  1. Not for as long as it's possible to almost fully disarm a bomb before stealth drops due to the lag.

    balance in PVP

Step 1: Level to 50 Step 2: Queue for WZ Step 3: ...... Step 4: Profit!
  3. Using your logic. Pushing enemies into the fire to do damage should NOT be allowed. That's what your dmg abilities are for. Force leaping from platform to platform should not be allowed, that's what your movement keys are for. Healing a ball carrier should not be allowed when the other team doesn't have a healer. Why should you get such an OP advantage? And so on.
  4. Check how much Valor you get per level, then look how much you need per rank after 50. Now rethink your statement.
  5. The medal system in its current format is flawed. They should remove the medals that encourage bad play and replace them with medals for achieving objectives. Assist a ball carrier to the line? Have a medal. It's hardly rocket science. On a related note - any chance you can turn Ilum into a PvP planet rather than a carebear 'why don't we all get along' cuddlefest?
  6. I've had this 'exploit' happen to me twice now, and I can tell you that it's more of an annoyance than anything else. Once the other team realises what's happened you're effectively a player down. Incidentally, it isn't something I can recreate at will, but the two occurrences were due to being hit by knockback/stun/some form of CC while flying on the air vents.

Nice heals mate. When can we expect your strategy guide?
  8. It's already an easy, button-mashing arcade fest. Ah, so you're setting yourself above the 'unwashed masses'. Gotcha. As this is already the case, I fail to see your point. Now you're just being silly. Regardless of dual spec, people will still look for pugs to tank and heal. Yet this is irrelevant. If I choose to spend my time online with a particular group of people (say a guild), working together for mutual gain, that is my choice. Who do you think you are to condemn my chosen social practices? Randomly pugging with thousands of people waters down communities. Having an option to quickly change your spec does not. You seem to have missed the all-important 'in my opinion' here. Speaking as a long-time priest, I believe that Dual Spec is one of the best things that happened to WoW. So you're living in WoW's past, dreaming of an imaginary perfect MMO that doesn't, and never did exist. Glad we've cleared that up then.
  9. "Your opinion means nothing" is about as personal as it can get on an internet forum. By responding in such a manner, you've not only got involved, you've escalated. Take a step back from that soapbox for just a moment and try to accept that (GASP!) you might actually be... wrong on the subject of dual spec et al. As for your dubious moral stance on getting personal, you're condemned by your own mout... erm hands.
  10. That's an issue with individual players, not with 'healers', and is fundamentally unrelated to dual spec. Except you clearly can't understand the 'healer thing', or you wouldn't summarise it so dismissively.
  11. How ironic. He made an observation based on your statements, whereas you've condemned him sweepingly based on a single sentence. Is your position truly so weak that you must resort to undermining the character of your opposition?
  12. Not sure I read that anywhere in his post. Try again please, only this time sticking to the actual subject matter and within the confounds of actual arguments put forward by others. How about you play your character the way you choose, and everyone else can do the same? I'm tired of these "entitled" (that's right, we're reclaiming your hate word) whiners who believe that everyone should have to play their vision of a game in which they have zero developmental control. That so many of you are falling back on 'it's all about meaningful choices' as your main argument is something I find deeply ironic. Ironic too are those who suggest you replay an entire class storyline, just to have an additional play option. Sure, let's dilute the 'ZOMG SO AWESOME' storyline that you're all putting so much stock in, just to achieve something that's a: already possible with a respec and b: getting implemented anyway. These threads, however, continue to amuse. Please continue the hatetrain.
  13. Also, considering the inflexibility of his viewpoint, if the healer you spend 30 minutes looking for decides to quit your FP halfway through, it's probably not because he's a "noob healer". But I suspect this may fall upon deaf ears (blind eyes? idk).
  14. Damage meters are a tool, nothing more. Whether they are used for good or evil is another matter entirely.
  15. Some wonderful points made here, with excellent arguments to back them up. Your contributions to this discussion are both awe-inspiring and inspirational.
  16. It's rather sad that the majority of posts against cheap respecs/dual specs come from a section of the 'community' whose entire argument consists of insulting anyone whose opinion differs from their own. I hope this isn't indicative of the kind of people who'll be playing TOR long-term. And to the poor soul above me: Even BW would admit that WoW is the the yardstick when it comes to MMO's. 'Borrowing' the features that WoW got right is sound business sense. But I'm sure they'll leave out dual-spec after reading all about your disdain for people who (THE HORROR!) played and enjoyed a game that doesn't make you foam at the mouth.
  17. By learning their character in and out, do you mean 'how to press the 3 or 4 buttons that heal me'? This is an argument against grouping with bad players, not against cheap respecs or DS. A warrior who had threat management issues in WoW because of a priest doing more than just spamming flash heal was a bad warrior indeed. But I digress. You come across as just a little bit clueless about what makes a good healer. The most important trait in a healer is that they enjoy playing. With exorbitant respec costs, this trait can very quickly vanish from the list of a healer's merits. Anyhoo, hasn't DS already been confirmed?
  18. Assassins can tank. You, sir, clearly cannot. /thread
  19. I've been reading your posts with some interest, trying to figure out the nagging sense that you were somehow missing the point. This last paragraph has enlightened me. We'll get back to that in a moment, but first of all I'd like to address your issue with class design. Skill (or talent) trees exist as a means to customise your character within the confines of its role/s, whether that be a tank, a healer, dps, CC, hybrid or whatever you wish. Well designed trees promote diversity within a specific class, which is absolutely essential. A world where every sorcerer plays exactly the same because there's only 'one' choice is a diluted and dull one. And thus, the ability to respec exists, and has existed for some time now, in both MMO's and RPG's. A mechanic which is present in TOR. I'll re-quote this: There's the confusion. What you're referring to is 'respec', not dual spec. Because DS is simply a one-shot payment for the luxury of not having to grind cash to achieve something that you can already do. Are you saying you want respecs removed completely? You already stated that you've experienced the pleasures of playing a holy priest in wow. I too played a priest, and nothing was more welcome than the inclusion of the dual spec that allowed me to pick a secondary build that I could both PVP and solo PVE content with, without the need for continuous gold-farming (on top of farming for flasks and pots etc). To address another common retort abundant in this thread, it didn't matter that I had multiple alts who could all fulfil that second spec as well, or even better than my priest. I consider all of my characters to have equal value as 'joint-mains', and I love having multiple options when it comes to end-game content. If I want to jump into PVP with my healer then I should be able to do so without the need for hours of pointless grinding. Is this a game or a job?
  20. Let's be fair - min-maxing has been going on a lot longer than tabletop gaming. There will always be strategists, theorists and practitioners of min-maxing because our race is hardwired to find the most efficient route. It's part of the reason we're so advanced. In my opinion, this is where your position falls down - as does that of others who are against it. Whilst dual-spec *could* be considered an aid to min-maxing, that is not it's most pertinent feature. It simply removes the need to grind excessively to compete with 'specialists' who choose to only play one aspect of the game. You won't remove the min-maxers by removal of DS, ergo the players you're complaining about will still abound. I suspect you are in the minority, although I think that it's more a specialised viewpoint you have on a subset of the gaming community. And yes, it probably is better business sense to favour DS. That they will, and DS does not cater to it. The hardcore raiders will still demand a specific spec without DS. The hardcore PvPers will still find the best utility spec without DS. The majority of players will use it as a useful tool to save grinding, and that is something we should all be in favour of.
  21. I'm running around shooting lightning from my fingertips, while my fat blue alien friend is hovering in the air and scorching giant lizardmen with his wrist-mounted flamethrower. I have to spend money in order to become more skilled with the force, rather than, for example, meditating. This, and many many more examples of why 'lack of realism' is no grounds for adding/removing a feature or mechanic.
  22. It's called the legacy system. You can have either a surname or a title. You share this title with your other characters on the same server. There are legacy experience levels. Etc.
