload and IGC receive the +25% bonus from Supercharged Gas on current 1.2 servers. This is incorrect. Supercharged Gas should affect only IGC on live servers. 3. Unannounced stealth nerf of 8 to 9% to Ion Overload's base damage on test servers. 4. Announced nerf to Ion Overload's damage by removing the extra tick granted by Supercharged Gas. Theoretically nerfs Ion Overload damage by 1/3 on test servers, but see #5. 5. Discounting the incorrect 25% damage to Ion Overload on live servers, a fully talented Ion Overload will do a total of 24% less damage in 1.3 than in 1.2 per application. Keep in mind, however, that we get a second guaranteed Ion Overload dot via the new Railshot, as long as Rocket Punch and Railshot are separated by 6 seconds. Syadasti
For me, the iongascylinder dealts the correkt amoung of damage. Tooltip (german client) says 198 damage, test on Boss-Dummy (35% damage reduce) shows 129 Damage. Yeah, giant nerf to the old tooltip from over 750 damage per procc, but aleast it seams to me as the damage is and always was "correct", it was just a tooltip error. Sad but true, i think. ((Sorry for my bad english))

((Sorry for my bad english)) Yep, I can confirm that the tool tip has been changed. Even after my additional power from fully augmented gear, the tool tip now reads as 200 additional damage. I don't think it was in the patch notes, but at least we have some consistency now.
