  1. Rift is not a grind at all. Leveling PvE 1-50 is smooth and very fun. PvP ranks 1-4 are fairly easy to attain, 5-8 will take some work. Give it a try, the soul trees alone will keep you intrigued for quite some time. To the poster that said Rift requires cookie cutter builds? Are we playing the same Rift? Maybe the people you were playing with required these cookie cutter builds but I assure you this is far from the case. Nearly all roles are viable at end game unless you're one of the min-max types.
  2. How is that any different than buying a console game, which gives you about 50-80 hrs of play time, cost's around $60, and you sell it a month later for a new game? Ridicule people without thinking much on way to your overzealous defense of your game? Not defending the OP, or his supporters, just pointing out the defenders are getting just as silly.
  3. So go ahead and repeatedly bump these posts you all despise so much and are so sick of... Yeah, make total sense.
  4. If you don't care, why bother to respond?
  5. Wow, guess I don't have to finish my consular story line now... Thanks...
  6. No one is forcing anything, it's called a level playing field. It's in the best interest of the developer to keep it as level as possible. OP, I couldn't agree more. I've seen more games than I care go down the add on path and inevitably ruin by said add ons.
  7. This^ All throughout beta it was one of, if not the biggest complaint. Testers were hoping it was just a bare bones version of the creator so they could focus on testing but alas, what we saw is what we got and I agree with the OP that the male body types are pitiful. The female ones are just as bad although the female 4 body type(besides her top half) is about as close to normal as we're gonna get I think.
  8. Because you don't need these "tools" to play this easy of a game? How can you not manage threat without a meter? Is the boss attacking you the tank? You're managing threat. Turn the boss around so his back is to your group. If he faces your group, your tank needs to step it up. Is the boss dead? Then you and your companions are doing sufficient DPS, no meter needed. No need ruin the game so the spreadsheet players can squeek .01 more DPS out of their spec. As a group leader, if you cannot tell someone is not carrying their weight, get better at being a group leader. It's not hard to figure out. People have just gotten used to having crutches. Are you companions dead? Then your healer is doing a good job. I'm not saying the UI doesn't need help, but add-ons ruin games IMO and I've seen it happen many times. WoW and AC1 come to mind.
  9. A good amount of the threads are not simple whining and actually have valid points to them. They may not be presented in the best fashion, but that makes them no less valid. Making such a broad generalizing statement like that makes you no better than the ones you protest against. And OP...irony much?
  10. I have to say that most, if not all of those bugs were reported by me in beta multiple times as well as by others I know. I don't have a problem with bugs in a newly released MMO, but some of those border on ridiculous. At a minimum, they confirm what we've all surmised for some time now and that is Bioware was pressured to push this thing gold too early. Well presented OP and others. Hopefully Bioware will see these or is already working on a remedy.
  11. Are you seriously comparing this UI to one from a game released in 1999? AC's UI was pretty standard fare back then so there really is no comparison. SWTOR on the other hand has many things to gauge it's UI utility against yet still decided to go with the most spartan of UI's. There really is no excuse for the UI in this game IMO.
  12. I couldn't agree more with the OP. I see more people running around Asheron's Call (which has what? 500 subscribers) than I do running around SWTOR. The instancing absolutely kills the MM part of the MMO experience. Most of the time I really feel like I'm playing a single player game with a chat window in the upper left. Bioware really needs to do something to remedy this IMO because it's going to hurt them more than help them in the long run.
  13. Yeah because having a confirmation box when using a specialty vendor, using special currency is going to ruin the game for you right? People are so blinded by their WoW hatred they argue against things that actually make sense. But because it's in WoW they don't want it here in their beloved SW game because they feel it will taint their game somehow...
  14. To all the complainers complaining about the complainers... Great post...no really...
  15. I swear some of you really need to play MMO's/Forum PvP less and take reading comprehension classes. The OP doesn't want a confirmation box for every purchase, but for purchases from the specialty vendor when using commendation tokens. If not a confirmation box, then the vendor at least needs to pay back in commendation tokens in the same session if something unintentional is purchased. This, at least for me, is not about hand holding, or not paying attention. I was simply ctrl-right clicking on an item in the specialty vendor window to see the mods it had when, boom...I bought it. I sell it back to the vendor thinking I'll get my commendations back, but no just credits. So to an extent I agree with what the OP is asking although I'm not in much agreement with his approach.
  16. There is an "are you sure" pop up that you have to manually type "delete" in to before the character is deleted. How you can "accidentally" do that is inconceivable to me.
  17. Umm correct except I didn't say it was? They are coming down during US peak hours which is virtually unheard of and usually these types of things do take place during EU OR Oceanic prime times. So the US/North America market gets a taste of what EU and Oceanic players have to endure all the time. Reading comprehension FTW!
  18. Look at it this way, you get to know what it feels like to be in the EU or Oceanic crowd because maint. is almost always done during their peak hours. They deal with it all the time, the US has to deal with it for one day.
  19. Lol, don't feel badly for me. I know to double check before typing "delete" into a confirmation box to avoid "accidentally" deleting a character. The extra step is there for the exact reason of avoiding accidental deletions. How you can work past that and still "accidentally" delete a character is inconceivable to me. Sorry if you think that is rude.
  20. Rift is far from dying. Second, they offered free shard transfers shortly after launch. I want to say 2 months max. Lastly, unless you work for EA, you're talking out your hind quarter about fee's. No one knows, probably even EA, how they're going to handle transfers.
  21. You don't know that, no one does. Rift offered free shard transfers and I've played other MMO's that offered your first shard transfer for free. *shrug*
  22. Why not start on another shard without a queue and see if they offer shard transfers down the road rather than going to extremes?
  23. Umm...This. How do you accidentally type delete into a confirmation box? I'm starting to realize why things like electric hair dryers have warnings on them not to use them in water...
  24. Waves are more frustrating to me. At least with a queue, I know when I'll be able to get in and play. I also work during the day so I'd be able to play overnight when the shards mostly show light.
