Just a "token" anti-aliasing feature put in then?

So the long awaited in-game anti-aliasing is this:

Off = 0 (as expected)

Low = 0 (what? seriously? please explain the point of that)

High = 1 (yep, a whopping 1x anti-aliasing)

So it's back to forced AA and hacking ini files it seems.

The mind boggles.

*Sigh* There is no such thing as 1x anti-aliasing...

It's pretty self explanatory.

Low is the lowest form of AA. 2x MSAA

High is 4x MSAA.

Sorry, but you are wrong. You can have 1x anti-aliasing. Check google if you want.

You are saying Low is 2x and High is 4x but you are just guessing. The numbers are there for you to see in your own client_settings.ini file.

.ini files dont mean anything when it comes to the level of AA. its just on /off switches in the programming.

ignorance defeats you

No, they're not. Those setting correspond to which option you chose, not the level of anti-aliasing that was implemented.

I agree it is an on off switch. Tested this morning it took the jaggies off my speeder.

That being said an on off is 2 positions not 3. If low and off are both 0 how does the program know you want low and not none?

It is sorta like low med high texture settings. Just another LIE.

To the guys saying it's an on/off switch - no it isn't.

AntiAliasingLevel is just that, the level of anti-aliasing.

I know this, as well as many others, who've also had to edit their ini files.

I've tested mine on 2x, 4x and 8x and there is a noticable difference between all three settings.

To the poster who said I was ignorant, it's the other way around I'm afraid.

But hey, don't take my word for it, test it for yourself. Probably a good idea before making comments based on assumptions and guesswork.

Why would you want a higher AA setting this game is programmed SO bad that it kills even the best video cards with 1x AA LOL

While I agree the optimization is sub-par for the hype of the game. My 580 Hasn't exceeded 60c and my 2600k hasn't broken 50c. The processor is at 4.4 and my 580 (3gb vram) has an 815 core clock, a 1630 shader clock and a 2010 memory clock. So "killing even the best video cards" isn't quite accurate while running everything on High including grass and trees at 100%. 1920x1080 res.
