  1. I remember reading that the beta test event was to start on June 28 and last for 4 months which would take it to the end of Oct. I can't find the link to it, but I still say it was a 4 month duration.
  2. I think what you see from his demeanor OP is that he really doesn't have a whole lot to say about swtor except that more is coming .I guess it's kind of frustrating for him since he probably isn't allowed to reveal to much and just comes off as rather uninspired sounding. But what is interesting to note is that some of us had already viewed the dark/light event as nothing more that beta metric gathering is that how it ties in with the 2018 release of their new star wars IP since all the data they will be gathering will be very helpful to the other development team.
  3. Ideally that would be the best way to do it. The Elder Scrolls Online morphs their spells as the character levels and gives the player a choice from damage over time with health return to damage of a lower value to magic ( force or energy ) returned all at once.
  4. I get that it shows that they had 17 people doing Q&A, but we don't know if it was a paid position or from and internship or even people who were at the Austin site. But I guess the point is that they had it. But, even during the development stage they were using other studios within the Bioware network which were outside of Bioware Austin. I guess more and more people are starting to wonder more and more about the staffing and how much the are being funded at the Austin site..
  5. I totally understand what you are saying OP. As a 2 year beta tester and a subscriber since launch I too will be leaving for for an extended period. And for a lot of the reasons that you have listed. The only difference for me is that my sub runs out at the end of this month so I wont be eligible for the August HK-51 "In search of the lost cod piece" chapter story arch. And I'm ok with that.
  6. Personally, I would like Bioware to take the stance and say that going forward this will be the way that they will be rewarding all new character creations instead of making it an "Event". Nothing like giving people a some what meaningful reason and reward for their efforts in shaping the galaxy.
  7. Yup, that is correct every customization for all companions is sold from a vendor in the base on the planets surface for both factions.
  8. The credit nerf was due in part to the new event so that Bioware could get that metric data on how long and what type of quests were used to level. Without the nerf to Heroics payout people would use the H2's for leveling and would bypass a lot of planetary quests. They were counting on people not doing the H2s as a result so it wouldn't skew their metric data. And also it was to slow the leveling process down so people weren't twiddling their thumbs because they achieved the goals long before the 4 month metric event was due to end.
  9. Speaking for myself the Dark vs Light is an event in name only as it offers no new content for it as we all very well know. And all it really is doing is gathering metric data. And for someone like myself that already has 30 level 65's I really do not see the value in it for me to grind out anymore characters at this point and time. Not that I don' like to grind out new characters but I like doing them at my own pace and not feel rushed doing it. My main concern is why is this type of "event" only going on for 4 months and not labeled as the new way that Bioware is going to reward new player creation going forward from now on.
  10. It's to keep inflation down and ever since they had the extended period where the server transfers were 90cc GTN prices went through the roof . And that was caused by people going from one server to the next buying up all the goodies. And it destabilizes communities. Sounds good right ? But, in all seriousness I don't know since it doesn't affect me one way or the other about the cost of server transfers since it's so darn easy to roll more characters on a different server and get them up to max level.
  11. What you do to help with inflation is to provide a more thorough and comprehensive alternative means to obtain the product that is being sold on the GTN. They need to create multiple sources to where a person could obtain gear, mats and so forth with comms or in game credits. They could start updating existing vendors with items that can be obtained via the GTN. And for the rare cartel market clothing and armor pieces they could have a vendor on fleet selling said items in exchange of cartel coins. It's all about providing more ways and means to obtain items instead of having a single source.
  12. No high horse here, but the market did change but not for the reason you think . People were playing the GTN like it was the stock market .Allowing that 90cc transfer coin service for so long didn't help when I'm pretty sure that people we going from one server that had low GTN prices and then used another 90 cc transfer coin and selling the item on a higher priced server. Or they just simply bought up all the goods and are now holding on to the items causing prices to artificial inflate.
  13. I know that Bioware really does like to let their fan base "speculate" all the time. They do need to step up to the plate and announce the reason why they are doing it. Owning up, addressing an issue and explain their reasoning goes a long way and encourages better customer relations.
  14. All of that sounds fine and dandy until you realize that the fast pace leveling along with the heroic gear rewards kind of discourages purchasing items from the GTN at all . And by the time you level to 65 you should have enough comms to purchase 208 gear without any problem at all so there will be no need to buy armor from the GTN. And if you are a like myself you really don't shop on the GTN for mods since you are able to craft them yourself. So the only thing that I've seen sold for really obscene amounts is cosmetic gear ,vanity, rares and speeders and such. And for those items it's really ok since no one is forcing you to buy it.
  15. Steam sale is going on through July 4 so better grab em while you can
  16. Exactly! Of course there are others that will disagree since their contention is that having monthly chapters gives the player more options even if someone will blow through the content within an hour or so. A full blown dlc just makes more sense to me so the story will always be fresh in my mind and not strung out and diluted like the way it is now. I've only played to chapter 9 on a couple of toons and have stopped. The way it is now has made me think long and hard about my subscription for this game and as a result at the end of this month I will let it lapse and just will resubscribe only when all of season 2 has been released.
  17. To be fair though A New Hope Awakens was not so much a new movie as it was rehashed old content that had different players and was just a reskinned version with modern graphics.
  18. They more than likely will just take the easy way out and make her darkside only which is probably the most popular choice for her anyway. And make it so you either accept her for it or you reject her for it. Darkside Jaesa is more fun anways
  19. I think this event is nothing more than some higher up at EA wanting to gather data about how long it takes some one to go from A to Z. In other words it's simply a Beta Testing event with carefully laid out goals as been laid out by the dev team within an appropriate testing window of 4 months to help out future projects within the company that may or may not pertain to this game.

    MMOs

I haven't heard of any MMO's coming out this summer, but if your looking to get some games and you are a fan of Steam they have their summer sale going on now until July 4.
  21. I get what you are saying , but It sounds like it is Bioware's way of bringing ranged classes closer to the fight and more into melee range instead of standing off 30 meters spamming aoe attacks in relative safety. It's just all part of that never ending class balance that keeps going on.
  22. If it was me I would stay on the Ebon Hawk and roll other toons on the server I wanted to transfer to since it doesn't take that long to get to max level and be equipped with 208 gear. And server prices is not a real determining factor for me since it is very rare occurrence that I ever purchase anything other than a relics from the GTN from time to time since I craft my own items. Otherwise I mainly use my credits and CC for purchasing unlocks. As far as population goes right now there are 3 east coast servers that have about the same population as Harbinger http://www.torstatus.net/ .
