  1. If you are talking about exploring the entire map (i.e. getting the "You have discovered the entire map of Tatooine!" or whatever) then yes, I've done it.

The opposite faction's base is automatically "discovered" so you don't have to try and get there (because you can't).

It would be interesting to see if you could make it through the exhaustion zone with a ton of healers but I kind of doubt it. The exhaustion zone is huge and it takes large chunks of your life off on each tick.

  2. I am also paying $60 for the game + $15 per month and in the end I am getting a crappy port from EA....

I am paying EA not Apple to get the game support.

Don't you think they should support all devices instead of focusing on Windows only ?

That makes no sense. You KNEW it was Windows only when you bought it. They didn't hide that fact from you. You don't buy a Windows only product and expect it to run on a Mac. You just... don't. There's really no excuse to complain about a "crappy port" when you KNEW it was a "crappy port" in the first place.

While I think it would be NICE if it could run on all platforms, as a programmer myself, I know that is not always an option and, indeed, can be VERY time consuming to do.

  3.

In the JK quest you learn that the Emperor has plans underway to end ALL LIFE in the galaxy to become nothing short of a god! Yeah, if that guy's the boss... no way his upper management are going to be good people.

This. This, this, this, this, this.

Regarding SWTOR, you can't think the Sith are anything but horribly evil, just based on this ^ spoiler alone. Playing through the Sith Inquisitor storyline gets you the same answer (at least as far as I've played it, not all the way through that one yet).

The Republic is corrupt and terrible, don't get me wrong. Playing through the Jedi Knight storyline just reinforces how bad the Republic is. But even at their worst, they still aren't on par with the Sith Empire.

  4. It has nothing to do with how many quickbars you have displayed. I use 3 quick bars at the moment and the stuck cooldown number can appear in any or all of them.

I'm a Jedi Knight and generally, it seems to hit saber ward most often but I've seen it on almost every skill that I use. Usually, the ones that have a quick cool down (like 4 seconds or less) don't have this problem.

A way to fix it is to either use the skill again or to reset the UI (ctrl-U and then ctrl-U again).

It's simply a bug. I'm sure Bioware will get it fixed soon enough. It's annoying but not game breaking to me.

  5. I don't think this is really a spoiler, but I'll use the tags just in case:

For the Jedi Knight, you can completely romance Kira without having a single Dark Side choice. I don't know about the other classes but you can be completely Light Side for the Jedi Knight.

  6. I don't really have a survivability problem at all on my defense specced Guardian. In fact, the Sith Harrowers that everyone seems to have a really hard time with were push-overs for my Guardian. I never got below 75% health on any of them.

And once you get Doc... wow. Pretty much everything becomes easy mode :)

Enure is a joke. It's a smoke screen that only lasts 10 seconds before dropping you to 1 hp for anyone with a tooth pick to poke.

Agreed, for the most part. There have been a FEW battles that Enure has saved me. I find you have to know exactly when to pop it in order for it to be effective and knowing the exact time can be hard. 99% of the time though, it's completely useless.

I think Enure should be buffed to be a PERMANENT heal for Guardians that has a much longer cooldown.

  7. Yep, happens to me too. The launcher is all sorts of buggy.

Has anyone else noticed that if you type your password, get to the "Play" screen and then cause the launcher to lose focus, the Play button becomes grayed out? I don't know if that's a "security" thing or what, but it's awfully annoying. The only fix is to restart the launcher, retype your password, etc.

  8. I'm a Guardian and one thing I've noticed is that I have to be on the top of my game to really do well.

With Doc in tow, I can almost just smash my way through anything but if I really want to be doing things efficiently, I do have to be really on top of my cooldowns and rotation. On nights that I'm tired and just want to kill some time, I definitely notice the drop off.

This makes me think that Jedi Knight is a more difficult class to play. The only other class I tried was Sith Sorcerer up to level 17 during beta so I don't have much to compare to.

That said, when I'm in the "zone" I can really beat down even elites (especially with Doc providing the heals! :))

  9. I like that they break them up for some planets. While I don't have the same hatred for Taris that some do, Taris was WAY TOO LONG when you did the story quest, planet quest, and then the bonus series. Breaking that planet up would have been nice.

And my favorite planet so far has been Alderaan so I was more than happy to go back there at 40. I just love how that planet looks - by far my favorite when it comes to design and aesthetics.

  10. Wow... kind of surprised to hear that, what with Windows 8 being all "omg we have to support tablets and desktops can go to hell!!!!!!111111eleventyone" (at least that's what I've heard about it). Nice to see that it can still run bigger applications than Angry Birds.

And yes, I know it is supposed to support both but from what I've heard, it seems to be heavily biased toward tablets. Hopefully what I've heard is wrong though :)

  11. So I just did this quest last night. Had exactly zero problems with it.

First, she does call in additional troops at set points of her health. I used Doc for the heals and when the adds came in, I would rush to them, use my AOE taunt to get them all on me, and take them out quickly. Then Leap back to the boss. Lather, rinse, repeat.

As for her one-shotting you guys... I never saw that. I would say it's either one of two things: either she's got an enrage timer (which would be... odd) or there's a bug.

Don't know really what else to tell you except make sure you take care of the adds when they rappel in.

  12. Yes, which ones were you going after?

Jumping isn't random in this game (aside from the random lag monster) but it DOES behave different from most other games out there. If you haven't figured that out yet, then yeah, I can see the datacrons being incredibly frustrating to get.

Tell us what you are having trouble with but in general: Turn off sprint, turn ON walk (or more generally, do NOT JUST RUSH THROUGH), and hit jump THEN forward when you want to make a precise jump (the game's jump mechanics require you to hit jump FIRST, unlike most other games. Practice on the ground and you'll get it).

I've watched so many people turn off sprint but then just run across a beam and fall off. If you are rushing, you will fail. Turn on walk if you need to and take your time and you'll get it much quicker in the end.

  13. I went on a datacron hunt this past weekend. I also watched some people behind me trying to get some of the Nar Shaddaa ones that are up in the rafters.

As others have said, TURN OFF SPRINT.

This should be obvious but even when I told these people to do so, they still were just rushing through and of course, falling off.

Second: TURN OFF RUN. By default, this is the / key. Yes, walking is slow, but if you are having trouble, do this. In fact, some jumps are made easier by walking toward them. If the jump is a greater distance, make sure run is turned on, of course. Mostly, the point is just to take your time and don't rush through the rafters or you WILL fall.

Aiming: If you are having trouble lining up on a rafter or girder, I find aiming with the mouse (holding both left and right buttons) while WALKING works pretty good for lining up a jump. Just don't walk TOO far forward when lining up a jump or you'll fall off!

Jumping: I've found that - contrary to every other game in existence (;) ) - jumping is a bit counter-intuitive. First, you don't hit forward and then jump. Rather, you need to hit spacebar a split second BEFORE you hit forward. This will give you a forward moving jump from the exact spot you were standing before. If you try it the other way, you will likely move forward, fall, and THEN try to jump. I see a lot of people doing this. You can practice on the ground until you get the feel for it.

Be patient. Even with these tips, I still fell A LOT on some of the Nar Shaddaa ones (this after not falling at all on the Coruscant ones) so it takes some practice.

  14. Doc is an IWIN button when you first get him. With Doc, I can solo (most) Champions with no problems.

Now that I'm a bit further down the road though (level 43), Doc is still the go-to guy for boss fights but I tend to use Kira for general questing because things die MUCH quicker with her. I do have to stop and heal more often which probably balances it out but that's ok.

  15. I just ran a heroic 2 quest with a Sage who had Qyzen in tank stance with taunt on auto cast. He tanked WAAAAAY better than I did.

Granted I'm pretty sure companion threat stance is +100% threat generation. Why it's only 50% for guardians I have no idea.

Bold added. Agree 100%. I've noticed that with a companion on tank stance, even my taunts won't peel mobs off them. I didn't think that was possible.

Maybe it's just a bug but companions on tank stance seem to have the "takes aggro 100% of the time" skill.

  16. It's not great, but you DO get an AOE taunt that is pretty useful. That combined with judicious use of single target taunt and AOE attacks keeping aggro can be mitigated.

It's definitely not EASY though, that's for sure.

  17. I dunno how ppl manage to have so much problems with JK bosses.

I dint had ANY! ANY problems with any JK bosses, including the harrowers.

This is overly harsh, but I essentially agree.

I've never had an issue with any Jedi Knight boss in the game, including the Sand Demon, the Harrowers, and yes, Tarnis.

I don't remember having to use any specific strategy with him. Heal up with a med pack when he gets you low and hit him with everything you've got at that level.

Or get a friend to help *shrug*

  18. It succesfully gets rid of boring questing only at begining when quests are fun and when its the first time you hear your own character lines...

...with time quests becomes amasingly boring so you spacebar trough them after reading text ahead of actor voiceover, and then choose one of the repeatable:

"bring me up to speed", "i havent even break a sweat" or other "as it should be" (samples of sith warrior countlessly repeated lines), ***?! How could you ruin such a nice immersion-bulding feature?

At lvl 41 voiceover relevation comes up to be a lie and games is looking to be a bugged, unpolished, unfinished, boring game with harsh controlls and lack of developers attention to most irritating problems.

I was expecting more when i spent my first hours in the game...

I'm level 43. I've heard my Jedi say some things quite a bit ("Helping others is both a duty and an honor"... that phrase needs to die) but it's really not game breaking.

Additionally, I generally only space bar through the dialog when it's an alien language but ONLY after I read the text. I don't really need to listen to random gibberish at this stage in the game :)

So I just have to disagree with you, OP. I still listen to (or at least read) ALL dialog and I probably always will :)
