rgolch
As far as i can tell, it just opens up dialogue options and companion missions. But can't you pretty much play the game without givning a hoot about companion affection? I mean, it doesn't affect their combat performance, does it? I've only done one companion mission, and the rewards didn't seem that stellar. Let me know what I'm missing.
prutherford
the more the affection the faster they get crew skills done and there are other parts of the game it is needed for. i dont want to give anything away so i will stop there.
willandy
It affects how well they do on crafting missions and their critical chance with them, also how long the missions take. Higher compassion improves the time and critical chance, as well as the chance that they will even complete the task
Tsavvy
Also increases efficiency and critical chance for crew skill missions.
WolfGangFox
Companion affection also helps with crew skills. The only one that i know for sure is time reduction on missions and crafting. It is rummer that it also helps with critical change but has not been confirmed.
Tharangus
It also affects how quickly they do crafting missions. There's also been some conjecture over whether or not it affects success rate, but I don't have any solid evidence of this myself.
