  1. Thanks guys. I guess im just having an identity crisis now that everything is substantially different then I remember. I have done some research but its all basically relearning the game from scratch. That being said, I think I may just go Darkness and gear full tank. Back in the day you could go darkness and gear DPS and not be too squishy and had great DPS, Is there any scenario where that is the case currently? I know id be squishy while taking agro and that could be a problem. I tried respeccing into Darkness, using lightning charge and running my rotations similar to how I did in the past and it seemed pretty decent still so I guess im just still unsure which direction to go skill/gear wise. Thoughts?
  2. I know this is an older post but does the same still hold true? I'm a returning player from back before the classes were all switched around and I see that the Darkness spec uses the same skills and rotations I used back when you could do both DPS and Tanking. Im trying out Deception but not really digging its melee playstyle. Im fine re-rolling Darkness as long as its still useful in both PVE and PVP.
  3. Perfectly fine with the PVP aspect, what I did not like was same faction PVP. If it was cross faction it could have been a blast.
  4. They cant take every aspect of a game thats primarily based on grinding and make it easymode for casuals. Im also a casual player as well, but if I dont have/want to put in the time, then I shouldnt get the rewards.
  5. Well thats good to to know, I tried to find that info but wasnt able to. Be nice if it holds true.
  6. The new level cap got me to thinking, are they going to introduce new level 55 crystals to the game? I would think this makes the most sense, however it sucks for me as I currently have the White Hawkeye Crystal (currently going for around 3mil on GTN) and the White Resolve crystal for my tank (750k on GTN). I would think it will kill the value of them and for those trying to sell them and make them basically worthless. What are you thoughts on this or how you think they will handle them? Personally having some sort of Trade-in system for them might be nice since I did already fork out the 2.5 Mil to get the one from the vendor when they were available and I hate the thought of having to purchase another 25 cartel packs to try to get one. (its the only thing ive ever got of value from the packs).
  7. As an inquisitor, I only know of 2 helmets I actually like: The one you get from doing your class quest around the end of chapter 1 (Kaligs mask) and the Tusken raider masks. Unfortunatly I dont wear the former because it hides my hood. If it was like it was in beta where it went under the hood I would still wear it to this day. Both actually feel "Star Warsy" to me. Im kinda "Meh" on the new stuff, at least for Inqs.
  8. An amazingly simple, yet effective way to make it worth while. I was also thinking they could make this section open for duels* since people want that on the fleet as well. Bar fight anyone? *provided it doesnt lag everyone out.
  9. And here you have why Imp PVP cant get its **** together. I played some PVP late on Friday and ran in to what looked like a super Q premade on Voidstar. We were able to get the first door immediately because of assumed bad strategizing right out of the gate, then never was able to even come close to getting the bridge. No big deal until they went on offense and proceeded to just run back and forth as a large group and farm my team rather then just capping the damn door, not to mention the smart *** comments about how it was a good game amongst other comments near the end as well. I just went stealth and camped the door to get my Comm's once I realized this was going on. I dont have any problem being in a Pug and being steamrolled by a premade, it happens but that was just people acting like asses. From what I could tell everyone was pretty much geared out so I dont know what they were accomplishing by farming us other then just being *****.
  10. I was referring to end game obvriously. As for that 5%, ive never seen that difference cause any issues on anything other then LI or HM Ops so on anything else its not that much of a difference.
  11. A piece of advice I did not see here is as a tank (of any class really) be the primary interrupter. Always be the person to interrupt the hardest hitting (or healing) move a boss or other difficult mob will use and designate someone as a secondary in case you miss or interrupt the wrong thing. As a SIN tank, your rotation allows you to throw in interrupts with minimal effect on your normal rotation, plus your healers will love you for life.
  12. They do it because they probably bought the stalker gear and if they are running 31-0-10 they dont really get much of a bonus to running in the other stances and dont lose that much DPS being in Dark Charge. That being said, if a SIN is not the main or off tank in any FP or Op, they shoudlnt be in Dark Charge simply because it pulls way too much threat and makes it harder for the healer as he now has to heal 2 (or even 3) tank type classes so its harder for him to manage resources. Long story short, if not tanking they should be in ANY other stance, regardless of build else it puts too much stress on other party members.
  13. Last time I played was last friday evening, won 3 of 4 before I logged out. I have noticed that the new welfare War Hero gear definetly helps even things a little bit. I was nice being on a pub team where I wasnt the only guy over 17k health.
  14. I guess I dont get the "Darth Maul Kiddies" comment. Are they Darth Maul because of class? Because of the armor they wear? Because they role play and say the 3 lines he had in the movie?
  15. I dont think its a defeated attitude. There are no "Close" games in pubs, its a faceroll either way. The problem is there are Imp players that just dont get it, use no strategy, dont pay attention to the chat and try to DM the hell out of the server. If you have 1 person DM'ing on your team against a decent team, your toast. That 8v7 makes a HUGE difference. Personally I think the Imp pub teams would be TREMENDOUSLY better if we had a voice chat because most simply ignore the chatbox or hide it altogether. I cant communicate with someone and try to help them out if they choose not to pay attention. I think Ron Burgandy said it best when he said: "I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious **** fight." Keeping your head on a swivel is key, that includes paying attention to the damn chat and not trying to 1v4 a node.
  16. I think you need to read my post again. I didnt mention anything about it CHANGING, only that they cant REMOVE it completely for that very reason.
  17. No, it means that now people running full Campaign and other high end PVE gear have the advantage over people who only PVP. Expertise is in there to combat that. You cant just completely remove it without upsetting the balance of the entire game.
  18. I played for about an hour last night and won 2 and lost 2. What time did you queue?
  19. Well this weekend I ended up PVP'ing again with my only guildy that still PVP's and I must say it wasnt as bad as I thought. I did notice some incredibly bad imperial players, in one match in particular we played a pub that had a couple of the LD50 guys and some others, this was my first experience with them and it was on Novare Coast. I stealthed over to the far side, was able to steal back that cap point and basically hold it off by myself. Then the one guy who kept coming over basically gave up and I was left there by myself for probably 60% of the map. Then we had 3 different people who came over to this unchallenged node and just hung out there. At that point I left and went to harass the healers on the node closest to our base. I really only was in combat for about 25% of the map. We lost with them having 100%, but the thing that really drove me crazy was I had 175K damage in the limited time I did have combat and literally out DPS'ed my entire team combined. The next highest person had 75K damage and everyone else was much much lower then that. As a DPS you may not kill anyone especially if they have good healers with them and are geared, but how in the hell can you NOT break 100k damage, regardless of gear or who your going against? That just blew my mind.
  20. Thats part of the problem, I dont even need to gear up as of right now and I still have no desire to log in and PVP. The potential aggravation from incompetent Imp's far outweighs losing in general to well organized teams. A few weeks ago when I started out again in a pub we were playing Civil war, and I did what I do every single match, stealth to the side that is distance wise farthest from the Imp spawn. I asked for 1 person to join me and set out towards the node. After 1v2'ing 2 people by myself, I was finally over ran when the first person I killed came back after respawning and finished me off. If Meanwhile we had east and everyone was literally fighting a stalemate in the middle. If I had ONE guy to help with that node like I asked that match woudl have been entirely different. I was able to ninja it later but got no help and immediately lost it. Once the 3rd wave of attackers swarmed the middle and lost the rest just went east and comm camped the only point we had. Now ive seen that pre and post merge but it still doesnt change the fact that its beyond frustrating when no one pays attention to the chat and further fails to use any common sense. Add to that the frustration of being put on a Imp team that has a premade group part of it as well, you often find that they only worry about what they are saying to each other in vent or TS and also pay no attention to the chat boxes, ive been paired with good Imp premades against good Pub premades and we lost because you couldnt get the premade to help you in certain spots because of that very reason so it goes both ways. That actually happened several times pre-merge but im sure it still happens now as well, I just havent PVP'ed enough to see it.
  21. Im an orginal JC server member and was fully modded out WH about 2 months before the merge. I have ALWAYS ran solo as our guild was all about PVE with the exception of one other player. I was able to easily level up to BM, then WH then more WH to gank out mods. PVP even in pubs was fairly even pre-merge. Yes you would go against a pre-made and you were screwed but sometimes you were paired with a Pre-Made and it balanced out. Gearing in my opinion was not a problem. Now fast forward to now and while its harder to win matches to get more comm's in pubs, the system has been dumbed down so you can obtain them at a faster rate, so that balances out. To me if your ego cant take a beating for a couple of weeks while you level up your gear, then you have bigger problems then faction imbalence. Ive been subbed for about 3 months in a row now, and have rarely logged in. I did start PVP'ing again about a month ago, but literally recognized NO ONE. I didnt find the competetion to be anything too spectacular on either side, after all this is a pretty simple game to PVP in provided you have gear and half a brain and listening skills. What I did notice is many more Pub premades that were geared then Imp's. Often I would log in with my Tankasin and its 20kish HP and would have almost 2-3k hp more then the nearest person, and half the time that person was rocking PVE gear. While I was still able to hold my own, one person cant carry a team in this game thus my W/L ration was roughly 3 to 1. on the losing side. To me the gear gap is an excuse, if enough Imps were to get together and work towards gearing up, learning strats and simply getting better the imbalance would close, but the problem is people have such big ego problems that losing is just too much for them to handle for a while and they basically quit, or re-roll for free facerolls, which is even worse.
  22. Not to mention the first week this is going on theres going to be a TON of people from both factions trying to get in there to get the part. If you cant find a big enough group simply standing outside the entrance then your not trying. Even if there is a group of say 16 gankers, theres going to be many more of the other faction just trying to get the part going in anyways, so I dont see how they will be able to grief where you absolutely cant get it. Also you shouldnt be goin in Outlaws den without a group at any time regardless because its a free for all PVP area so your just as likely to get ganked by your own faction if they are a big enough dick. Group up and profit.
  23. I find it hard to believe that you end game raiders cant gather up a group of 8 or more people to make a run out there. Here's an idea, schedule your next raid a half hour earlier and run out there before running your next OP. Even if there are griefers out there if you bring a big enough group it doesnt matter who is out there and you might just teach someone a lesson.
  24. I havent been subbed in like 2 months but decided to come back. Its good to see some of the familiar faces still running around like DAMAGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! and Blunti and the gang. Good to see more good pub guilds came with the merge, but honestly pubs were still very strong even before the merge so its interesting to see how this all plays out. Since my guild imploded while I was gone, I will likely be pugging it once again, but hopefully I can run into some of you guys in the mean time.
