A Wolverine build.. I think

I wished to roll a Bounty Hunter and I looked at the Powertech specialisation. I played around with the talent calculator and created something like this

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301ZMsrborcozZb.1

Now I don't know if it is viable or anything.. So I would like to hear what you guys and girls think of the build. It is mainly focused around using Rocket Punch, Retractable blade, and Rail Shot.

At the same time, you would be using the high energy gas cylinder so you would constantly vent 8 heat and at the same time, when you vent you would regenerate 7% of your total health constantly.

Now... would this work? Feel free to come with new ideas, tweeks and so on:)

Vent heat is the ability, it is not when your heat dissipates. I think you have misread/misinterpreted what is written. In which case I think you are not truely understanding the ineffectiveness of the 7% heal. Its nice but not that great.

you are wrong there.

the 2 point heat talent in AP does vent heat periodically if High Energy Gas is active...

I think you are wrong, the poster was refering to the fact that the Kolto Vents ability does not regen 7% HP every time you vent heat but only when you use the Vent Heat ability which has a 2min CD.

In summary it is not a wolverine build.

I am pretty sure that if Bioware was refering to the ability to vent heat, they should say something like "When using the ability Vent Heat, you recover blablabla" instead they wrote "when you vent heat".

Is there someone with this talent that can confirm or bust this myth?

Does it say passive or something like that under the abilities name in your skill tree?

If so then it's probably a passive ability that is applied when you "Vent Heat" meaning when you use the ability "Vent Heat" you regen X% of your health for X amount of time.

Sorry, I just think you misinterpret the Kolto Vents ability. If you would really gain 7 % of your health every six seconds many more players would go with AP.

I never tried AP, after all that I read it has high utility but less damage than PT and less survivability than ST. But AP also has great heat management because of the prototype cylinders.

you get 7% hp every 2 min. << Period

That heal isn't worth a single point. If you could divide a point in to tenths and have 1/10 of a point to put in it, it still would suck.

The heal heals you over 10 seconds if it worked every 6 seconds why would they make it heal over 10 sec....

If you want to really get into the "But it says when we vent heat!!!!" well we vent 5 heat every second automatically, so you think we should get 7% hp over 10 sec every single second then another 7% hp over 10 seconds every 6 seconds when we vent 8 heath then another 7% hp back when we vent heat every 2min? I would like this too because we could stand there naked with no gear on and never die...

if you have one point and don't know what to do with it every single talent in the advanced prototype tree and every single point in tier 1 of the other trees are better than this.

I was really excited about that skill too when I first saw it. Then it went from " best skill in any tree" to "worst skill in any tree".

Just to warn you, the board is full of AP naysayers (me included) but I strongly encourage you to give it a go. If you're planning to pvp ensure you pick up hydraulic overrides.

I'm not looking at the tree but other good skills off the top of my head are passive heat venting, passive movespeed increase (only in combat .. another misconception), prototype flamethrower, ret blade obviously and the ret blade branch that gives a rs crit.

I think the rest are more to your preference. I loved the lower CD on grapple .. amazing for pvp. It also lowers the CD on flamethrower which is great for pve and pvp (if you can get the hang of using it vs players).

Anyways, good luck
