  1. Yea lol, I agree. I found a parser to use. I come from an elitist guild in wow , we used to raid hardcore and was always in contention for world first clears. I understand where people come from, because Iv seen people called out for not doing dps when they was clearly doing well in other areas. But I am going to be honest, the guild I was in, even though we might have been server first and hardcore. We never treated anyone badly, we understood that DPS meters is just a tool, and in the end, its a great way to have fun and do checks for gear. I'v seen people come in with great gear and pull 50% of the dps they was capable of and then on top of that, stand in crap and die, not cc, etc.. You have to take the dps meters at face value, they are a tool, nothing more. They can be misunderstood and used to blame people for a groups shortcomings, but I would never use like that. I just enjoy knowing my own dps, and work on rotations to maximize my class. I have always been and will always be a Min/Maxer and very competitive, I enjoy playing every class the best possible way I can. Its why I play.
  2. Just curious, Im back after 9 months off from playing, looking forward to having some fun solo'ing and what not. Is there anyway to monitor dps yet? I know before there was no way, and it kinda bummed me out. Dps charts I know are not that important at times, but they are very fun to me though.
  3. Thanks man , appreciate the info. I remember switching to watchman from combat way back when, loved them both, but watchman was better I thought. Is there any way to monitor dps now?
  4. Hi, I played all through beta and leveled to 50 with my sentinel after first month game came out, then I took off for personal reasons and then never came back. I am itching to get back and play some now but after logging in and looking at all the changes I am little confused. Can anyone tell me how the current state of the Class is? How are the three talent trees now? Are they more viable now, less, any suggestions, info would be greatly appreciated. Popular builds, trends, whatever I just like to know whats going on, anything to help me catch up. Thanks in advance.
  5. I used combat to 30 and watchman to 50. I have used both at 50 for massive amounts of time both pvping and pve. I have to say for me that watchman is just better. I find myself surviving longer and killing stuff faster. Utility like improved force camo and zero range force leap are also great. The elemental damage is extremely high and I just found myself doing much better. I think both are great though, I just give a slight edge to watchman, just my opinion.
  6. All things equal, gear, skill, etc... Then I would say yes, for sure. If played correctly and well you will see Sentinels dominating everyone in pvp. I have huge success with my Sentinel, I get allot of people sending me tells asking me what my spec is and how I score so high allot. I think it surprises some Sentinels.
  7. Sentinels are fine. I one shot Angral and although I felt it was challenging, it was not hard. I had friend in guild playing Sentinel after seeing how much success I am having and he was struggling badly on Angral. I told him I would help him out and he said his gear was fine. I took a look and his hilts was level 24 and Kira's gear was all less then level 20 mods/armoring and hilts. So I hooked him up with 2 blue hilts and some blue mods and armoring from commendations and he was able to go through and one shot Angral at level 31. I did it easily at level 30. It only gets better from there, through the 30's I solo'd heroics and champions and take out multiple elites withouth ever slowing down to rest.
  8. I would not admit that you have friends who are not very good who blow you away in dps. Whats they say for you? I have friends who are super good and I out damage them with my sentinel. I consistently dominate with my Sentinel, and I have high level alt's so I know how good all the classes can be. Sentinels can easily hang with any other class, easily and well.
  9. I look at it this way. There are a few abilities that I would use first but after that if it is up I use it and if I have only 3 focus then I will use riposte and a strike to generate some more focus. This way you get damage from strike and riposte for only 1 focus cost, all rolled up together in the same global cooldown. Yea its nice.
  10. Sorry you feel that way. Even though you may think this, i would totally disagree. I have a level 50 Sentinel, level 50 Gunslinger and level 44 Commando and Level 41 Shadow. I have to say my sentinel is still my best class. Can non stop chain pull mobs, solo heroics and never had any problems leveling. I never had problems with any of my classes, but specially not with my Sentinel. I do extremely well every match in pvp and I do just as much damage as my gunslinger with the same gear, only difference is as a Sentinel, I can chain pull groups of mobs without every having to slow down. Sorry you are having problems but it is definitely you that needs fixing, ... not the class.
  11. Ok, good. Its just frustrating having to press an ability 3-4 times and still not have it fire off. Glad they are aware, this should be fixed soon, its kind of a big deal.
  12. I have been dealing with this issue for months now. I know you are probably aware of it, and I see you addressed the issue with abilities being delayed, but what about abilities not working? I have this issue as well as several guildmates. I will force leap in and press say Zen and it want work, or rebuke, or any random ability. It will not work until I use another ability first. Sometimes I try using the ability 2-3 times before I realize its not working and have to use another ability, wasting 2-3 global cooldowns. Its very frustrating and happens almost every single pull. I have put in tickets about it before as well as guildmates, I was just hoping you guys are working on a solution.
  13. Im thinking of trying a G13 because it looks nice and has more keys then n52te. I currently have been using a N52te and have to say at first I hated it. It took me while to learn to use the thumbpad to move instead of wasd keys and I bound the finger keys to 1-12 and this allowed me to have about 50 buttons mapped right to my finger tips, without ever having to move my hand an inch. Now I can't imagine using a keyboard again. I love my n52te so much, it has made me a better player too. You can set keys up to turbo and you can make macros. For instance on my sentinel I bind the force leap button with my overload saber and they both fire at the same time when I press it. You can do allot of really cool stuff with them. Hope this helps, feel free to PM me for more detailed setups.
  14. Sounds like you know what you like and thats good. I was just giving Dominion my opinion which he asked for. I personally had a much easier time leveling as watchman then Combat. Having zero range force leap among other things just makes it so much easier to level in my opinion. Not that combat is any harder, no Sentinel should be struggling at all leveling.
  15. If your combat and you hit 40 it gets better yes. The question you should be asking is it as good as watchman? I would say a big fat NO! I was combat to 30, ran watchman to like 42 and then tried combat and was amazed how much worse it was then watchman. Where I was able to easily solo heroics and take out 2-3 elites at once without dieing, I was struggling as combat and dieing vs the same mobs. I think combat might get better at 40 , but I still think it needs some buffing to be as good as watchman is.
  16. I agree, I had no problems at all leveling my Sentinel, or soloing any quest class. I even solo'd every heroic 2 and some heroic 4's. Hard...? Yes, the heroic 4's was hard, but everything else was easy and fun.
  17. Played WoW for 7 years, this game is so much better in almost every way. Considering how horrible WoW was at launch and all the problems they had, this game blows WoW out of the water. Only people who disagree are WoW Fanboys.
  18. Gear makes a huge difference. In beta I did ok but after playing beta for 5 months I learned allot. So when the Game went live I leveled a few toons to 25 before I really started working on my Sentinel, which was my main. I had a Commando and Shadow to 25 also. The reason I did this was so I could log in and out while playing, setting my alts to crafting missions. I took Cybertech and Artifice and Biochem. This allowed me to always have blue quality mods/armoring/ehancements on my Sentinel every other level and I kept epic hilts on my Character every 2-3 levels also. Also allowed me to make an incredible amount of credits selling stuff on auction house, but that is besides the point. Having full blue mods and epic hilts for my character and my companion made the leveling so easy. I was able to easily solo heroics, and at times once I got Doc, solo some heroic 4+. You can not underestimate how awesome it was to have a full set of mods and hilts to level with. I don't believe it is needed at all, because iv done it before without the gear, and my situation may be an extreme but I can vouch how much gear really does help. You really should never be in quest greens at all. If you cant afford to buy mods/hilts off the auction house, then you should be able to buy them with commendations easily enough. I hope this helps, good luck.
  19. What level are you? It is best to stick with one tree until you unlock your main ability at 40, or at least I feel it is best. Others might disagree, but I feel the higher talents are better then the lower tier talents in other trees. That being said from 1-30 I feel any of the three specs are viable, but after 30 I think watchman pulls ahead in both survivability and DPS. Knowing what talents to take is quite simple if you just read every talent in the tree. There is no cookie cutter build but you should know what you want to take by reading it. There are a few talents you will always take and there are a few talents that are gonna be better for PVP and some better for PVE, so just take some time and read all your talents to better understand your class. Good Luck and have fun, the Sentinel is a very powerful class right now and has a great time leveling, Very very fun.
  20. There are many benefits to crafting. Each profession has unique items that bind on pickup, meaning that unless you max it to 400 you can't have access to these. Biochem has Re-usable Adrenals and medpacs that grant nice big gains of stats like surge/crit/force and tech power. Also are able to make things like epic relics that are only available through artifice. And the ability to make blue and epic mods while you level, since you can just keep replacing your mods as you level.
  21. I would not use slash anymore. Slash may do slightly more damage , but I doubt it when you consider the automatic Artaru proc from Blade Rush. Im not to familiar with it though. I switched back to combat at 41 to try it out and it was so far behind watchman I just switched back to watchman. But I'd assume with the auto Artaru proc that Blade rush is more damage always.
  22. I just tried it but still having the same issues with abilities failing, specially the ones off global and ones that requires zero focus, like Zen and Rebuke. Zealot Strike also keeps failing and have to push it 2-3 times to fire off. I was so excited when I read this, but alas It did not fix it for me.
  23. Good info. I know some people struggle with this. I love how they made the class quests so challenging. I had some issues with some of the pulls because I got into a hurry, but I one shot Angral myself doing similar to what you did. Maybe others that are struggling can take your advice. Remember bioware intended these class quests to challenge you as a Sentinel or Guardian, and if you are struggling then you are doing something wrong.
  24. I don't think we are underpowered at all. I think bioware could do a few things to make the class a bit simpler perhaps because of so many people struggling to play this class well. That being said, I think combat tree could use a little buff because it is a little behind watchman.
  25. Is t7 really that good? I honestly never used him. I used Kira and soon as I got her , I bought her the social gear, full set and kept her modded with high quality mods and epic hilts. I just found it very easy to keep her geared. But id love to hear what you think about t7, maybe how you keep him geared, some gearing tips and how you use him. I found early from 1-10 that T7 kept annoying me by taunting and making the enemies run towards him, found myself constantly chasing after kills lol.
