  1. So basically LordArtimus is saying that bluntness is unappreciated and that we should sugar coat our statements so they sound less harsh. As in he wants us to soften our tone so as not to hurt their feelings. Direct speech, blunt conversation and a firm tone are, often, to much for those who are fragile in ego and emotion to be able to handle... Sorry, I'm a blunt person. I'm direct. I am respectful, but I won't sugar coat my words. If you can't handle that you probably want to go live in your safe space, avoid working in an environment where you have to interact with your boss and co-workers make sure all of your social interactions are with like minded people . I spent 20 years in the Army, deployed to 3 combat zones and was responsible for the lives of dozens of soldiers. The best way to get your point across, the majority of the time, is to be respectfully direct and to the point, blunt without being insulting. I never asked my soldiers to please get down into the prone position to avoid enemy fire, I told them to put their face in the dirt so they don't get their *** shot off. 5.0 stinks, the few good things about this EX-Pack are overshadowed by the bad. There isn't enough positives to make up for the negatives and BW really laid a turd with this one. There is no way to sugarcoat that in order to spare their feelings...
  2. Pay to play meets payt to win. Pay to win EA Style! So wouldn't it be considered pay to get screwed?
  3. So quick question? Who in this thread actually thinks that the GC system and the RNG loot mill is a good idea? Who thinks it is a bad idea? Notice I'm not asking, "why." I just wanna see who likes it and who doesn't.
  4. No, the game is not bad, but what the developers are doing to it and the community is.
  5. I don't think that anyone will attempt another MMORPG. There will be some RPG games that have multiplayer aspects and there will be Multiplayer games that have some RPG elements, but no more true MMORPG's That day is over. Any Multiplayer RPG that launches from here on out would be smart to steer clear of any relationship or comparison to WoW in my opinion. The only way that game will die is if Blizzard kills it. It's approaching 11 years old and still has millions of subscribers. SWTOR won't be one of those games, SWTOR will not last 10 years. I'll be surprised if it is still around when Visceral launches their game. The majority of players that will subscribe to the new game will be the Big time Star Wars fans and those who weren't around this game to experience Galactic Command. There was a Reddit post 2 years ago that talked about the future of SWTOR and another game that was already in production, at the time, that will replace SWTOR. What we are seeing happening in SWTOR follows the outline of that thread, but many of the details are different. The basic road map between what was predicted has come true so far though. We have seen Revan return and have fought him. The Emperor has come back to haunt us and we have fought him. Class stories have pretty much been wrapped up and given "endings" and we have gotten improvements to graphics as well as minor engine enhancements. Companions from the different classes have appeared in stories together and 1 particular class has been set up to potentially be able to "live forever." We fought the Emperor and we visited his homeworlds(s) and (minus the one last story that will the reddit post predicted would bring all of the classes together, sort of) now SWTOR is at a pretty good stopping point. Although it would piss people off to not know what happened to the companions we haven't seen yet (where the hell is Mako? Get Lacey Chabert on the phone and tell her she needs to come voice my favorite companion 1 last time!) where we are in the story is a great place to stop and pick up 50 or 100 years later with a new game. Galactic Command is the perfect maintenance mode system, all they really have to do is make a few tweaks now and then and the game keeps players around for a few more months. Not trying to gloom and doom ya, but with the path this game has gone down with 5.0, SWTOR needs to end soon.
  6. I have to disagree with this, but only on a personal point. I don't want the gear to change, I would have been happy if 224 had stayed the top gear level and if the progression system had actually been a character progression system that allowed a player to allocate skill points into buffs and passive attributes that helped to improve on actual player skill. Have character progression trees that allow a player to align their character to their role as a PvE tank or a PvP Healer, a PvP DPS or a NiM Progression healer. A Progression system should not be about gear, and gear should simply be something that adds a slight augment to your stats. Player skill should be the focus and gear should be, mostly, an afterthought. That is my personal opinion, however SWTOR is a gear focused game and without the "proper" gear you can't accomplish anything. Honestly when a progression team has to regress into SM ops because the Vet Mode Ops are tuned to players wearing 230 purples player skill no longer matters because of the gear requirement.
  7. It is 1 of 3 things. 1. There has been a wild run on SWTOR and thousands of people suddenly feel the need to play the game. 2. BW has lowered the population threshold of each server to indicate Lite, Standard, heavy and Full so as to give the population the idea that more people are playing than actually are. 3. The server is slowly crashing and kicking people off and into que as it goes down. There is always #4 #3 was caused by number #2 and #5 #3 was caused by #1
  8. Agreed. We had 2 years focused on story and now that we are being told that we might be able to look forward to new end game content we find out that the good stuff is tuned for gear that we don't even know if we will be able to earn or not... Player skill has been removed from the equation and replaced with time played multiplied by a randomly generated number to determine if you get a piece of gear you need to continue to be able to progress.
  9. The point is that progression raiders don't want to START ALL OVER AGAIN. They were clearing HM and working on NiM content before 5.0. Ops which they, in some cases, have been playing for 5 years (and are getting really tired of) now with the changes in 5.0 many have to start over in SM ops because the Vet mode ops are tuned to 230 gear. Players who were progressing just fine in HM now have to regress to content that is incredibly easy with no guarantee of ever earning the gear they need to be able to begin progressing again. For those who enjoy progression this isn't just a step backwards (which most can deal with for a short period of time) but it is a step back with out knowing when you will be able to step forward again. It is about being able to progress, not regress. If you were leveling a new toon would you want BW to set all of your characters back to level 1 with every expansion or update? Raiders don't want to start all over with stuff they cleared years ago simply because BW decided that folks were earning gear to quickly...
  10. 100% Agree. A progression system should be about character stats, buffs and improvements. Not gear. Gear will always be sought after, but make it different types of set bonuses that bolster the stats that you are improving in the progression system. The progression system should allow each player to focus on their role as a Tank, healer or DPS. A progression system based entirely on the acquisition of gear and then make those gear drops subject to RNG and add in that you have to gain over 1.2MILLION points to reach max level and still have a chance to never get a full set bonus or even a full set of end game gear? Worst Progression system EVER!
  11. The post by the Op is a perfect example of why these forums need a like button. For those who don't know how to vote for a thread, please post a comment, scroll all teh way to the bottom of the page before you click submit and use the last drop down box to rate this thread. I, loved this post and therefore gave it a 5.
  12. If GC mirrored ESO's Champion System (as in character progression) and the gearing had been adjusted to require particular Command ranks and to make the gear that dropped RNG (but not removed gear drops) between good stated gear bad starter gear and gear with a set bonus then I could agree with you that GC is a good system. However, Inclusiveness is NOT a good reason. There is a such thing as GOOD exclusivity. When something is exclusive because it requires a particular work ethic, set of skills, amount of passion, endurance and dedication to ACHIEVE then that is good exclusivity. Giving people a goal to work toward and a reason to better themselves and improve their skills is always a good thing. Maintaining high standards allows people to create these goals for themselves and to decided if they want to strive to achieve these goals. Lowering the standards so that even the most unskilled, dispassionate and lazy players can, eventually, receive the same reward cheapens the goal and tarnishes the achievement. People are not encouraged to better themselves or to improve their skills with this system, they are only encouraged to get on the treadmill and patiently wait until the RNG King gives them their reward. We all get the same thing regardless of skill and that won't make this game better, it will only drive more people away.
  13. All server population has stayed at "light" since 5.0 dropped. At least when 4.0 dropped a few servers hit standard for a couple days. When 3.0 dropped there were servers that were "standard" and a few hit "Heavy" and with 2.5 and 2.0 most servers were Heavy. We haven't seen a Heavy population server in SWTOR for more than 2 years and I'll be surprised if we ever do.
  14. The problem is that it IS mind numbing and still incredibly easy. Story mode is SOOOOOOOO easy that it sucks. Vet mode requires much higher level gear now, it used to be that you could still play in HM with sub par gear if your personal skill was above average. Not any more. But now the gear is RNG and the green stuff is still subpar for running Vet mode. Uprisings are unimaginative and boring, there was no update to any of the ops and nothing new for PvP. 5.0 didn't improve SWTOR and they damn sure didn't add anything fun, they made it into a grind fest. "But it's an MMO, it's supposed to be grindy!" There are ways to disguise the grind, ways to make it fun or at least appear fun. With 5.0 the grind is in your face and just tossed out there for everyone to see. It's basically BW saying, "here is the new grind, dry hump yourselves to death little maggots."
  15. Cosmetic gear, companion and a mount. Weren't we supposed to get those today? Any Word why not? I've read about the comms to credits being broken etc, but no news about when the DvL rewards are coming in.

  17. About 5 Mon - Thursday, 7 hours on Fridays-Saturday and roughly 10 on Sundays. I'm not very good at math, but I think my estimate is close.
  18. The community has every reason to be angry about this.
  19. I agree with this completely. A LOT of work went into making these achievements and now they have just wiped them out... A very bad move on the part of BW.
  20. I was curious so I checked the math on CXP. 1.23Million CXP = 3,370 points a day would have to be earned each day to gain the required number of Command Points to reach 300. This Rate of gain would take you 1 year to ear CR300. At my current rate of play it will take me approximately 2 and 1/2 years to earn CR300 on 1 toon...
  21. Looking at the calendar I see that BW-A has about 28 studio days, aka working days, until this thing drops. If they can't give a bunch of solid answers to the questions asked then there is reason for concern.
  22. Comms are going away, that was in the live stream. There will be no more comms.
