AP/PT for tanking

I'm still kinda new to SWTOR, but I've been scouring the BH forums trying to decide where to take my character now that I've chosen to be a Powertech. I'd really like to tank, but I don't like some of the top Shield Tech talents. The Advanced Prototype and Pyrotech ones look fun and seem to have nicer synergy. The spec I'm looking at is 0/22/19.

The idea centers around Kolto Vents. My hope is that it activates whenever I vent heat (as the tooltip implies). With KV, I should be getting health when I vent heat manually, through my Railshot (Superheated Rail), if I get incapacitated (Gyroscopic Alignment Jets) or if I'm in a bind from High Energy Gas Cylinder (Prototype Cylinder Ventilation).

I assume that most of the health will come from the rails. Flame Burst is buffed via a number of talents which then gives me free Rocket Punches. The RP is buffed and gives me free railshots. Railshots are then buffed and provide me with health.

I really like how everything seems to work together. I've also taken what seems to be the mitigation talents like Power Armor and Integrated Cardio Package. If I don't get knocked down or stunned a lot then I would move the points from Gyroscopic Alignment Jets to Infrared Sensors.

Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Kolto Vents is worthless. It only works when you manually vent heat, and 7% health over 10 sec is not much.

Especially when you compare it to similar talents from other ACs. For instance, the Gunslinger's Cool Head (restores 40 energy over 3 seconds or what have you) has a talent that also restores 6% of their max HP over 3 seconds. That's 1% less HP but it's gained 3x faster. And we know that if you aren't tank spec you are basically as squishy as anyone else (I'd say a Gunslinger is less squishy than an AP just because he has more range, powerful control, and cover) so that can't be used to justify how weak Kolto Vents is either.

Well that's ridiculous. The tooltip should be clarified to explain that it ONLY works when you manually vent heat. Hrmph. Well then...Would this spec be decent w/o KV? I mean, the free RPs, Rails and what-not? Or is it just a flimsy hybrid with no direction now?

Sorry pal, you wanna tank as powertech, go shield tech. Also, don't be hating on Heat Blast. It's a free elemental attack that vents 8 heat instantly, that could drop you into a better tier, and is on a 15s recharge. No reason not to use it unless you must use Neural Dart or Sonic Missile to grab attention.
