Well I've read this article and agree with him. FFXI has maybe 200,000 subs, not huge by todays standards but that's 200,000 subs for over eleven years. That's $343,200,000 made. For a game that development cost is said to be around $16 to $24 million that's not a bad return. As for the game, it's true that they aren't trying to reinvent the wheel but that is a good thing. I read an article, FFXIV's Buffet Effect and it's true. It has a lot of the content you find in other MMO but all under one roof. The key in P2P is never letting the players get bored due to lack of content and FFXIV has content in spades.

I'll be moving to FFXIV next week. My guild is already trying to decide what area we want our guild house in.

I agree with the OP. Honestly I can't understand why they took them out to start with.

Real would be something I could see, hear, or even read about other than the cryptic "soon" replies we get in just about every content up date BW brings up. If there is one thing that BW and EA exec need to do is be more transparent with their customers.

It wouldn't be that difficult to do. Option A would be to add new zones on current planet with pre-built housing player can purchase. Option B would to revamp ships to allow player to customize them Alot of games are getting housing these days. DCUO, FFXIV:ARR, Wildstar, even STO allows customize your ship interior.

Well it's true... from a certain point of view. They give you 500 CC every month so you could technical use that to buy your custom for free.
