APthug
I'm still pretty new to this game, but I love trying to come up with new interesting builds. With this spec I tired to focus on survivability and damage while still being mobile. http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/trooper/vanguard/#::f19de2fe2de2fef3efe4f2efefefdfe2f2cfe2: What do you guys think? Romgaard
No offense, but it looks ( and will play ) like crap.... U should check out some of the post below ( taugrim and others ). Rate 2/
Kryptorchid
Assuming this is meant to be a PvP build, here are the issues that jump out at me: 1. You are buffing two different Cells. 2. You are skipping the "bread and butter" of the Assault Specialist tree (Ionic Accelerator and High Friction bolts). 3. Degauss is 1/2 makign it work 50% of the time, which is a 100% waste of a talent point (go 2 or go 0). 4. Ceramic Plating is a bad PvP talent because you do not shield attacks as often as you think you would in PvP. Rebraced Armor is slightly better, but still not worth it, since your armor mitigation is situationally used since soooo many people can ignore armor in PvP. Looks to me like you would enjoy a Carolina Parakeet build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801GRGozoroZ0MZbIbbdh.
APthug
Kryptorchid, the spec you posted helped out a lot. If armor is getting ignored a lot in pvp then I guess the armor buffs really arn't going to help out to much. I'm still trying to decide if puting points into defensive measure and degauss would be more usefull then static shield and nightvision scope. gredobaggins
Degauss can be taken over Nightvision Scope but Defensive Measures is TERRIBLE compared to Static Shield. Read the Static Shield tooltip a few more times and then look at the cooldown of Harpoon and think about how often you actually detect someone with Stealth Scan. Static Shield is the arguably the BEST talent in the Shield Tree. Defensive Measures is one of the worst.
gredobaggins
Also, Supercharged Ion Cell is not as good as putting 2 points into Shield Cycler. That extra ammo regen will allow you to almost never worry about resources (when you're being attacked.) Supercharged Ion Cell looks like it's a huge damage boost because it says 25% but the Ion Cell only procs for a small amount of damage to begin with and the extra tick on your dot isn't really a huge deal in practice. IMWylde
I would have thought that defensive measures 3 second stun on harpoon would be worth the price of admission.
gredobaggins
Well... because of the cooldown lengths I usually just Cryo Grenade or group stun someone after a harpoon. IF you go for Defensive measures then don't give up Static Shields for it. That's a terrible tradeoff. Especially if you're going for Static Field in tier one (which turns Explosive Surge into a group debuff) and Ionic Accelerator and Heavy Stock. (Stockstrikes are awesome)
Kryptorchid
If you want to work in Defensive Measures to a Parakeet build, spec this: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801GRGozMdoZ0MZbIbbdh.
