  1. From this Community Q&A: So, cross-server queuing for PvP is on its way, could be for 1.4.
  2. I'm not that optimistic about that. PvPers do tend to stay with the path of least resistance...
  3. It's not very invisible to me. It's quite solid and there... It's more like a chain-link fence than a wall, though.
  4. The stop-calls for I/O aren't part of the framework, and is what is causing/did cause much of the issues of lag in populated areas. It can be changed/improved without changing much of the engine foundation at all. As far as how much of the framework BioWare actually changed, I cannot say. I do know that they said they made "extensive modifications" to the engine, though how much of that involved the framework I cannot say. But the topic we're speaking of, the possibility of 200v200, has very little to do with the framework, I think.
  5. I don't think either one of us can say for certain how strong the engine framework is. For all we know, the framework could be almost exactly the same between TOR's and the newest iteration of HERO. That would make it a very strong foundation. But, again, neither of us knows.
  6. Well, I was being a little tongue-in-cheek with throwing the "not a true Star Wars fan" back at him. Also, how did "many humans react violently when first encountering my species" translate to "constant crazy reactions...to ascribe to virtually every encounter with a species such as Kel Dor"?? I never said that. There are, however, a lot more "double-take", or violent reactions to Kel Dor than there are with Togruta or Cathar. However, you have a point that Kel Dor or Nautolan don't necessarily need an entire storyline. Lots and lots of new VO with different reactions within the storyline we have, yes, but not necessarily a complete species-specific storyline like wookiee or trandoshan would. Mainly because the culture of Kel Dor or Nautolan is fairly vague and not really intricately described like wookiee and trandoshan culture is. Good point, so I've adjusted my viewpoint.
  7. 100% agreed. And let's take it a step further: Anyone who is okay with non-human playable species without the galaxy appropriately treating them like that species isn't a Star Wars fan, either.
  8. Oh, I wouldn't say that. The warzones in this game are obviously a hit, according to the numbers at the Guild Summit. Far more people who don't normally PvP in other MMOs have tried, and liked, the Warzones. They'd have to deal with the inconsistencies with the current engine, yes. I doubt they'd repeat Ilum in any form. If anything can be said of BioWare's mistakes, it's that they don't usually repeat them. Or realistic. Pick your poison.
  9. Exactly. That's why I said earlier that building the 200v200 capability into the current engine shouldn't be too difficult.
  10. Yes, that is the reason. However, just because something has a reason doesn't mean it's excused. There are a plethora of other ways to provide PvP progression other than gear, and doesn't boost your abilities or cause you to be inferior for any other reason than skill. PvP has always been about a matching of skills. Enter any kind of gear into that equation and you diminish that formula of skill-matching. It becomes GvG, not PvP.
  11. 1. Purchase social gear. 2. Make sure your Social level is high enough to wear it. 3. Transfer mods from PvP gear to Social gear. Set bonuses should transfer over as well (BM and WH are post-1.2, right?)
  12. Great idea! I always lol at the people that complain there is no owpvp, yet Outlaw's Den is barren. Maybe you can wake some people up and we'll start seeing some action!
  13. NPC reactions to Qyzen Fess are self-explanatory. They are treated differently. And remember the Kel Dor Jedi Till'in on Tython? Here's what happened: Do you remember any reactions like that to any near-human species? I don't. Even Plo Koon had reactions like that. For Kel Dor to be playable, all new VO would need to be done at the very least. But even that wouldn't do Kel Dor proper justice. They have a very different, stoic, way of life. And really, here's the thing: My first ever Star Wars MMO character was a Trandoshan in SWG. Loved it. But I'm of the opinion that if SWTOR were to do these more non-human species, I would actually prefer that the galaxy treat me like I'm a trandoshan, or a Kel Dor. It'd feel empty if they didn't. So, I'd rather wait until BioWare can do it right.
  14. The HERO engine can handle 200v200. Thus BioWare needs to fix the engine to be capable of what it could handle in the first place and we'll be set. I wouldn't say "never"...
  15. Then we might as well just stop calling it PvP right now, and call it GvG for MMOs.
  16. I'm not worried. Ever since a year before launch, and after launch, in every post, poll, thread, and consensus on these boards about this, Cathar and Togruta were, by far, them most asked-for near-human species. Plenty of people will make one, showing BioWare that more species are, indeed, wanted. Beyond that, I wouldn't expect the more non-human races, i.e. wookiee, rodian, Kel Dor, or trandoshan, as they would need a complete storyline unto themselves. And never expect playable droids, period...
  17. If only it were that easy. Some classes would benefit much more from that than others. A Sent/Marauder's DPS, for example, would skyrocket, while others would see little benefit. That would knock balance way off kilter. At least, for now, we have one of the most balance class systems than any other MMO.
  18. WOW! Amazing... *stares at the unique one-of-a-kind* I had heard.... but I thought, y'know, that it was just conspiracy theorists going mad! Fairly tales and legends! Exaggerations! Like Bigfoot and the abominable Snowman!
  19. I heard there were one or two people who said the same thing about KotOR, too. I guess you are out there after all!
  20. Yes, but the "secret space project" includes space PvP, so it almost has to be going to be 3D free-flight.
  21. While it's probably safe to maintain that expectation, it'd be hard to imagine a PvP scenario in such a restrictive environment. And BioWare knows that would not work.
  22. Yep, one such example was already linked a few pages back. Also, every time I see your name, I get Duran Duran songs stuck in my head. EDIT - I think I just aged myself...
  23. Almost like playing KotOR, which I've played 12 times. Only it actually is a bit different in this game with a different class. And I've watched the Bourne Trilogy 8 times. I've watched Batman Returns and The Dark Knight 4 times each. I've read The Walking Drum over 20 times. A good story is repeatable no matter what form it's in. And TOR's story is a LOT more repeatable than any other MMO I've ever played.
  24. It's different now. Try a fresh 50 now, or put on your recruit gear now that almost everyone else is in WH.
