  1. This. Just 5 months this game has lost nearly 50% of it's initial playerbase. Of course it's normal to see a large flux of people on a launched game.. but roughly 25% of those players left in the last 2 months, that's staggering. Obviously people were waiting it out to see if things got better, they saw patch 1.2 was a bunch of garbage and left. Seriously all the time Bioware spent "working" and what they gave people was a sorry excuse for a sub system that the legacy thing is and a couple extra bosses in a preexisting raid. even the UI improvements were too little too late. Basic truth of this game is that Bioware and ultimately EA doesn't know it's *****hole from a hole in the ground when it comes to MMOs. Because if they did, they wouldn't have released yet ANOTHER EQ/WoW clone in a market that has proven time and time again "Make a EQ/WoW-Clone, you will fail" These idiot developers seem to think that WoW is such a smashing success because of some kind of formula in how the game was designed. There isn't anything special about the design of WoW, it's the same as many MMOs before it. Games who push the envelope and do something new but also don't half-*** it are the games that will be successful in the future. This also goes for Elder Scrolls, if they are making yet another EQ/WoW Clone like this, like Rift, like Aion, ect.. they will fail too and all of the idiot Bethesda fantards will sit on their forums doing the same thing you fantards are doing. Because you cannot copy WoW's success, because there's nothing to copy. Anyone with any sort of intelligence can see that WoW's success doesn't stem from game design. It stems from their unique and admittedly impressive ability to sell the game not to gamers, but to popular culture. WoW is a game that was and still is EVERYWHERE. From cartoons to movies, to tv, to radio, EVERYWHERE. People who have no clue what the hell an MMO is KNOW WHAT WoW IS. That is why Blizzard was successful. They created a culture all of itsown out of the game. Go back to some of my posts when this game launched and you'll read a few things about how I felt this game needed "more personality" because that's what makes an MMO truly standout. As it stands this game is like a dead stick in the water, it has the personality of a wet mop. That goes for the game's environment, your characters, your mobs, quests, even the cinematics are robotic. Flair, that's what it's about,m that's what makes a game something people remember. SWTOR, doesn't have it. It will probably never have it. It might limp along keep it's head above water. But don't expect this game to ever rise above where it is right now, in fact expect it to continue to bleed subs until it hits Rift/WaR/Aion/ect... numbers, and it'll never recover, because that's now how this genre works. And before you fantards go there, no I don't play WoW, I haven't played WoW for nearly 2 years., and no I won't be playing GW2 either, or secret world, or this game.
  2. 400,000 subs in just 2 moths, that's an ENORMOUS loss.. I see posts like "it's still 1.3m SWTOR aint dying" Heaven help some of you people if you were aboard the Titanic, you wouldn't have even had the good sense to abandon ship. Have fun with your sinking ship you mindless fanboy zombies.
  3. And the OP should have listed you as another reason why he's canceling his account. Community is every bit as much important as the actual game in any MMO. If the community is filled with jerks why would someone want to play? No one cares? Cancel and leave? That's one more monthly sub you're kicking out the door on Bioware's behalf, and given the majority opinion about this game outside of these forums and the ever dwindling server populations, I'd expect you "valiant defenders" of this game would want to clutch onto every last one. Because quite frankly this game is headed down the tubes. Now you might think "A month ago they said they had 1.7million subs!" Yeah... Wait til Tera, D3 and GW2 launch.
  4. and by the way... Garbage content is still garbage, it doesn't matter how much of it there is. And the launch was only smooth because they launched 150 servers which is a ridiculous amount and also why many of them are ghost towns now.
  5. Dude I've been playing MMOs for the better part of 2 decades, I know what to expect when a new MMO comes out.. I'm fine with waiting a few months out like I have with SWTOR and the many other 30+ MMOs I've played over the years. The problem is when you have a bland game and try fixing it with more blandness, you still have a bland game. Perhaps you all think it's awesome, but I assure you there are hordes of MMO fans beyond the safe confines of this forum that would have a word with you. Maybe it's your type of game, maybe you just how waaay low expectations. Truth is, this game and this developer promised greatness and they failed on delivery.
  6. nuff said? So because the game is only 4 months old we shouldn't expect it not to suck? Hey I'm all for arguing that a new MMO needs a chance to grow, but when it does grow it actually needs to improve... not just stay the same.
  7. Nope.. not even going to use the "free month". I kept my account active to wait for 1.2 and sorry to say I'm not even remotely impressed. Most days I can't even bring myself to log in to this game and when I do I can't even force myself to play for any longer than an hour. There's "some" cool ideas here but Bioware really needed to do more, they needed to be more courageous and not just copy every other themepark MMO since Everquest. They needed to NOT play it safe and bring us a truly amazing experience. As it stands before 1.2 the game was already mediocre. Even the story, the amazing epic story they were spouting about is bland and completely predictable. I mean I knew how my very first 50's story was going to end when I was 30 and no because of spoilers. To top it all off I waited, thought maybe 1.2 might be worth it, but unfortunately all 1.2 did was add more mediocre game play on top of an already mediocre game. Really sad, really disappointed that this game, that should be at least and 9 on a 1-10 is really only a 4, 5 at best.
  8. Curious about the negativity towards SWTOR? Really... Well I can't say it isn't justified. I had high hopes for this game, I stuck it out long enough to see patch 1.2, I had hoped it would've added something to make spending a monthly fee on this game viable. Unfortunately 1.2 has fell short. Legacy is okay... but I really have no desire to roll up and level new characters so I can.. roll up and level new characters... so I can roll up and level new characters so I can play a specific race class combo. Plus half of the legacy garbage costs credits. They added a new flashpoint, which I'll never see because trying to find a group in this game is retarded, thanks anti-dungeon finder tool rejects. they added more for operations again see above. New warzone is just another WoW rip off actually the only decent thing they added was UI customizations, but I'm so far over this game. They haven't really added things we NEED in this game but some pointless fluff because they decided to make a game where the point was to run alts rather than just adding more stuff to keep you occupied. combat is a bore questing is a bore farming is a bore leveling alts is a bore this game is a bore. And let me just let many of you in on a little secret... When a game starts handing out free months to people... It isn't doing so hot.
  9. Solution is pretty simple. organize a blackout. If EA thinks they stand to lose money they might just rethink their stupid stance. Because ultimately that's the only language Bioware and EA speak.
  10. Whoa whoa whoa.. Chill out fan boy. I didn't mean to step on your mother's grave. Y U MADBRO? Actually it's a semi-public forum so I'll leave my "ridiculous comments" wherever I so choose. And actually it's pretty apparent that more detail was given to the story in this game than any other aspect which is why a lot of the game is very lack luster. Like the completely static planets and NPCs, the copypaste of WoW/EQ's combat system, talent system, and so on and so on and so on. The proof is in the pudding my dear boy and it is painfully clear that the only real purpose Bioware had with this game was the story, which to be honest isn't THAT good, but better than what most other MMOs offer. Everything else about this game is really rather bland which logically leads one to assume that they spent all of their time and efforts on the story and very little on the actual game. But really there's no reason to be so rabid just because you disagree, especially when you likewise have to evidence to dispute my claim.
  11. You're going to see 1.2 hit roughly right before or right after the sub cycle runs out for that month. Why? Because it's another month of subs they can try to snag people into. They also want to hold on to those 3 month subs that will be running out. I would imagine we'll see it no sooner than March 18th no later than March 23rd
  12. Not really. All other sites that track information like server population show that the population of the game is staying rather still at the moment with intermittent periods of gains and drops. Aside from that just claiming 1 server has seen an increase in players in fleet means absolutely nothing about the rest of the game.
  13. Actually making alts or rerolling IS in fact part of the end game for ANY mmo. It's just not the only aspect that should be available. Just like raiding and grinding post cap content should not be the ONLY aspect to endgame.
  14. Personally I dont care what the payment model is so long as it's a good game. Having said that I've yet to see a full on F2P game that is a decent game. But that doesn't include games that started out sub-based and then switched. SWTOR falls in that category. This game is "okay" but it needs more. I feel Bioware spent way too much effort and time on the voice overs, and story and not enough on developing a decent base game. Things had better change and change soon if they hope to keep my sub past 6 months. The static world and lack of anything resembling a new era in combat and game mechanics is hurting this game more than anything. Think what you will of some games on the horizon, but Tera has a very fun very interactive combat system. Even GW2 has interesting aspects like combining spells/abilities in combat to change the dynamic. For instance firing an arrow through a wall of fire to create a flaming arrow. These are the things future MMOs need to focus on. Not ridiculous aspects most gamers do not care about, like story. ( I'll admit the story is nice and fun, but that CANNOT be your ONLY focus.) I'm not saying Tera and GW2 will be amazing successes but at least they have the balls to do something new.
  15. Short form, no. Long form ..................NO.
  16. Unfortunately... Bioware spent entirely too much time and resources on the story and forgot or didn't have the time to make the game aspect. Which is really too bad, because far all of the stories I've played are pretty lack luster. Bountry Hunter's Story is meh. Inquisitor started out good but flopped, and so far the Sith Warrior is starting to go the same way. Essentially Bioware wrote a book when they should have been making a movie. Unfortunately in this genre the movies are always better than the books. In hind sight adding the "4th pillar" was a terrible game design move.
  17. The games server populations have stayed curiously roughly the same since launch, with only a minor drop in active players after the first month. http://www.mmo-junkies.net/statistics/search?app=statistics&module=game&section=view&game=swtor Although the yearly graph shows a drop after the initial surge of players, EU servers show standard overall as do NA servers during their primetime. I think this game has a stable population that might actually begin to grow once they start actually adding new things. I mean if a good majority of players stayed through the hellhole this game has been and sort of currently is then they'll stay when things get better (IF they get better). At any rate just looking at a single server doesn't tell you jack about the game's population or health of the player base.
  18. You're right, they don't. And that's exactly why this game will fail.
  19. I'll say this... I started first day of early access. I was imported with a guild I joined on the site. There were quite a few people in the guild before I left it. Probably 40-60 people. Now I very rarely if ever see anyone from that guild. I used to see them all the time in Warzones and fleet. Anyway left that guild, a friend created a guild. Joined his guild. Guild grew to 70+ people in a matter of days. That guild is now lucky if more than 2 people are online at any given time, and most members haven't logged in for weeks. I think a very large portion of the people who started this game from launch or earlier are long gone.
  20. Let me start by saying this. I LOATHE WoW as a game and as an MMO. I did however have fun in WoW because of friends I played with. So... Personally I'd place WoW and SWTOR neck and neck. WoW because of previous experience with other players and SWTOR because of the story. But other than that they both fall at the bottom of the 30+ MMO pile I've played. Ultimately both games are pathetic in my opinion and have played much better MMOs in years past and present and likely the future. So pick any random MMOs and make a list of them (because chances are I played them) and put SWTOR then WoW at the very bottom and you've got my order.
  21. I always said 3 months and we should see some significant improvement. That's how most MMOs go. BUT here we are closing on 2 and still not much, just some anemic patches that didn't really fix a whole lot and much of what that was said was fixed, wasn't. (i.e. gathering nodes, combat ability stuttering, combat delays, and so on. Granted some have been improved, but they are by no means fixed.) So I'm at a loss. I guess they need 6 months instead, but then in 6 months are we going to be saying "Oh a year, they'll have it up to speed in a year.. Yeah definitely!" ? There's just SO MUCH missing from this game that I'm not even sure they can get it up to speed. This is also the only game on my PC that pushes my temps (at stock speed and I'm water cooled) to near their max. Each patch it gets a little worse.
  22. I'm gonna say mid march, probably before that month's subscription cycle runs out.
  23. Yeah you don't need to THINK. http://www.mmo-junkies.net/statistics/ Just look there
  24. You know how I know the name that has been pasted on this MMO everywhere (the TORtanic) fits? Because we spend more time arguing about what a troll is than we do arguing about what needs to be fixed or implemented.
