  1. Nonsense, unless you are under-level for the missions. I had no problems with my scoundrel, but I did arrive after fully completing Taris and so Nar Shadaar quests were green for me pretty much right up until I was ready to leave. In fact I seem to remember the only thing that was orange rated for me were the bonus series! So I left for Tatooine and did all of those quests, and then came back for the Nar Shadaar bonus which was still orange.
  2. Just wanted to give a vote for this. You will be well into your 20's if you complete Taris including the bonus series.
  3. That's what I've heard too ... and the cap is 10,000 points. So you'll keep those LS points until you reach 10,000 DS ... and then your DS decisions will start eating away those LS points.
  4. Except for the original servers that were filled with pre-release guilds, and filled with a smaller number of large guilds rather than lots of small guilds. Hydian Way, for example, on the republic side had a 200+ republic guild, some 100+ guilds and a number of 100+ empire guilds. Obviously I can't say that the balance remained after allocation, but those servers are much more likely to maintain a balance as most of the newer ones are Empire heavy. If anything after allocation this server was republic heavy, but with the trend for new players to play empire that has probably balanced out.
  5. I think, in some ways, social levels are viewed as PvE grouping rewards and valour levels are PvP rewards. So two sets of metrics for players who might only play one kind of game and still feel they're progressing. What you're wanting though is your PvE grouping metric to increase just because you're PvPing with friends. What you really need then is a social valour metric
  6. (1) Make them yourself (but I'm guessing you don't have the right crew skills otherwise you'd be doing that already) (2) Buy them from the GTN with the cash you are making in warzones
  7. Sure thing. Sorry I didn't find that post before starting my own.
  8. /signed This is handled well when you are in cut-scenes: the results will either only appear after cut-scene or sit up on the 'pending' button waiting for your action. There are a couple of places though where the results get in the way of things you are doing: When selling on the GTN If you've got your inventory and GTN screen open then the crew-mission results will close your inventory and popup the results page. Annoying when you are in the middle of trying to list items for sale When organising your cargo hold You've got your inventory and cargo hold open and are moving things between them. When crew-mission ends then results page will close one of those screens you are working on. When equipping yourself/companion You've got the character panel and inventory open, moving things around and the crew results come in closing one of the windows you're working on. I know this is a personal one, and some people probably don't mind, but I don't want crew-mission results to come up while I am in the middle of PvP warzones. They get in the way and I have to spend a second moving the mouse to accept them ... invariably they arrive at the worst possible moment Oh, and you can't accept the rewards if you've just died (because you had to deal with the window rather than the enemy kicking your arse). I'm sure there are other situations I've forgotten about, but generally speaking if I have UI elements open such as inventory, GTN, cargo hold, character sheet then I don't appreciate the game closing them for me to show mission results. I'd much rather receive the message in chat, the audio clue from the companion saying it went well/badly and the 'pending' button appearing unobtrusively at top of the screen. If I don't have UI open then sure, hit me with the full results page.

  10. Hydian Way has a good sized republic population online during EU prime time.
  11. Yes, same problem as OP and the answer has been given in this thread before others came in with answers to completely different problems! Right-Clicking an enemy will perform the attack in quick slot 1 If you've moved your 'basic' attack out of quick slot 1 then whatever you place in quick slot 1 will trigger whenever you right click If you want your basic attack to fire with right-click then open up your abilities panel ('p') and drag your basic attack into quick slot 1

    Guilds

It's not essential, no. Some servers have a low population though, and finding other players at the right time on those can be troublesome. Some servers though have a decent enough population that there seem to be enough players of every level available for flashpoints.
  13. I think the codex (accessible from missions log screen) has a section that lists the game tips that appear.
  14. There are commendation vendors on the fleet, one for every planet and also PvP vendors. You can use your planet commendations to get better mods or better gear. Stop spending your money apart from essential things like repairing. On gathering missions, look at the top of the dialogue for a drop-down that gives a level range. To find the lost artefact fragments you'll need to do a lower level gathering mission. You won't get XP for the lower level ones but there should be one that gives the reward you're looking for. Spend some of your commendations to get better gear. Do some warzones. Yes you'll die but you'll also make money. Or do space missions to get money. Because you've been spending money like it's going out of fashion you'll have to spend a bit of time grinding I imagine to get yourself some funds.
  15. See the 'My Account' button at the top of the screen? Click it to find all sorts of settings
  16. I guess like all things on the internet 'your mileage may vary'. I'm glad you don't get any lag at all, but I do. My latency is usually <100 but quite often in a play session it will go to 300, sometimes 500 and also sometimes 1000> These kinds of latency are never normally fatal and normal service resumes. BUT that kind of latency does not play well with precision jumping games! Nor do the controls/animation. So yeah, my answer to why jumping puzzles shouldn't be in an MMO is because they are played by people across the world under a wide variety of network connections: some have big phat pipes right to a datacentre, others are connecting from villages in the middle of nowhere or using satellite uplinks on a cloudy day. The rest of the game play of an MMO is built around these facts, and caters to gameplay that isn't split second time sensitive. Well, usually it is anyway! SWTOR also does away with auto-attack, which is another way of dealing with varying connection latency. Oh well Double whammy from SWTOR on those with not-perfect connections.
  17. And some people were pointing out, that you can't tell whether a server has a higher light side or dark side POPULATION, because whether a player is light side or dark has nothing to do with faction and isn't something you can tell. I know you were actually trying to ask about faction population and not LS/DS population, which is why post #2 here answers in that vein ... and why I tried to deflect away from the fact that even when you tried to clarify you still used LS/DS terminology rather than just Imperials or Republic. What about smugglers and bounty hunters? I take it you're not interested in playing them? So are they always light side or dark side? The point is the game is about two factions, not two alignments to the force. Some people were getting confused by your use of LS/DS, not me because I could see through that, and answered accordingly. Maybe in the movies, yes. In the games (and in this game in fact) the whole good/bad is never that clear - thankfully. Is the republic ambassador who is willing to open the airlocks and kill the engineers on the Esseles acting according to the light side of the force? Is a trooper who recovers medicine, stolen from army supplies, and returns it back to the army acting according to the dark-side? They answered according to your very first post, which asked which server had a high population of light side. Not their fault really that your terminology was wrong and you meant something else. Anyway, once again - hopefully this post will help newcomers to this thread understand what the actual question is, and not give their answers based on the subject line or first post.
  18. Then you missed my very first comment, the second one in this thread, which also gave the name of a server - as requested. I even gave you the time zone it was in
  19. How much more information do you need than /gquit! lolz
  20. There is nothing to fix - you're just not understanding what the concept of 'group phase' means. 'Story phase' are your quest phases/instances and no-one else in your party can enter them, unless you make those changes in your preferences. 'group phases' are phases/instances that your whole party can enter ... that is all. It doesn't mean you need a party to enter them, or even that any quests within those instances HAVE to be done as a party ... just that if you are in a party then everyone can access that instance. That is all. Back to the OP: at the end of beta when I did that mission I tried to solo and died 2 or 3 times, getting closer each time to take down the last npc. After that 3rd time I noticed someone else who was appearing outside the phase/instance entrance too, so asked him if he was on same mission and getting killed. He was, we grouped, we did it easily. After launch when I got to that mission I tried solo again, and it was a tough fight but the full use of my abilities was crucial to surviving. You can't just tank-and-spank, you need to interrupt and do whatever else you have to turn the tide. Or just gain a level or two and come back. It is by no means an essential 2+ mission, unlike the Heriocs.
  21. Try Hydian Way. Or look at server list for servers above 'light' load, at the times you want to play.
  22. You are absolutely right, but the OP did previously post that he could have worded it better (and then went and made the same mistake ) I think we all know now he is talking about imp/rep server pops, so let's keep it at that.
  23. Hydian Way has a pretty good republic population, if you're playing during EU hours.
  24. I know someone pointed this out already, but it is really important! Your problem is that you have too many quests in your quest-log and so can't accept any more. You should abandon some if they've turned grey (or you have no plans on going back to that area), or just make an effort to complete some quests. There is no requirement, beyond class quests, for having to do certain mission.
