  1. I came across a new person to the game a few weeks back, already they have managed to get to lvl 55 within 3 weeks of starting from new which is great (all thanks to the 2x xp) however... They are already starting to admit that the end game for them is just not as fun as it was levelling. For me personally the thing that has drawn me back into the game is the whole thing about the story, i really do not enjoy PVE personally i know there are many that do but it got me thinking. Can anything be done to the PVP quests that are available or ways to make the PVP servers more PVP based over the PVE? Things as simple as different quests that people can do around PVP from a random pool, bounty boards something more to really drive some story into PVP. On top of this also improving the space combat or somehow bringing this into the PVP? I know its a very vague idea however for me the PVP servers are really not that much different to the PVE servers other than the ability to gank someone occasionally while they PVE?
  2. just seen a thread below that is very similar! will move my comments to there
  3. Well I have just started back from a 4 month break and decided a new character was necessary so opted to play a Sorc. So far i am enjoying it however i feel i am making big mistakes when it comes to current skills to use (these are limited at the moment due to being lvl 13) and with what skills to aim for in the Lightning tree. I do not really fancy playing a healer at the moment as i prefer DPS and the lightning side seemed to be the most intriguing at this point, in regards to spec what should i be aiming for towards lvl 31 ish? I have opted for this so far http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201Zs.3 but i did little research before starting also any assistance on rotations would be useful while leveling any help appreciated
  4. Just a quick question relating to these missions, i seem to have either been unlucky or just looking in the wrong place but i have only ever had one purple mission drop on me that was pointless by the time i came to use it. Do these generally drop from higher end operations?
  5. Thanks for all the suggestions/help i will get a good chance to start this at the weekend
  6. I think the questions asked above are certainly valuable in getting help however one suggestion would be to make sure you are getting your skill rotation in - read what your skills do and perhaps look at a spec for your class to see what works. For me it took a while to get used to having to use so many different skills (not like wow) however i started to impove when i started to change my key bindings around to get easy access to certain skills.
  7. I found useing the comendations to purchase gear worked fine all the way up to lvl 50 - often green items that drop on kills and are options for rewards off quests. You can see how many you have for the world you are on by going into your inventory and then the currency tab
  8. Ah thanks for this - will certainly be making a start here I managed to get a set of the recruit armour FOC for one of the quests at the PVP terminal - although i am thinking about swapping between 2 specs on my char so i may ultimately get a mixture of gear. After having a quick read it would seem that the daily gear can help here with my modable equipment. Looks like more questing needed - I am also thinking on getting the datacrons for my class when i get some time
  9. Finally I thought! Yes!! level 50.. now what the hell do I do? I have been mainly soloing as when I started friends already had multiple lvl 50 characters on my initial server, I had joined a few groups here and there but nothing major. I had been enjoying the story and sort of got lost in a world of my own forgetting at times that this game was an MMO (unless i was ganked by 3/4 lvl 50's on occasion). Fast forward to a few months back, our server was dead and all my friends lost interest.. Me stuck at lvl 30ish on a dead server with a guild that all of a sudden went from being active with 8+ people to everyone quitting on the same day... I decide to now transfer server Tomb of Freedom Naad - It's actually weird seeing so many people around as my iniital server was quiet before the transfer opportunities arose. I finished my journey to 50/story questing on this server and I am happy to say it paid off. I have picked up a few things on the way such as crafting (max level Biochem erc). My question now is - what the hell to do now? i think i will go to finish the story side for this character (I feel i am close) and I am going to do some solo PVP however i feel that I am missing so much from the game. Unfortunately I only get to go online 5-10 hrs a week at random times so i believe that operations etc are out of the question so PVP seems to be the only real solution but without friends to join it seems that there is now so much avaialble to do at 50 and I am not sure what i can do. At the moment cash flow is very low and my gear is well, just bad.. So from questing i have been trying to get some cash. Any suggestions for the casual player other than the occasional PVP questing/rolling another toon? (I do still see myself as a noob very much so)
  10. I have been using the healer since he has joined it just feels a little wrong not to use any of the others - i find when i use the DPS guy (can never rember the names) i am meditating alot to carry on with quests... Quick question on Tharan - What is the best gear to kit him out with ? i have his primary stats however i am not sure if he should be having crit/power etc? (still sort of a noob when it comes to this game)
  11. a bit gutted here really at the moment (not because of the downtime) but every time i have had the time to play one of 2 things has happened: Laptop failure Patching for over 8 hours.. I think i have now missed out on over 32 hours of gaming because of these issues at the moment (more so for the laptop failure..) Just wish the wife would let me on more often and it would not be so much an issue haha
  12. Found this quite useful to read also, thanks for the advice (another newb)
  13. Just stubled across this subject, i have just started to play SWTOR my first MMO for 4 or so years and i opted to play a Shadow (normally played caster DPS). I must say that as i was never a hardcore MMO player always played casually i am having to learn a new style of play for a DPS and am slowly getting there. Using sa (Mind maze) is something that i have come to find is really handy and with all the other CC abilities i have at 23 it is certainly becomming more difficult to remember where i have mapped all my skills. I think finding the perfect key bindings is going to be key moving forward and learning what abilities should be used and when. I am thinking a naga hex mouse is going to be required for me soon All suggestions so far seem to be what i have followed, i am finding the tank mob to be very handy at the moment although i do not have the healer one yet..
