ultimatesjk
I hear a lot about them and I know you get them as quests but what's the difference between a flashpoint and a regular quest?
Nucksfan
easiest explaination I can think of, if you've played another MMO, is it is an instanced quest line. Requires 2 or more in the party etc....
Maranea
They are seperate areas with a unique quest line and made for 4 people (with the exception of the first one, which can be done with as little as 2)
Natarii
SWTOR version of dungeons from other games; they are instanced (meaning your party gets its own version - no campers on your bosses) and require a full group to complete. Most of them start from the fleet.

paul_preib
They are the equivalent of what some folks terms dungeons. These are instanced encounters built around the idea of a full group (4 people with a tank, healer, and 2 dps at level). These and operations (raids-- 8 person dungeons) are essentially the primary grouping facet of the player vs. environment (pve) aspect of most MMO's. They traditionally are laid out in a way where you have a handful of "regular" pulls consisting of elite/strong mobs (some regular on low level flashpoints) each leading up to a "boss" champion level mob (most MMO's nowadays usually have 3-5 boss' per instance). These bosses usually have mechanic somewhat unique to them that force you to be a little more aware of tasks that need to be achieved for success (interrupt at a certain point, avoid area of effect damage, take out spawned waves of additional mobs, etc.)
