Nimithril
The CPU is heavily bottlenecking this game and not the GPU. Even a single 5870 is more than enough for SWTOR. My 3,8Ghz Core i7 is working at full load while my HD 5870 is at 25% load in Ilum. My framerate is between 10 and 20 FPS there. 1920x1080, 4xMSAA. There is a built-in function in the game for determining which is of the two is the limiting factor in performance. If the fps is posted in green text, it's the gpu. If it's in red, it's the cpu. Edit. For clarity. Edited January 11, 2012 by Nimithril

Trixsh
Nor me, I think some people are just mean-hearted. In a forum for game that has quite a few players currently, this kind of treads are surely gonna get trolled and a lot. It just shows how irresponsible and ignorant the human populace is getting every passing moment of "communication" through internet. It's just really sad. That said, I don't know why these forums don't let the posters rate the posts like many other well-doing forums, where the trollposts are quickly buried as people just downvote them. LordKrell
On my server, the imperial fleet can have 250+ players at a time, plus a ton of companions. OF COURSE the fps is going to drop when running around, with so many models to load. But I don't see how that situation is even remotely comparable to a game like Skyrim (in which you never have that many models on screen at once). As for the rest, at max details I'm always running at 60 fps (vsync on), including warzones. So I dunno. i7-2600k GeForce 560ti 12gb RAM

OddballEasyEight
Read the full article here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-01-10-bioware-most-people-arent-having-swtor-performance-issues Perfectly shows how detached BioWare is from its community and confirms my decision not to continue playing this technological POS. 5% of "millions of players" is tens of thousands of players... no wonder you lost count. doesnt change the fact that "most" players dont have performance issues... Mjolkspam
If you bothered to look at any of these links there mostly to forums with people complaining about low FPS issues with that card from WoW to Diablo 3 http://forums.wowgrunt.com/thread.php?id=2517162423&forumID=1011701®ion=us http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/3123367394 http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2369737513 You might want to give ATI tech suport a call ... it dosn't seem to be an issue isolated to SWTOR I just trying to help you out Mate. Srsly, you need to undetstand that there is no problem at all with my card. I know all of that already, cause i had som problems with WoW before. But that was caused by something from there side, and they fixed it right away. I checked with ATI support, etc etc. And there is nothing wrong with my card. And you can link those links as much as you want. I still already knows about all that. This is something from BioWare side, not mine. Just get it into your head mate. Tsillah
This is another example of people who can't read. This thread is full of people who completely misrepresent what was actually said in that article. With that, the same people are angry because they feel that a lot of people have these problems. This is your personal feeling. Not an actual number. So all you people who only have some posts on the forum and your personal experience to base yourself on....stop thinking you are the majority of players. Kazmtyh
Why are people arguing with people who have performance issues? Because odds are the majority of people with performance issues are self caused, and not a problem with the game itself. When you have 10 players with nearly the same system specs and 8 of them have no problems at all and 2 of them do, how is that now a game software problem? DigitalPreto
There is a built-in function in the game for determining which is of the two is the limiting factor in performance. If the fps is posted in green text, it's the gpu. If it's in red, it's the cpu. Edit. For clarity. If you're talking about Ctrl+Shift+F, I highly doubt you know anything about hardware. (if you're talking about something else, my bad) My fps is posted in green text, 15-20 fps on the Imperial Fleet. Are you telling me that my 500 grams Asus GTX 570 DirectCU II 1280Mb that occupies 3 PCI slots is limiting my performance ?! I want to laugh but the topic is sad... Or my 4.0GHz i7 (LGA1366)...or my Corsair XMS3 3x2Gb DDR3, 1600MHz, 7-7-7-20, 1T...which one is limiting me ? I do understand that most of the people don't have problems; or so they say. But bear in mind that some people find acceptable playing a game with 30fps. I don't. Not when I spend £2000 on my PC. Anyway, something's wrong, we can all agree on that. BioWare, please work (insist) on the multicore/multithread implementation. I'm pretty sure you have top professionals working there and I'm sure you're going to figure it out; just make it a priority, everything else can wait. Anneis
I get an average of 30fps which often jerks, a very jerky 10fps or so in busy areas (ie. Imperial Fleet). I'm not a WoW fanboy trying to derail TOR, I absolutely love this game and have no intention of cancelling my subscription. But I would like the game to run smoothly on max settings on my rig, which in theory should be able to do it flawlessly. AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition @ 3.5ghz Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 16GB CL9 XFX Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5 ASUS RoG Crosshair IV Formula motherboard Corsair TX V2 750W PSU Dxdiag is posted below in spoiler. EDIT: Oh and I'm running the latest drivers for everything, and have super fast Swedish internet, so it's not my latency. And for all those people running older machines, is it because you're running the game on DX9 instead of DX11? Ortof
I have a high end machine, i7 2600k, GTX 590, and 8GB RAM - I am experinecing glitchy performance, etc .. Something is not right here .. Battelfield 3, all other games play amaxing, no glitchiness .. something is wrong with the performance of swtor, which is suprising since its an old engine .. I have a dual core AMD 2.4 with 2 gigs of ram and a 9800 GT Nvidia and I run the game as expected. No glitchy performance but my load times aren't the greatest. All in all I run the game just fine. Not being a fanboy, not lying or stretching the truth. I am just chiming in on the fact that my 4 year old machine is doing just fine.
zaknaphein
Legions of Lettow here , me and my whole guild and the server experience this "perfomance issue" in warzones and even in 16man raid instances.....everyone i talk to says the same thing..abilities delay or don't even activate....seriously are we the minority? If you keep ignoring facts like that then im deeply sorry for what is to come..
slapchoppa
1. Game Booster 3 2. Minimize game and then restore. They do something in their splash screen which seems to free up some resources. 3. ????? 4. Tiforp Also, get a job you 99% and stop using the computer at the library. Peace out. Iliena
Just a thought. ------------------ snip That is your system, running the game at such a resolution with a single 6850 is to much for it get another 6850 and run them in Crossfire, they are dirt cheap these days and your FPS will improve a lot. (my nephew has very similar spec's to you and his FPS went up a lot in this game with a second card)
