  1. Greetings, While I am not exactly a new player per se, I thought my question best fits here since there is no dedicated companion or mechanics forum out there. I am playing a Sith Warrior and recently I got my SI / close range damage dealer companion. (not spoiling anything with giving names out, but I guess you know who I mean). When I was getting new mods for that companion, some of them had surge rating on them. Now my problem is that despite the equipment having surge rating it is not shown on the character sheet. There the value is still 0 with no bonus added. Therefore my question is does surge rating only work on player characters and not on companions or is this simply a display bug that should be reported? Any info on this topic would be highly appreciated. Thank you
  2. Greetings, I have a question about Armor mods for an Immortal Jugg. According to the guides available here one should not only invest in END but also in his other stats like STR for treat building. Now, the commendation vendors have most of the time the Guardian Armor mods with more END than STR, which I so far thought are the ones for us Tank Juggs. But with now having essentially all possible slots full with orange gear I think I would severely gimp myself towards END if I put in everywhere Guardian Mods. On the other hand if I put everywhere Might mods I would have a lot of more STR but then I fear that I might become too squishy. Therefore, I was looking here on the forums for some rule of thumb about Stat balance or some general values for which to aim in the end, but could not find any. Because of this I am asking you if anyone has some guidelines in this matter or can point me to a place where I can find those. Thank you
  3. Quite a lot of text there indeed... I hope you do feel better now, venting all that frustration. But some of your gripes are really unfounded and I hope I can alleviate some of your problems with the game. I will try to touch on as many points as I can. 50s in PvP: This is going to be fixed next Tuesday the 17th when 1.1 hits. 50s will get their own bracket then. Besides I know it is not fun to be crushed and loosing is neither, but I noticed that there are not such big differences between winning and loosing concerning warzone commendations and money. There might be a difference in Valor but that is right now needed anyways only for Titles and one set of gear. Names: Granted, in any game they are just labels for the same thing. since calling them PvP Zones and PvE Zones is a bit boring the games give them different names, if that be warzones, battlegrounds or instances flashpoints, deadspaces or dungeons. Guilds get also renamed in very game be it guild, legion, corporations or what ever. It is just nomenclature, even in the case of WoW. Companions: I am playing a Juggernaut and I have this light side liking tomb raider girl called Vette on my heels. Crush, kill and destroy? I like that and if she does not like it? Tough luck for her. She is still below 1000 affection but I do not care. If we are that different we are not made for romance. If you say you want to see that story part, just feed your companion gifts until he/she is happy. You do not like that i tortured that guy? Here take this bracelet and shut up. Sound familiar? happens all the time. Besides, I am pretty sure that BW did the companion layout that way you will get an evil, dark side chick later on who really gets off when you hurt and kill innocents. Date her instead. Weapons: This is as old as an MMO or RPG that is. Certain classes only may use certain weapons, even if it goes against logic. For example, Paladins in WoW, they lug around these massive hammers, but yet a small dagger can not be used by them? Or Warriors can use every weapon there is - except simple wooden bo staffs? It is just mechanics, mostly for loot distributions. I grant you though that there could be more Lightsaber variety around. Crashes: I only can advice you that you should check your system for that. I have an old 4 year old PC that really labors with TOR and I only once has a CTD so far and I know that I did stuff there I should not have done so it was my fault. Story quest: That is just a question of realism. Someone gives you a task and asks you to finish it. Then you go off having fun in PvP. When you come back it of course is still not done why should it? If you have to do a task at work or home or school or university and you go off and play soccer, will it be done when you come back? Advanced classes: Aion had a similar system and there it worked pretty well. I have not tried two ACs from the same basic class so I can not say anything about that really. But seeing that Jugg can wear heavy armor and Marauder only medium that are distinctions that are pretty fundamental. To sum it up, some stuff will be fixed, others can be circumvented and yet different stuff is just inherent to the game genre of MMOs and RPGs right now, until someone truly reinvents the wheel there. Maybe you are disappointed that SWTOR was not the change all game that everyone hoped for (although I think it does a lot of things right) but certain game mechanics are probably just at the core of a genre and you just can not get them out (like the support with ammunition and fuel / energy / whatever for your troops or the collect - build - fight sequence in strategy games). That is my also rather long opinion and answer to your post.
  4. I am a Sith Warrior and I am very sure without now logging into the game that I never got neither the Sith Weapons nor the Red engine Codex entry. However these entries are spawned during these missions I somehow accidentally circumvented the trigger. This is especially bad since I never will be able to return to the story quest area in order to get it and that again means even if they ever fix the other Korriban entries and the title, I will never be able to claim it.
  5. Mine is missing the rubber basis and the lightsaber as well. I did not know there was a rubber thing supposed to be there, but I have looked very carefully for the lightsaber blade everywhere on the floor and table and in the packaging but I was not able to really find any thin and long thing wrapped up in anything.
  6. Here is a new one for you: Maybe there are US people who intentionally go to EU servers to meet friends there as welll, when those servers have peak time... I think it goes both ways. Besides, if you envy the light EU servers just reroll there... I can promise you no queques for you sir and you will have most of the server to you alone, Sir. But then I recommend BH or any other class that gets a heal companion early or can heal since you will have to solo most of your Heroics and other group content.
  7. Greetings, Since I am a completionist and would like to fill up my codex as much as possible (and possibly even complete it) I of course would like to get all the entries of Hutta the other Empire starting world. I have played a BH in beta and from my problems on Korriban with my codex entries, I know that there are some class specific entries like companions and quest NPC. So my question is, before I waste my time running around on a planet in a pointless endeavour: Can an "outsider" from Korriban even complete the codex for Hutta or does (s)he miss too many necessary prerequisites?
  8. There are websites that have the lists for the planets and also sometimes information how and where to get the entries - especially datacrons since they are the most important and interesting ones. What I still do not get is how a Sith Warrior is supposed to get the Codex on Korriban completed when of the 3 species entries he needs to aquire, one of them seems to be a class only entry for the Sith Inq companion. So, my question is how doess a Sith WArrior get the Dashade entry or is there an equivalent for the Warrior? It can not be Twi'lek since I think I have read somewhere that you get that in a totally different place.
  9. Happened to me in in LOTRO once as well. My main char had a surename in a different language than the server language was. So I was asked by a GM to change it and use a name in the language of the server. Granted it was an RP server and at least back then they very much looked after enforcing that special status of the server ... but I still found it somewhat a stretch. Anyway, I just gave myself the same surename just in the proper language. I also know who probably reported me. It was shortly after I had a competition with some other player over some low number mobs I needed for a deed (Limrafn in Evendim for everyone who played the game - they come only out at night and even then there are not many around - a true pain in the neck). To make a long mater short I was faster and he essentially did not get many of those mobs and eventually left - but not without reporting me to the GMs I guess. So sometimes it is really just ill will and revenge or something similar.
  10. I have to grade it with a solid A. Reason: - No queque what so ever - at least on my server - No lags (and I play as a EU citizen on a US East server - ping is stable at ~200ms) - No disconnects - No crashes what so ever - Tons of fun - Great stories - Cool atmosphere - CE Key worked the first time - Authenticator was hooked up easily So least from my side there is not really anything to complain about. It was the smoothest launch and ride into a game I ever had in all the MMOs I tried out in the past 7 years.
  11. I got my Shyrack entry when I did the Blood Legacy quest solo in the Academy. Might have been coincidence, but maybe some people miss that specific kind of Shyrack because they grouped in this mission and never killed one directly themselves. But I have the same problem with the Species entry. As a Sith Warrior I got only 2 out of 3 entries. Sith Purebloods and the other one eyed guy. How am I supposed to get the Dashade entry with not being SI? Or should I have gotten a Twi'lek entry and Vette is just not giving it to me for some reason?
  12. Then you will be waiting for naught because this is exactly the mail you have been waiting for all the time - there is no other. This mail means you are in - nothing more nothing less. You should be able to hit play on the launcher. If not check your account details under key redemption centre if you have the early access code posted there.
  13. Entered Code on July 22nd and just got my invitation email at 2:14 PM GMT (+5 EST). Piecing together from the infos on the forum here it was the second wave that hit me. But to consolate all the people still waiting I am still stuck at university for the next 6 hours or so, so it does not do me any good yet. I just keep my fingers crossed for my chosen names. I made a list of names in order of preference and I hope I will hit one available before hitting the end of it. See you around in the galaxy!
