  1. The resolution is if you tried to play the game you're screwed? That's pretty lame. I don't expect compensation but like, big yikes
  2. It has been six and a half years in game since the whole Revan arc happened. During which both Lana and Theran left their respective sides and joined the Alliance. People touch on how these two characters acted before the Eternal Empire and my argument would be that we don't really see how that war effect either of them as we were coffee tables at the time. I think it is totally reasonable that neither of them claim any loyalty to the factions they started in. I think the bigger question is, assuming the new war brings the Empire v Republic story back to the forefront and divides the Alliance, where will they end up going.
  3. Eric first and formost I want to say thanks for keeping us informed on what happened. CS is a rough job and you rarely feel appreciated. I will keep checking here to look for an ETA on the patch. But I also want to give a little constructive advice. Most times where you guys have had the playerbase in a tizzy has been because someone said something that probably shouldn't have been announced at the time. Cathar were going to be free now they are cartel market...people got upset. Makeb was going to be a patch and it ended up being a DLC...people got upset. This patch was going to come out today but now it can't be...people got upset. All of these could have been avoided if we hadn't been told greatly in advance that these things were happening at a certain time or a certain way. I hate to sound like I don't like transparency because I do but some things would be better as a surprise. That way if last minute changes had to be made no one would be the wiser. Just my opinion.
  4. It isn't necessary at all. I really cannot figure out their logic behind this. There are two possible reasons they want to do this. One is to make sure that everyone is getting things at the same rate and no one gets "behind." But that is a load and not how MMOs work or should work. If you have more time and more dedication than me to do the content then you deserve more rewards faster. As devs they shouldn't be holding anyone back from gearing up at their own pace. The other idea I had is that they want people to explore other content in the game instead of just doing this one thing over and over. However, that is going to backfire. Some people don't enjoy all the content in the game. Me personally I get frustrated with pvp and hate space. So all I really do is pve content. So with 2.0 instead of staying logged in to do more with my guildies and working towards progressing in content I will just stop logging on when I am capped for the week with comms. Because I can't really progress without better gear and I can't get any more gear because they have capped my comms. If it is a cartel market grab then that is just plain wrong because freepers already have harsh restrictions on pve content. In any case their logic is flawed and I can't see it benefiting them in the least. Someone mentioned that everything in the patch notes is subject to change which is very very true and I hope that this is one of those things.
  5. Personally, anytime someone says "You can't do this thing because I don't like it" then that person should automatically be disregarded. The idea that you should restrict the enjoyment of some for the enjoyment of others has never sat well with me. You always have the option to not take part in something but you should never have the option to take that away from someone else. TLDR; let those who want holidays have holidays and let those who don't ignore them.
  6. WoW was not "different" when it came out. It was a LOT like Everquest. Check your history brah.
  7. How is the threatening? This is why I can't follow the stock market. Every time anything happens it's the end of the world.
  8. Awesome. I don't know why this wasn't done before honestly but it is fantastic to finally have it. Thanks for listening Bioware.
  9. This thread is rather long so let me go ahead and say I didn't read all of it and am posting based off of the first few pages. So forgive me if these things have been stated. The Star Wars Empire has always been of the idea that aliens and women are weaker than human males. First A New Hope onward this idea has been a huge focus on why the Empire was looked at as evil. From a story telling stand point it is important to add reasons why the bad guys are bad other than just because they are. The Empire has always been about oppression. Using fear to rule over your enemies. The good thing about Bioware is they gave us the option on both sides to take part in this or refuse to do so. When I was leveling my Bounty Hunter I had plenty of options to do awful things but I refused to do so. Not because I was offended at the idea but honestly because I wanted to play as lightside. I personally like the challenge in any art medium of seeing something that bothers me or I don't agree with and trying to understand both what it is and why it is being done. I am honestly very glad that Bioware took the chance to step out of the goodie goodie little kids story line that games currently are forced into most the time. Video games are, in my opinion, a form of art. Art, in many ways, is meant to challenge you as the viewer. If the dark side story bothers you to a point where you can't play it then don't but please for the sake of all of us don't presume that it needs to be changed. But to answer your question. In the case of the Star Wars story line...yes it really is just another day in the Empire.
  10. Literally the best response to any topic on these forums. +1
  11. I would encourage you to go ahead and get in a guild. First of all guilds, even the ones full of elitists, are not normally elitist to each other. Secondly, when I started making my alts it was awful because I didn't add them to the guild I was in right away and I missed that community enough to just stop and get back on my 50. Leveling in a guild is more fun and most the time the other members are helpful and encouraging.
  12. I have to agree. It already takes people like me who have been bad at rail fliers since starfox forever to get the comms now I have to grind social as well? Maybe if I had been playing with someone since day one I would be ok with this but I am level 50 and only half way to social 3. Both of the armors I want are rank 3 social and it is taking me forever. I mean honestly pick one. If you want to make us buy it with comms I am ok with that. But if you want us at social rank 3 to get it make it bought with credits please. But now that I am done whining like a girl. YAY I have wanted the imp flight suite since the first time I saw it!
  13. I have always found it stupid to tell someone "go google" or troll them rather than answer a question. Maybe it is just my nature but I enjoy helping people. Most the time if I see a question come up in chat I will whisper the person what I know about the subject and then direct them to more information online through google or torhead. I follow that by saying how sorry I am that the children skipping school today were so rude. The truth is you aren't that important and these newer people aren't really imposing on your time. If we are already ingame it seems stupid to me to tell someone to tab out and look up an answer you already have. That, in all honesty, is how I know who is an adult and who is a child in game. The adult knows how the world works and is willing to assist other players. And before I get some troll responses being an adult in this case has nothing to do with your age. OP I am sorry the Empire is giving you such a hard time. I have a level 50 BH and a level 30 Smuggler on Rubat Crystal and I have never had any problems in general chat on either side. I do understand however that some servers get an influx of children and others are refugee camps for the mature. If you don't mind rerolling I would encourage trying new servers. If you do mind and hiding general chat is working for you then enjoy the game. Also welcome to the world of MMOs....you are stuck now MUHAHAHAHAH
  14. I am sorry but this post and most if not all other posts against this idea are based on conjecture and opinions. YOU believe that social armor is not to be used for combat. WE believe it can be used for whatever we want. If I want to go into pvp dressed as a tusken raider why is that any business of yours? I don't understand the elitist attitude that because you think the social armor should be used one way that we all have to conform to it. I currently wear modded lower level gear because I don't enjoy looking like every other bounty hunter and I personally don't think the armor looks as good as some of the earlier stuff we got. There are some awesome social armors, like the tusken raider and imperial trooper, that I would wear right now if I could. But unless I want to REROOOOOLL that isn't going to happen because I don't spend my time in-game sitting around the cantina chatting with sith. In all honestly the facts are these. Heavy and Medium social gear was in the game in beta. It was removed for unknown reasons we will never learn. It is a bad strategy to remove items that help one class if you don't remove them for all classes. It is also bad to punish a paying customer for choosing to be one thing instead of another. This is Bioware not Bank of America. We shouldn't be punished for playing our way. Basically you are looking at the best solution for all players and saying "nope let's making it complicated." It is just silly.
