  1. If you really want that last commendation, Heroic quests are daily repeatable, and many of them give a commendation as a possible reward. You do usually have to find a partner though.
  2. Obnoxiousness has been (relatively) minimal in chat so far. I've been playing Republic on Vornskr (or whatever it is) and chat while occasionally inane has been reasonably civil and helpful when I've payed attention. That said I often tune out the chat window when I'm playing, so Godzilla could be attacking one zone over and I might not notice.
  3. I doubt you did anything wrong. Sometimes you just don't get enough. It's annoying but not really a huge deal, as you'll get better equipment then what you get for the commendation fairly quickly. As of the last beta build you could no longer trade up your commendations. I haven't checked the live version though.
  4. Thankfully my wife was almost as excited about SWTOR as I was. We did have to buy her a new computer though. A thousand bucks (give or take) to cancel out all wife agro was well worth the price though.
  5. You gain access when you finish Chapter 1, which is usually around level 30. It's not a hard level though.
  6. We probably need a few more details on your machine. What are you trying to play on, what OS, etc. Also, this might get better results over in the Customer Service Forum.
  7. I found shadows to be the biggest graphics resource hog. Turning that down on my wife's old machine helped a ton. It was still bad enough we bought her a new rig though.
  8. If you are looking to go Ranged, I'd go with the Trooper: Commando or Bounty Hunter: Mercenary. Those are the more damage oriented Advanced Classes, but they still wear heavy armor. For Melee, Go Jedi Knight: Sentinal, or Sith Warrior: Marauder. The dual wielding, lots of damage, Advanced Classes for those classes. They only wear medium armor, but are still pretty tough, and dish out tons of damage.
  9. There is a quest giver right off the elevator on the Space Station, who send you to your trainer. Did you get that quest?
  10. I believe you can increase the font size of the chat window, if you right click on the chat tab. Your out of luck on the dialog wheel and subtitles.
  11. You would still progress through the story normally, you'd just be a very not nice Jedi. Some of your companions might not like you as well if you go dark side. There's some alignment specific gear that starts showing up, and obviously you can't wear/use the gear for the opposing alignment. There's also the option to have your character look more corrupted as you go dark side. If you don't like how you look with darkside corruption you can toggle it off in the preferences. Other then that, I don't think there's tons of effect.
  12. Just try logging in and see if it works.
  13. There are currently no chat bubbles. I recall reading somewhere that they will probably be added later, but don't quote me on that.
  14. You unlock the name when you complete chapter one, which is usually around level 30. Once you have the Legacy name it is automatic on all newly created characters. You don't have to get them leveled up also.
  15. My wife got a Shadow, which is equivalent, up to mid twenties and was able to tank all Flashpoints she tried. They seem very viable.
  16. The following classes have tank specs: Jedi Knight: Guardian Jedi Consular: Shadow Trooper: Vanguard Sith Warrior: Juggernaut Sith Inquisitor: Assassin Bounty Hunter: Powertech I'm hoping I got those all correct. The Shadow and Assassin are Cloth classes, but they can still tank as well as the others, they just start a little slower in my opinion. They just rely more on powers to do it, rather then raw armor. All the others wear heavy armor.
  17. My understanding is there is still no gray gear in place, so if you want to use your alignment equipment, you need to lean light or dark. If you don't care about that, then knock yourself out. Hopefully at some point in the future they'll implement neutral equipment. I don't think there's anything else alignment actually affects directly.
  18. I did the exact same thing you did. Got up, reserved a couple of names and headed to work. Hopefully things will be smooth when I get home. I can't even get straight on when I get home, as I have to take my son to a dumb ol' Orthodontist appointment. Stupid real life. My wife is actually home sick today, entirely coincidentally as she really is pretty sick, but still she gets to play and I don't. Is it worth bronchitis? Hmmmm.
  19. I think a very loud, yet fairly small, percentage of that 2 mil is "raged." Most people read all the releases, and understood going in that this was a staggered release, and said "OK, I hope I get in today. Oh well, I have to go to work. I'll check my e-mail when I get home and maybe get to play." A few people screaming very loudly may seem like everybody, but usually it's just noise.
  20. You must not be very old, because I'm only 39 and I've seen many WAY dumber things then this. Don't worry, as your age, dumbness will come to you.
  21. Taking a vacation day for any release day for an MMO is always risky. Releases are often notoriously bug filled and prone to shut downs, and poor performance. The staggered entry to this one seems to be keeping things running smooth, but at the cost of excuding some from day one. My advice, take a vacation day on Day 5. You'll probably get more value out of it.
  22. They are doing rolling access to make sure the servers are not overstressed and we have a smooth entry. I'd rather the staggered entry, getting in a couple days later, when the alternatives are skagging the servers and making it terrible for all. It's unfortunate that many good people who just didn't have internet access won't be able to get in right on day one, but I can't think of a better way to prioritize. They can't exactly ask every user what there career is, and base it on who's they feel is more important. They had to choose a method of timing the early access, and this seems like the fairest.
